When light had his name written in the book, the flashback of there being no afterlife is played back. Now with this in mind, does that mean all souls cease to exist? When the presence of death gods suggests that there is a higher order?

Because heaven and hell dont exist, as revealled in book 12.

It also states all souls go to nothing. Which I find hard to believe, as death gods suggest a life after.

If you re-read the first mangas then that would explain it :P

It does explain it. Ryuk says there is no heaven or hell.

It does not matter if you use the death note or not, as in vol 12 it says that all humans go to the same place.

Then in the last chapter, the rules is "all souls go to mu (nothing)"

So when you die there is no afterlife.

Or did I misinterprit it?

hm, won't light become a shinigami then if he cannot go to hell or heaven..., that would be logical (?)

I dunno, I think Light will be in eternal limbo or something, or everyone will be there with him... I hope Mello smacks him good >.>

At first I thought it said only DEATH NOTE USERS couldn't go to heaven or hell, then it says ALL HUMANS DON'T go to heaven or hell, does that mean all that use or are killed by the note cant go to heaven/hell or does it suggest theres no such thing... and didn't we already have this discussion? xDD
