Help me pick a badguy thing!

Hi, lately I've begun writing a story. It involves a some people who, for some reason or another, gain these elemental powers. Problem? I can't seem to think of a bad guy. An opposing force. Obviously, people don't get uber kool powers for no reason, right? Anyway, there's a reason they got their powers. To fight a bad guy doing bad things. This is my writer's block: who are/is these/this bad guy(s)? These antagonists. The reason why the good guys need to exist. It's driving me crazy. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

P.S. The reason I didn't post this in the Writer's Section is because this thread itself doesn't really focus on literature or my story. It's pretty much centered around my request and people's suggestions for it.

Make it a twist or something.

I suppose I could give an idea. Make up a sort of "dark" elemental power. Make a character obtain it who a maybe a shy, quiet character who is close friends with one of the other characters. Maybe the character is bullied and doesn't defend his/herself, then wants ultimate revenge/wants to rule the world?

Just an idea, I suppose. :/

Well how long u want it to be.. if these ppl gained elemental powers u could make some generic bad guy that got the dark power and have one of ur "heros" pick it up.. onpurpos or acident... as for the badguy its self i cant really say unless u where to explain the good guys or like the era/time period
