I also posted somewhere the other day that I thought he was the Hercule of Bleach. He's the Earth's hero in place of the real deal who would be swamped if the world knew the truth. He's pretty much a weakling acting as the saviour of the Earth with the impression that he's gifted.

He has his moments, very few and far between, but there are one or two. All in all though he just bugs the hell out of me. With that said, so did Hercule so I'm not suprised I feel the same way about him.

Hmm...I don't think that Don means to be mind-shatteringly annoying (and equally stupid) He's really just a comic relief character, you need to have them in serious/semi serious anime's or it'd all fall through. Kon, Keigo & Kojima and Don are all comic relief characters, as when there is an episode of considerable seriousness they put the 'comic squad' in to make us laugh.

Don aint particularly funny on his own, but with the other characters he does pretty well...i think the fact he uses a lot of english with his japanese is a bit frustrating. I personally don't like Don, but i like the other characters reactions around him ^^

A comic relief episode would be the one about the cat (not sure on the number) and possibly a lot of 50 (haven't seen it yet) so yeah you get my means ^^ Kon's the ultimate comic relief character, all he brings is joy XD

I don't hate Don, though I would much rather see a PRODUCTIVE episode that actually had some point to them. So far, whenever Don is around, that episode is a filler episode. The latest, episode 50, was REALLY horrible. They cut off the best part of the anime... to show Don farting in front of kids and a stuffed bear (that just so happens to have a soul in it) for an episode? That one really angered me.

I agree, he is like Hercule. Totally powerless, yet believes he is the world's savior. He is a comic relief character. That is reasonable to have, but you use them only at CERTAIN times. Not right in the middle of an important part in the story. :whatevah:

Finally I have found a thread to express my anger!!! Ok no offence to the creator but I think Don Kanonji's character is pretty useless in the story. Mind you Salverion is right, if he wasn't in the show there wouldn't be a reason to show Ichigo's sisters, Kon, Ururu or Jinta. Still....he is the most annoying guy I've ever watched in my entire life!! ((ahh that feels so much better))

the first time it was funny, but it's ok, because it was an introductory thing, and i thought his character was being done and over with. who knows, he made another appearance in Episode 33. now this time, it's annoying, i wasted 8 minutes watching that episode before dragging the progress bar to the end to find it's all about him. it's not too bad if he was shown when there's nothing going on... but it was halfway the story when ichigo was fighting in Episode 32 man.

While he is useless most of the time, his char fills a common role in anime, the rough-neck, tough, and stubborn Japanese male stereotype that you see in many other animes.

Another character similar to him is Ikkaku but he is more useful atleast.

The only reason I see they added him was to create more conflict of interest and drama because Kaien was his Brother and Rukia killed him. Ichigo also needed somebody tough like him to create comic relief.
