I can't believe there's no discussion about this, I have caught up to the latest chapter in 2 days and damn I want more!

I think the author Oku doesn't really like Kurono Kei, thus the result of phase 1, and he never gets the hot girl.

All the uber hot ones seem to fall for Masaru though, he's like a chick magnet. Lucky bastard.

If you've been following it, then you know what I mean.

For those never seen Gantz, it's a very violent, adult-theme manga.

Here's the summary:
Somewhere in Tokyo, there is a room. In that room is a black sphere. Periodically, people who should otherwise have died are transferred to the room. There, the sphere gives them special suits and weapons, and sends them out on a mission to kill aliens here on Earth. While these missions take place, the rest of the world is largely oblivious to them. These missions are lethal - few participants survive them. The sphere calls the shots, and it's not the slightest bit nice. It's name... Gantz.

The anime does not compare to the manga, half of it is made up, the other half is just...bad to say the least.

Its not entirely true, Kurono's girl (forgot the name) is quite cute, especially the "I swallowed it" parts ;P
Also Reika is totally fallen for him aswell. And tbh when he protected the girl and was insivisble to her etc was definetly one of the most touching moments of the whole manga. :)
(Also there was the black haired women, so I think Kurono had quite the harem of the finer women...:) )

Her name is Tae, and I cried when she died. They were so cute together -_-. I actually felt bad for Reika (but I would so choose Reika over Tae if I were him). The most fun I had in a chapter was the "l337 hax0rz" chapter. I loved it when Gantz mentioned something interesting about Reika, "she wants to rox0r his b0x0rz!"

I also think it's dumb that kurono died. -___- it pisses me off. And is it just me or does his brother, Akira, have a strong resemblance to Kira/Light from Death note?!

well gantz anime is shitty as everyone says so it's not worth making a thread about it. Plus, it didn't really catch up much to the manga and the ending was so stupid. Np about the links. You'll love gantz if you read the later volumes. I forgot which were the ones after the events of the last 2 episodes in the anime (well to be more accurate, the 2nd to last episode)

well... here's kurono's sequence of female encounters:
kishimoto - rejected
sei - no relationship, just satisfied each other
tae - his real girlfriend
reika - loves kurono

the only 'hot' ones were kishimoto and reika, but kurono changed, if he was still the same guy he was in the early part of the manga, he would definitely dump sei for reika. i think he has matured both as a leader and as a man. before, he was just bang-happy, now he considers everyone in his surroundings, largely because of the influence of katou.

kurono never end up together with any of his 'dream type' girls.

look at guys like 'Cherry', his gf which he met by chance is super cute.
izumi's gf is also right up there.
and kishimoto and this latest new girl (she's da bomb) all favour katou.

sucks to be the main character in this series.

About the girls:
Kishimoto: Only, and only good asset is her tits, (Gantz noticed it aswell)otherwise I would choose any other chick instead of her.
Sei: I think she was hawt, too bad for the fast death, I hoped she comes back so Kurono won't be sitting there looking for Kishimoto when the b*tch cna only say "Katou-kun" and nothing else.
Tae(ty): Shes cute, and Kurono loves her, and for an otaku quite awesome, definetly the cutest character. :)
Reika: ah, well quite desperate for an idol, but I don't think her love is that deep...
New Titz: Skintight + big titz, looks original, Kishimoto might have trouble being resurrected.
Anyway, what I'm sad about is Kurono and Tae with erased memories, now thats SAD, and I really pity Kurono for it, Tae's death might have been better, cause this just sucks.

The better outcome would had Tae returning to life while Kurono stick around the team. Since they will lose their memory anyway, what's the point? It's sad indeed. You can say, Tae indirectly caused Kurono's death but then without Tae, would Kurono survive up to that particular point? Probably not, that Lightning freak was hella strong. It's a tragic relationship and life has been vicious to Kurono.

Only reason why he got a point is because it became obvious that the chances of completly leaving the game without much of a problem is 0.
Gantz doesnt set back anything the way it was before, so you'll just wake up and notice you dont remember the last 6 months.
With the fact that the hunters are now visible to anyone its quite funny.
anyway, I'll just wait till this mission finishes, then they'll do a checkup on what to do.
Either way, Kurono won't stay dead, if not Katou then Reika will revive him, or basically anyone from hes team.
They can thank a whole lot to him(like their life), and they wanted him to live a normal life as a thanks, they wont leave him dead just because its easier.


Also: They goddamn better be killing the 2 vampires...Katou arrives and there can't even be some proper revenge dealt.

Seriously, read the manga, its a rare case that I'm so in contrast with something (including this, there are probably 3 of these) but the anime is barely watchable, while the manga is outright awesome, its selfdestructive to watch the anime.

Whether Kurono stays with Tae or decides to go with Reika should not alter her decision if it's real love.

Yeah where the hell is Nishi? He probably went invisible like he did in the first volume. But you know what I find interesting? All the people who were revived remembered their situations before they died except for Tae. Her memories of gantz and kurono were erased as opposed to Nishi's, Katou's, and etc's case.

No, glasses guy's internal organs are just rapidly aging. Kurono forgot about the hunt because he was never revived in the first place D:. He just asked to forget about everything and get revived. And yeah I wouldn't want to forget Gantz so i would've chosen to say like you would. And the whole gantz thing being visible has something to do with that oni match. From what I understand, they were about to run out of time, right? Then when the clock hit 0, all of a sudden everyone could see them. I guess Gantz knew it was futile to take them back to the room and bring their scores back to 0. The same thing would've happened with Kurono and that angry alien dude (before he started dating Tae).

I think Gantz works like a computer.
and controls everyone as a computer does its files.
They are never healed, they are copied.
When they died they also just got copied.
So infact a death to Gantz is just another copy dead.

So memory erasing must be done with simply copying and older "version" of the person back, and overwriting the new.
Gantz records everything of them, and keeps the info ofcourse.
If he would want to, he could always resurrect people after missions if he wanted to I guess, but knowing that even if you die in the mission you'll come back alive nobody would try hard, and the natural selection of the strong wouldnt be put to use.

Ofcourse this all breaks when they start to remember their past after a memory erase, thou, I still don't know if that happened, or both Izumi and Kurono just talked themselves into believeing what they were told by the clues etc they found about Gantz.

When he left alive that one alien, it just proved that they didn't want anything "bad" at all. They didn't want to do anything, but Kurono wiped out the race except that one, so out of revenge that one took out the class and etc.

The story is really good IMO, if only the mangaka would stop being annoying, killing off fun and memorable characters, and prolonging tedious battles. Its as if he's trying to make us like the pain-in-the-asses-that-are-left. Either way Gantz team is doomed. Now that they are no longer invisible, aliens can track them down. Not to mention Vampires are pretty much ahead. But where the hell do the vampires step in?! (so far it looks like aliens vs Gantz...but why vampires?!)

I can't say that I dislike Kei when he is with Gantz but after he chose freedom he bacame trash in my eyes. He runs away from his duty at the promise of a fleeting life of security with Tae. To become an average parasite on the earth. Why he would choose a lower purpose in life when he was nearly at the truth of it all is beyond me. Gantz gave him a gift, a means to be someone in this world and he threw it all away for a petty meaningless existence. His character was weak and that was shown with his death.

I guess I can only give credit at the moment to Izumi for truley seeing the gift he left behind and his pupose even though he is now dead.

Its a relatively new shounen title, but it has a very similar setup where you are transported to another world and battle enemies, looking for a way out. Just finished reading vol. 10. Lot's of stuff went on and some unexpected deaths. Kishimoto I felt was bound to die but not Katou, that was unexpected. By the way, that fight with the Buddha statues was a crazy fight. I like how Kei stepped it up and then took care of the Shorty aliens afterward. (Sucks that the Angelina Jolie chick died, she put up a decent fight for what it was.)

I see some talking about Kaze who I just have been introduced to. Guess he's a badass too. (By the way, the Karate Kid thing from Kei was hilarious.) I expect some killing to be done by Sakurai as well. Especially with those powers he got. I'll find out anyway.

Can't wait to read what mission Kei gets into next.

Heh, yeah. Oka will probably kick Nurarihyon's miserable ass into submission and then do something stupid or get distracted. And Nurarihyon will be left for Katou to finish off for a crapload of points. >_<

Seriously though, I doubt Oka will get killed, we barely know anything about him and he definately seems like an important character. I'm thinkin' in the next mission after this he'll get killed to show how strong some crazy monster is. That's IF this mission ever ends first.

The most powerful man, Oka Hachiro is facing the Nurarihyon.

At the other side of the bridge, Oka stands waiting for Nuri.

The Tokyo team is perplexed by the sight of the strange suit.

Cherry: Who's that? An alien?

Reika: Wait...

They decided to continue running alongside the river, that way evading both Nuri and Oka.

Reika: This way... come this way!

The soldiers also take a run for it.

The only ones left at the bridge are Oka and Nuri.

Reika: Ah!

While they run, they meet Anzu, the nerd and Katou, who's trying to stop Nishi's bleeding.

Reika: Katou san...

Katou looks at the bridge and observes the situation.

Katou: Oka....and that Nuriwhatever... we have to stop these guys from bleeding further...

Katou manages to stop Suzuki's bleeding and listens to his weakened voice.

Katou: Suzuki san

Suzuki: Ah...

Suzuki, Nishi and Inaba are in critical condition.

Katou: They are bleeding way too much... I think it'd be best to help... Oka finish it once and for all.

Katou and Reika observe how Oka and Nuri slowly get closer to each other.

Reika: Is it... human? One of the locals?

Katou mentions Oka is part of the Osaka Team and also about how terrible is the Nurauryhon and his powers, wondering how could Oka be able to defeat it.

Anzu: I'm sure Oka will handle it...

Katou: The man who has cleared seven times... Oka Hachiro.

BOOM BOOM BOOM

Oka gets closer to Nuri.

Nurarihyon starts attacking using his invisible moves. Oka withstands it with his suit.

BOOM

Then a huge attack destroys the bridge, and despite such attack, Oka keeps moving towards Nuri.

BOOM

Kato: WOW!

Nuri keeps on attacking, but now Oka stands right in front of it, preparing to attack.

Oka: "Attack me as many times as you want and wherever you want, come on!"
EDIT: (TN: exelm translated this line differently, "Como si tuvieras oportunidad contra mi en mi estado actual... atacame por todos lados esta vez vamos", which would be "As if you stood any chance against me in my current state... Attack me from all sides now, come on!")

Nuri roars and attacks Oka, but Oka counters it destroying the monster's left knee with his super knucles (using his right arm).

Nuri falls and Oka uses the opportunity to get a hold of Nuri's head and destroys its jaw (using his left arm).

Oka: "It may not look like it, but I used to play ping-pong when I was a student"

Then Nuraruhiyon uses its tentacles to attack. Oka receives the hit but counterattacks using his elbow blades and beheading Nuri, who falls.

Oka: Obviously I know some Karate... through correspondence.

Oka's strength impresses Katou.

Kato: He... won? No... it isn't defeated yet...

Oka immediately takes out some sort of ray gun from the palm of his hand with which he turns Nuri to pieces.

Katou and the others watch the situation.

Reika: In...credible.

Katou: Is it over?... Really...

Reika: For real? So the transfer...

Katou: Gantz! Hurry up!

Anzu: We can... go back?

Since the transfer didn't start, they turn their gazes to Oka.

Cherry stares at Oka: Is there someone inside that machine?

Oka: You guys... don't die (*)

Katou: eh?

Oka: I'm not sure... this is over yet.

From Nuri's pieces, the 100 pointer returns to his first form, the old guy one.

Katou: Eh? Oh no!

Cherry: What are we gonna do?

Oka attacks with his hand palm ray but no damage is done to Nuri, who sits on the lumps of meat.

Nurarihyon: Interesting... Quite interesting.

Nuri stands up and Oka promptly attacks it with his right elbow blade, but Nuri evades the blow.

Nura: Ho Ho

Oka attacks him several times but Nuri evades all of Oka's attacks.

But Oka attacks again with his left elbow blade, cutting Nuri into two.

Katou: Oh!

Anzu: Ya!

Nuri thinks something meanwhile.

Then, Nuri rises and regenerates, becoming one again.

Nuri starts to respond to Oka's attack.

Nuri comes up with an elbow blade similar to Oka's and also...

...strechtes his arm in the same way as the ones from Oka's super suit.

Oka tries to hit Nuri but the monster manages to detain the blow with his left arm.

Nuri attacks Oka the same way.

Katou and the others begin to tremble as they behold Nuri's body growth to an adult like form.

Katou: Everything is useless... (*)

Oka hits Nuri in the face but Nuri blocks the blow by covering his face.

After 5 hits, Nuri takes Oka's mask off and we get to see his face.

I doubt it. If Oka in his hax suit is having trouble, then there's no way the vamp guy can do it. I see him slightly or on par with Kurono in strength.

I still have a thing against him for killing my favourite character in the series while he's unarmed! And flashlight doesn't count.

Actually yeah, I sorta forgot about his fight with the vamps before he died. Kurono did pretty well for someone with just a flashlight lol.

I wonder what would have happened if the vamps (particularly Host Samurai, because he seems like the strongest out of the two) had of worn the suits provided by Gantz for this mission. Would it have made them even stronger than what they are? They already seem to have reflexes on par with those wearing the normal suits, I wonder if it'd amplify their strength any further? That'd be crazy.

Speaking of likeable characters, I'd prefer the Osakan team (though most of them got killed) to the current Tokyo team.

The only ones I really ever liked were Kaze, Nishi, Izumi and Kurono. From the Osakan team, Kuwabara (and those other two that died) and Oka seem pretty cool. All the rest seem too scared, indecisive or just annoying imo. Kurono's return can't come soon enough, he's their real leader. He always seemed to get things done no matter what.

Read the current ch. awhile ago and man Nuri is one tough cookie. Like this ch. a lot because of him and the way he was behaving with Oka. He didn't feel threatened at all by him. And at the end when he knocked Oka's mask off my first reaction was that he looked like Chad lol.

Who knows what's gonna happen next chapter. Does Oka still have some other powerful weapon as a trump card that we haven't seen or is he gonna get owned?
