well, i mentioned over in a thread about my lack of sleep, I guess I just bit me in the rear. fell asleep this morning on the way to work about 5:00 am, I was coming up to a red light that usually isn't red. ran into the rear end of a truck that was stopped at the light and totaled out my little P.O.S car. thank God no one was hurt..........I've been in several accidents but all the other times I was the passenger. :sad

I was just curious if or how many people have had their first accident already.

Ouch. I hope you have insurance, or that by some fortunate fluke of chance, the guy you hit's truck was a total garbage scow and he somehow doesn't care. O_o ...Which of course ain't likely; even if it was a POS you hit, I doubt anyone would take being rear-ended lightly.

Myself, I'm twenty-one, and I've already been in three seperate "accidents" where I was the driver. Only one of which was arguably my fault, however. Fortunately, no one was hurt in this incident, or the other two either.

The first was a minor fender-bender in a parking lot outside a hardware store of sorts. I had stopped in to pick up some items for my car, coincidentally. Engine oil, a new oil filter (was planning on changing it that day). Anyway, when I came back out and got in my car, I proceeded to back out of my parking space, and just as I paused, then immediately shifting back into first gear, a man rear-ended me. It wasn't a hard hit as it was just in a parking lot, but it put a pretty solid dent in my bumper.

Second time my left-rear tire came off while I was on the highway a while back. My best answer I can come up with was that after I had changed my tires (from my winter's to all season's), I maybe didn't tighten the lugnuts on the tire quite tightly enough. My tire just literally popped off and careened off into on-coming traffic in the other lanes -- though luckily no one was hit by said tire -- while I and my car skidded off into the right-side ditch. I'll still never forget the site of looking to my left after the tire came off and seeing it coasting along beside me for a few heartbeats.

Third was when I was rear-ended on open highway by an individual who was speeding... A lot. Like, really, really a lot. O_o My best estimate, based upon my own speed and how fast the car that hit me caught up to me, and disappeared after hitting me, had him doing probably close to 200 MPH. My bumper was totalled, and I was nearly put "head-first" into a concrete guardrail on the left side of the road. This third time was actually really frightening; I really have no doubt that had I hid the guardrail, I'd have been seriously hurt if not killed.

Anyway. Sorry if that's a slightly long read.

1 when i was hit coz the car was speeding and i went over the bonnet and landed on my head on the other side of the road =.=' it hurt, i think, i don't remember actually xD

I was lucky enough to be part of a set up a couple halloweens ago. A car was sitting stopped in the highway in front of me, with no break lights or turn signal whatsoever. Also, no incoming traffic so I naturally figured they were moving when I rounded the curve. I quickly found that the car wasn't moving and slammed on breaks, wet roads didn't help and just barely totaled both cars.

I knew it was a problem when they immediately jumped out actually shouting "OH my leg! Oh my leg! My back! as they pulled two kids out and simply dropped them onto the side of the road telling them not to get up or talk to anyone about the accident.

They were uninjured, my thumb was cracked on account of the airbag which I deflated with my face and still knocked my head on the steering wheel. Thumb still makes a real quiet creaky noise when it bends.

Due to the nature of this accident I got a ticket for a hundred bucks about following too closely, and their lawsuit never made it off the ground. The only real bad part was I was too trusting and lost all the insurance money to my father. Took awhile to get a decent vehicle from nothing.

I have 0 accidents but I have very close calls and smart drivers either avoiding me for my mistakes or mistakes of others.

I've been in about 7 as a passenger. Only 2 of them where my brothers fault. The ones I hated the most where with people that Instantly started to say ohhh this ouch that. When they hit us.... that was the pits. I've been sent to the ER a couple of times due to the accidents. Just minor injuries that heal quickly.

The one that scared me the most was when my brother, best friend and I where driving one night home. We had all green lights and the pack of cars were doing the speed limit but none of them or us had stopped for a bit. We came down this hill and could see this car in the turn lane to cross our path. They sat there. They could have turned long before we got to the intersection. But they turned right in front of us. We tried to stop. They stopped right in front of us. I didnt have my seat belt on. I almost got thrown from the car, but I braced on the seat in front of me. They had one injured person. My friend and I had to go to the ER and get checked out. I had internal bruising and some cuts that got stiches.

I haven't been in any yet as a driver *knocks on wood*. Though I have been darn close.

Never been in a car accident. Even as a passenger.

Then again, I don't have the driver's license either. Maybe I should get around getting it one of these days, but it's such a bother (not to mention costly), and right now it wouldn't be of much use to me.

Tyekanik - THEY should've got the ticket, sitting in the middle of the highway without any warning signals or lights on period is BEYOND dangerous

... at the end of june last year I was in my Mule (its an ATV thing) going to check the mail, and I went down to the end of the road and I was gonna turn around so my left side would be over next to the mail boxes. I had been up only an hour and a half, I was wearing my night shirt and shorts, my hair wasnt brushed, I didnt have a bra on X_X I pulled ino this little driveway that I had used as a turn around for years and years and prepared to turn around, I had already looked (which this is a country road in the middle of the woods, also this is right next to a little hill where you can't see over and the road is so narrow it can only fit one vehicle at a time on that part of the road)

So I had pulled out when I saw a pick-up truck come barreling down the road and I had just stopped smacked dab in the middle of the road, theres quite a delay between after you change gears and then you acctually move, so there was jack squat I could do. She tried to "swerve" (bullshit, theres no where to swerve to) instead of slamming her damn breaks (if she had, minimum damage could've occured) You dont gradually hit your breaks if you're gonna run into something, you slam those bitches!!!

Well she ended up cliping the corner of the Mule's tailgate (which was left open, if it had been closed even LESS damage (like just scratches) would've occured) and it took out the light and slightly dented the grill. No major harm done, headlights are cheap.... Ummm I think the Mule on one spot you hardly see on the side of the tail gate has a semi-deep scratch but it really isnt that noticable unless you're looking for it (<3 my Mule)

Ok this lady was over twice my age and she was flipping out like I just fucking totalled her truck. I was about to have a heart attack and she was NOT helping.

Also, to my total irritation, it was the mail lady =_= A truck carrying so-called "governement property", greaaaaaaaaat.... just lovely XPPPP

I was standing in my PJs, I had to go over to the people's house we were next to (who atleast werent strangers xD) and my grandparents were both outside working on stuff so of course no one heard the phone. Her phone was dying and i obviously didnt have mine with me because I was going to check the mail (how ironic now XP) She managed to call her husband and get a state trooper (who was hot and nice and smelt good btw x3 what, i liked his cologne!) to come... which took an eternity. Her husband got there and we waited forever for the state trooper to come ~_~

I can't remember if it was right before or after he came, but my grandpa came down the road (I guess going into town for something) and I was all "Pop save meeeeeeeeeeeee! ;_;" xDD I wanted to get out of there X_X I was in my damn PJs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well if he hadn't come down there (since I couldn't get anyone on the phone) it would've taken much longer.

Well the ST finally got there (and im glad no one came down the road wanting to leave/come, cuz they would've sat for awhile xDDDD) talked to us, took pictures, and then it started to get dark and thunder like crap.... then it started pouring down rain. I was about to scream that they just back up the truck and go home... but someone else thought of that and I ended up driving back to the barn to put the mule up dodging lightning bolts over my head XP Fun.

Put that up, ran thru the rain again, got back in the house to end my "just woke up look" embarassement, listened to my grandma's emo (well last time a state trooper came to the house was when my aunt was killed in a car wreck =X) (everyone got to the house before I did too), i hopped in the shower and got dressed (yay <3)

Went out into the garage and the ST (really nice guy btw) handed ME the ticket. Failure to give right-of-way.... which was crap because that hill is really dangerous and the road very very narrow, its a gamble everytime you take it cuz someone could be going up at the same time and you smash right into each other (and it has happened)... especially with that 2nd cousin of mine who likes to fly down that road =_= and my mom...

He didnt want to give me a ticket but his boss is an absolute ass.

I wasn't even in a CAR, I was in an ATV. You dont need a license to drive that so its not as if I did anything illegal (oh was 15 last year xD) And if something had gone wrong I would've been the one hurt, because my grandpa ties back the damn seatbelts because when they're loose they drag on the ground, so I didnt have the seatbelt on and if she hit me on the side it could've knocked me out and knocked the mule on top of me if it was hard enough.

I honestly don't think this was anyone's fault because it really was an accident wit h the fault lying in the terrain, I mean ive turned there so many times it was like a billion to one chance of a wreck happening (and no i havent turned there since xDDD) Other wrecks have happened in that same spot, I think it should've been a go on situation, but someone always has to be to blame (and shouldnt it be the person who HIT the other person that gets the ticket?)

Well my grandpa was left with the repair bill (hes a service manager at a dealership, teh truck was a chevy and as a GM employee they get mass parts discounts, so it didnt cost him THAT much to get it fixed) and I was left with a ticket that after court cost would be over $200. Bull-freakin-shit.

Luckily the DA (within 2 minutes) threw it out because he aggreed it was stupid and a waste to give me a record already before I got a license over a total accident, and i have kept my word by not turning there anymore =P

Moral of this story: Don't hit (or be hit by) the mail people!!!

Though my mom is the master of car accidents, she got her last car totaled royally. Look at the road and not the building you're going to :P

Arei,
I'm glad I didn't have to deal with someone who was that kind of #$%^. the guy i hit works at the same place I work and after all was said and done he gave me a ride the rest of the way into work.

Tyekanik,
I also got a ticket for following too closely. cop said not sure how you would do that while being asleep, but that's what he was going to write the ticket up for.

now i get to pay for the wrecker truck's services, sign over the title since it isn't going to be worth fixing and pay the stupid ticket. leaving me without an economical car to drive. at least I have my gas guzzling truck as a backup.

I swear, you'd thought she was the 15 year old that got hit. I'm surprised I didn't cry, but i was scared of getting arrested or getting in some sort of trouble. She was spazzing and worried about a damn headlight and how "Oh its ruined I can't drive this truck to finish my rounds" Ummmm.... yeah you can, notice how its only 11 AM AND ITS STILL !@#$%*& LIGHT OUTSIDE!!!! Just don't drive it in the dark, sheesh =P She rammed her bigass truck into my tiny little thing, her truck was still perfectly safe with a broken headlight and it wasnt going to explode on her or anything.

Seriously if I was in that situation where I was the adult and was in that sort of accident, I wouldn't have sweated it because it was no ones fault (even if they smashed theheadlight or grill of my precious truck <3 cuz i can get it fixed for free <3 and one day i wont get it free anymore but whatever) and just gone on my way. It wasn't a you pull out the parking space without looking and someone rams into you sort of thing, you just can't see a thing till you get on top of that hill and if you're driving way too fast once you get to the top its usualy way too late.

Seriously I wouldn't have scared the crap outta the kid no matter what the case was, it was just an accident that only could've been avoided if one of us wasn't there at that time. The way she flipped out and went emo on me was not cool or mature at all, and crying on her husband like a 4 year old. Man that day pissed me off...

My first car accident was when I was 6 years old.
I was hit by a taxi, threw me into a coma for weeks.

I first driving car accident happened Dec. of last year. I was ticketed for wreckless driving but I told my side of the story to the judge and he thanked me because i saved someone's life in my decision and all my charges were dropped.

Ah my car accident was a freeway accident.

I slammed on my brakes to not hit the car in front of me who was going like 10 mph in the fast lane, and the person behind him was riding me so they slammed into me and the person behind them was riding them and slammed into them.

I got pushed into the first car (Which was a bronco, I had a little corolla), so my car was trashed, my school books flew out of the trunk and I suffered from whiplash. But good thing that was the only thing I suffered from.

I seem to be lucky when it comes to not recieving bodily harm in accidents and such.

There should be some mechanisim to throw slowpokes out of the fast lane and into a pool of death or something simular. Going slow causes just as many accidents as going fast, the only time going slow is helpful is on a road full of bigass potholes.

True, but I can't be mad at this guy because he admitted to the police that I stopped before I hit him and he wasn't hit till I got hit from behind. Saved me from this being my fault. Plus nothing was wrong with his car, so he had no reason to try and get something out of me. To this day, the nicest man I've ever met.

I was just curious if or how many people have had their first accident already.

have already had mine. it was way back when i had my temporary license thingy before i'm able to actually take the driving test. i wanted to change lanes, but i was in a hurry so didn't bother checking my blind spot and i wound up skidding another car. for the better part of a month, i was too scared to drive for fear that something like that may happen again.

in the end i got over it though and got my license just during senior year of high school. i've been accident-free ever since then though. no accidents, no speeding tickets.

I've just turned 16 recently, but haven't started working on my license yet. hopefully I won't be in too many though.
