-If you do not like someone's work, tell us how you feel and give suggestions how for
that person to improve instead of bashing that person that s/he do not know what
Photography means.

how is that?

Here's a couple...

For applying:
- Minimum of 5 pictures showing different styles of photography
--- Could be nature, buildings, yourself, etc.

- A valid reason why the applicant wants to be apart of the group.
---Not just because "uhhh, I take pictures! ^^" :lol

- The applicant gives their word that they will be active in the group.
---Meaning by participating in votes, posting new pics. :p

Members:
- STAYING ACTIVE
---Just, stay active, and let everyone know if you're taking leave or busy.

- Participation
---At least participate in every other voting poll. Definitely participate in POTM contests. And spam as well sometimes if your name is Kray with the musical note on the end.

- Attitude
---Let's go back to first grade here, and remind everyone that positivity is the way to go, here. :)

- Feedback
---If a member is going to give feedback to another member, let it not be spiteful or rude. Only GOOD feedback, nothing less.

If I think of anything else that could work I'll post it up. :)

edit by m: sorry kray but spamming doesnt count as being active. i could spam and do nothing else. dont mean i am participating.actually helping out counts as being active. But you are good for spamming.

edit by Kray: The spamming part was a total joke.

edit by m: oh well who gives a f**k?

Nice.

Well the bottom half could be used still - it's still all I could really think of.

Kray: It's okay.

Miyagi: Nice one, Miyu.

================================

Well, The thread will be open for 3 weeks or so. I assume that other members are still on vacation. So, 'till then, just post your suggestive rules.

Fine Art. People are okay if it is more a portait-style photo or if the people are set up as part of a good composition overall.

And fine art means more than just sunsets.

I think we should somehow raise our standards, as there is incredible amount of people who wish to join this group and sometimes i have a feeling it's just because they want to enter to have a cool tag under their username. Judging by latest applications we were getting, I think I can assume that this is not very wrong thing to say. By raising the standards I mean

1.) 5 different styles of photographs
2.) At least medium quality pictures regardless of what was used to take it

Those should be posted in the application, no PMing for more pics which means additional work for M-50. In other words, a little more effort should be put into applications and he should be a little harsher.

I know we are supposed to have fun and accept as many members as possible, but if things go on like that, we will soon have like 30 people who joined for the sake of the tag and won't contribute anything to the group.

Of course, I could be taking things too seriously, but I love photography and I prefer quality over quantity in this awesome group. That is of course, my opinion. ^^

1.) 5 different styles of photographs
I can't even think of five different style of photos off the top of my head. Maybe we should define "style" too while we're here.

2.) At least medium quality pictures regardless of what was used to take it Quality can be highly subjective. That's why I think it would be good for people to explan about their shots better, what the mood was or something. Otherwise we may interpret fuzzy or motion blur as poor quality when it really was intentional.

Those should be posted in the application, no PMing for more pics which means additional work for M-50. There are no instrauctions on how many photos to submit the application itself is a little vague, so I think the PM for more pics thing is fine when people are indecisive.

I know we are supposed to have fun and accept as many members as possible, but if things go on like that, we will soon have like 30 people who joined for the sake of the tag and won't contribute anything to the group. I thought that's what the new rules regarding inactive members was supposed to clear up.

But I agree with you overall.

Um, this really isn't related to the club rules or applying.

Can we have a rule not to post sigs in the Contacts and Links threads. The posts themselves are only a few lines, and then there's like three screen inches of sigs for every post. It makes the threads harder to sort through and the threads artifically longwinded.

As far as photo quality in applications/otherwise, we should distiguish between snapshots and photographs. Snapshots shouldn't be allowed, as this is a photography group, not an "omg look at my friends!" group.

Members should also have not only an active interest in photography, but a desire to improve their own skills (regardless of what level they are currently at.) They should welcome (constructive) criticism of their own work and offer advice of other work when they can.

I need to reread your suggestions again on this thread because i always 4get things. :lol

Anyway, I'll apply one rule here:

NO Plagiarism and NO Ripping. They'll be terminate permamently right away w/o any explanation and never apply to the club ever again. Report the abuser's name right away in the Warnings, Bans Section.

I'm just very late of tracking everybody here. T_T
...and I hope nobody will ever do it again @_@

A rare snapshot or too should be fine i think lol..just to have fun

i mean like not all snapshots but some are fine if say you went to a trip lol...that sounds too serious and controlled (everyone takes snapshots)

but snapshots for applying, well let's say it's a good way to lessen chances of getting in..

What about once a new applicant gets in he or she must stay active for a minimum of one or two weeks..

unless he/she has a reason

and maybe for inactiveness give a one or two week duration to wait cause some (like me right now) may have a connection that just went very laggy and slow that it gets hard to even load the main forum page (to the point that browsing is impossible)

so yea, and i say a week or two cause it may take a while to get the connection back or no immediate access to a cafe or something because of the sudden problem.

alright ill put that in the first post to disable sigs when posting.

I edited all the posts in there and taken the sigs away. so just untick the 'show sigs' box

um...

1) That all members are required to write in the "inactive-thread" when they know they are going to be inactive for sometime.
All can get computers that are lagging, broken, or something else that is wrong so that they cannot be online. But posting in other parts of this forum but not in here... hmm. then the person might wanna reconsider if they want to be a member here.

2) Members should take an active part in the voting for the applicants.
It is not fair for the applicants nor us if people continue not to vote. As it is now, only a few of us vote. (it is either that people start to vote, make them to or something, or that we make a panel to vote, consisting of like 11 people...)

this is what I can think of right now..

I'm not sure about having 5 different styles in the application, that will be hard, since people might have an interest in something and not something else.
What I do believe is what we need is variety in the pictures. We don't need 5 pics of sunsets, or 5 of dogs... a bit varity would be nice. (flower, landscape, portrait, sea, etc etc) and no snapshots in the applications! please.
(take eg applicant #21, he had snapshots in his application.. and then when we asked him for more pics, he showed us some much better pictures)

okay. i just woke up about 30 minutes ago and if my sister is not online tonight, i'll try my best to organize the rules. I'll be leaving today because I'm working this afternoon.

Yamamoto

Trying to help organise it so its easier (you told me to do this last night but it was late so here it is)

(plus summarised it for you Yukoshi so you don't have to go back through the posts)

Main must-have rules for inside the Shutter Squad-

Shutter Squad House Rules

Positive comments on anyone's work. If you don't like it give suggestions and not bash about it. If you can't give good feedback, better not give it at all.

Stay active and post whether you are taking leave or are caught up being busy. If inactive, try to post at least within a two-week duration to let us know you're still alive.

Participate in voting polls, contests (POTM) and the assignment thread. If you can't or missed out on entering, voting counts as participating.

This is a PHOTOGRAPHY Club, not a Snapshot club. (Well maybe one or two after you went to a trip is fine, but you wouldn't be accepted anyway if you had all snapshots in the Application thread)

Uncheck the "Show your signature" box when you're posting in t Contacts and Links thread. Just helps getting rid of clutter and unnecessary length/images. (should we also have this in POTM?) Yes we should have this in the POTM! If not then you pay a fine. of 50 vbux points that goes into the ss kitty. the ss kitty is where any points going into that (entry for contests) go towards the winner's prizes.

And most important- NO PLAIGARISING OR RIPPING. Very obvious. Failure to do so will get a kick from the club and not have a chance to re-apply as well as being reported to the Warnings, Abuses and Bans section. (should we give like a day to explain himself/herself?) As long as they dont take to long

good job kensei...
:)

So, this is it. the rules are finished. I don't know if rohil is here right now, but he will close the thread once he comes back shortly... i hope :)

- edit -

Rohil: include the members who give their suggestions and include kensei for summarizing everything when you make one post thread for the rules. this serves as member credits.

So, for how long then? Unless if others want to add something up...:rolleye09

Okay. The reason I want it to sum it up last night because I wasn't sure if M will come back since he was inactive for days w/0 telling us. If there are anything interestings rules to add, just let me know a.s.a.p. I just don't want the thread to be open over a month.

If other members want to add up, kensei is the one who will continue summurizing everything.

I just wanted more comments from other people, and we just sort of closed this up just as the new people showed up. And M-50 was gone and since he was the founder, I wanted to know what he wanted. Otherwise it seems like we're usurping his club into something he may not want.

M-50
07-03-2007, 03:53 PM
nah I pretty much said the same thing. so ill wait for the newbies to say what they think should be added or not then close and sticky and post in the application thread first post.

These are the rules in the main household. Although I agree with a few rules for the application thread.
