I don't really understand how it like appears, i know it comes from the cross but is it his spirit energy?

Well. He probley has trained to be able to have alot of energy come from those points, The cross is is some sort of sybolism (forgive me for skipping ahread in the manga if they said it, I am on dail-up).

If I remember correctly...

Uryuu's bow is formed by gathering spirit energy from his surroundings. It's the opposite of how a Shinigami uses his powers; they draw spiritual energy from inside themselves. So how powerful a Quincy's bow is depends entirely on how much spiritual energy is around them (or that's how I understand it)

Zat is correct. Quincy's collect Spiritrons from around them, form it into their bow and arrows.

Correct, that is why in episode 14 when Ishida touched Ichigo's sword, his bow and arrow increased in size.

Yup. Indeedy so. He was directly collecting Ichigo's energy. He would have been getting stronger when Ichi was beside him anyway. Just not as much as when he touched Ihci's Zanpakutou.

So he gets the energy but why does he get hurt using the bow?. Shouldn't he have some resistance to it or something.

Not necessarily. Just like pulling on an actual bow, your finger would get worn down after a while. And since Uryuu's bow is made of high concentrations of Spiritons, it probably wears him down faster than, say, a wood-and-string bow would. That, and Uryuu had to continually increase the power of the bow, as the Hollows he was fighting got more powerful

plus ya gotta also think...a quincy is a human being...not a soul..so the body must have a reaction to a extreme force such as the bow when Ishida steps on Ichi's sword
