In terms of money, the companies will lose money but not when you are importing games and such. Then again, I am a pirate so that doesnt matter :). I dont mod my ps2 since I'm lazy and more of a computer person.

Yea i more enjoy my computer.

Modding is ok, except for in actual competitions. Like its cool when u have some friend oer for multiplayer in halo with 16 people and you can get a rapid file rocket launcher, (which ive done with my friend across the street numerous times). But when its online on xbox live and you are playing to raise your rank, and a guy uses a mod to win the game, its not cool.

^which has happened to me, which is why i dont play xbox live on halo 2 to much anymore, modders have like raided that game.

I have my PS2 modded also. I have a 120 GB HDD inside it and I have HD Advance 2.0. Since I dont have a burner I just rent games and copy them. Some games dont work though like Gran Turismo 4 and God Of War. I don't see it as wrong I see it as saving money. I'm not gonna fork over $50 for every new game full of glitches. I think anyone who disagrees is a hypocrite since most people on the internet download music, and if they post on this forum, they probably download Bleach episodes.

Well considering the games are pretty expensive and stuff, modding might be okay, moreover we all are somewhat pirates ^^ haha.
I owned PS and PS2 and never modded them not because I think it is illegal but in case if my ps2 ceases to work properly and I have to take it to the shop and have it repaired free, cuz when you mod'em the guarantee is terminated.

But on the flipside if you have your PS2 modded like I have mine, they actually run better. If you have games copied to an HDD and only use one disc to access all the games it preserves the PS2 disc reading lenses. All my friends who have PS2's say when they play DVDs they skip. I've NEVER had that problem and no one believes me. Another advantage is it takes away game loading times and pretty much makes them non existent. And the money I saved on games far outweighs the cost of any expense of getting the console fixed, or even buying a new console altogether.

You can't just blame people with modded systems for that though. People who download games and burn them are also part of the problem. I don't consider that unfair though. Maybe to the game-makers but not to the people who actually buy them. I don't think I've even spent $70 on my entire PS2 game collection. It's not my fault that some people aren't taking as much advantage of modern technology as I am.

Modding your PS2 does alllow you to get a lot more games.
Eg. BLEACH for PS2. I don't thing that is going to be seen here locally any time soon.
