View Full Version : Veg or Non-veg?

I'm guessing most of you must be non-veg. I'm a veg due to religious belief. But i read an article saying that a lot of people around the world are turning veg (yipee). It seems most people have started feeling for the animals. What do you guys think? If you are non-veg do you think you can evr turn veg? and if you are veg do you think you are missing something?

I am not a vegetarian, but I do not like eating pork (except in dire circumstances) and various other foods (like milk, just cheese, ice cream, chocolate, lots of candies, yogurt, etc.).
I am a fussy eater. I could not live without my meats though, especially since my favorite foods are lobster and prime rib, or maybe fillet mignon.
I eat vegetables and fruits, but just plants is way to blah for me and I also think it is unhealthy to eat solely plants your whole life due to my beliefs, although vegetables are healthier than meats.

I'm a non-vegetarian, myself. My personal preference really has nothing to do with religious or sociological beliefs and whatnot, or any other extraneous circumstances beyond my personal inclination.
I have tried a vegetarian diet and eating habits -- a friend a couple years back coerced me into trying it for a while -- but I found it just wasn't for me. I was fairly consistent and good about sticking to the diet for almost five months. However, over most of the course of that time, I just didn't feel as well or as healthy as I had felt prior to trying it. I have a very fast metabolism, so I eat a great deal of meats (or other high protein foods and such), and a great deal of high-carbohydrate foods as well. It's basically just to keep me from being lethargic and hungry all the time and keep me properly functioning. Vegetarian diets just leave me far too hungry and sluggish, so it's not something that really sits right with my body, personally.
Instead of just eating meats and the like, or just vegetables, fruits, etc, I just eat a lot of anything and everything. There's very little I won't eat. xD

no veg also an australian by dinos do you mean meat eaters or herbivores?
Non-veg. I have friends who are vegetarians, but although I've considered it, I've found no good reason to give up meat.
I like meat.
Of course, vegetarian dishes can be quite tasty also. I could become vegetarian, I guess, if I could get good enough rational reason for it.

Non-Veg. I can't live without meat XD
I can convert to being a veg, though it seems like while vegetables are healthy, living off them with no meat might not be a good idea.

I am doing my two meatball subs at a time! :)
I think the only way for one to truly be a vegetarian is to be born one in a family that is otherwise the temptation to eat meat would be too much in my opinion.
Oh, and the nerd in me compels me to tell you that cow flatulence doesn't destroy the ozone layer, methane is just a greenhouse gas and hence contributes, in a way, to global warming. Sorry.

LOL
you see, the one major flaw of that website, is that humans are omnivorous. meaning that we have features of both herbivores and carnivores. meaning that OF COURSE we would have similarities to some heribivorous digestive systems. on the other hand, i see that website duly left out an explanation as to why we have sharp incisors, or the fact that we DO have gastric hydrochloric acid in our stomachs, or why we have gallbladders that secrete fat-dissolving bile.

I'm non-veg. :)
However, a good friend of mine is veg (because of medical reasons)... his body doesn't digest the protein found in meat (beans, etc...) ... so he has to REALLY watch what he eats. ... He eats at our house a lot, so we've come to learn and love various vegan dishes. :) I'm still a meat-eater, though. I can't give up fried chicken and steak.

Keep in mind there's a difference between a Vegetatian and a Vegan. vegetarians eat meat to an extent. A lot of vegetarians eat fish and chicken. A vegan is strictly an eater of greens. I personally eat meat. I do however hate the self-righteous vegans who have the Holier than Thou attitude about their food preferences. Like they're saving the world or something.

I'm not currently a vegetarian. I did become one for a short while (and I was also vegan for a shorter while.) I started eating meat again mostly because it is rather delicious. I don't eat it all the time, though. I've been known to occasionally choose a veggie-burger over some cow... but that is usually due to what I'm in the mood for at the time, not any beliefs that I hold either way.

humans are omnivores, we eat MEAT and greens
and you need to eat both, thats how your body works, you need protein

So it's myself and two others of 30 some odd ppl who are Veg. lol
I've been Veg for about 7 or 8 months now, and to be honest it's not that tough. Admittedly, I've adopted a more hands-on and creative culinary attitude, and you do need to pro-actively get your protein and iron from alternatives.
I chose to go Veg purely on ethics. I've seen videos I can't forget.
I've got nutrition info and know where some good literature can be found, so message me if you're curious ;)

I'm a total carnivore. I don't think I can ever survive only on veggies @_@
I'm a big animal lover but I don't know, I can't really give up on meat =/
The thing is according to our religion, the animal is sacrificed in the most humane way as possible (that is, killing it without causing it pain) so maybe because of that I don't feel bad about eating meat *shrugs*
However, veggies are equally important in our diet so intake of meat and veggies should be balanced for a healthy diet :redbiggri

Dude... I need meat with every meal. I don't know how those grass eaters do it... If it weren't so unhealthy to eat just one food group and I'd be a total carnivore... but until they find supplements that can allow that lifestyle then I'm an omnivore.

Non veg, can't give up my meats.
I do know a few kids who's family are full blown vegian(sp? they don't eat ANYTHING that comes from an animal, no milk, no eggs, nothing) and those kids are on the verge of death so I'm gonna just keep eating my steak and chicken.
Still tho I don't disagree with their theories, it is wrong to eat another living thing but its dead anyways so why not?

i am not a vegetarian I love animals but as long as I don't see them being killed I can eat them. There's something about meat that is in a way addicting. Once yuo taste it you'll always remember that taste and you'll miss it. That's why people are making food to look like meat when it really isn't

Wow! I am one of only 7 veggie people? In the end everyone knows best for themselves, so I am not about to judge anyone, but most of your alls comments didn’t sound very logical to me.
Just because it tastes good doesn’t mean it is good for you or that justifies the fact that animals are treated like corn crops.
If you can eat meat as long as you don’t see them be killed does not change the fact that they are and you are just blinding yourself to it..
Ah I am sick at arguing my beliefs at this point.. I will do you all a favor and the tree hugger nature boy will shut up.

Ah, I see. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I am not from the States. ^^
Just because it tastes good doesn’t mean it is good for you or that justifies the fact that animals are treated like corn crops.
I respected the animals which I am going to kill for food.
Well, it is not only that it tastes good it is vital as part of your daily nutrition. I am speaking from my part, though. Of course I am not as crazy as to try all sorts of exotic animals for food... Growing up in a community which is comfortable in ingesting meat, it is either that you go vegetarian on certain days or it is due to some religious practices.
If you can eat meat as long as you don’t see them be killed does not change the fact that they are and you are just blinding yourself to it.
I have seen how the animals are slaughtered. I have seen how horrible it is. We have to sacrifice something to gain something. I know some of my friends who couldn't stand them being killed and turned vegetarian. I guess you need a lot more courage to eat meat. :D
