I know we clearly can say that ichigo would win know, But the first time they fought why didn't ikkaku use his bankai? I don't think he wanted to save it for zaraki that bad, I know he already had it and he could've killed ichigo. I wanna know what you think

Didn't he say it still wasn't quite ready when he actually used it?
And that was a month or two after the fight with Ichigo, so he probably wasn't ready to use it in combat back then, if he could even use it at all.

But if he did have it and was able to use it as well as he did when he finnaly showed it I think that he would have won by breaking Ichigo's sword with his bankai's massive attack power.

EDIT: I was assuming they fought while Ichigo still had only Shikai. Bankai Ichigo would easily beat Bankai Ikakku.

first off it's like you're pitting shikai ichigo vs bankai ikkaku. ikkaku didn't use his bankai coz he doesn't wanna get noticed n nominated for captain or VC. plus, it's not like kubo had all +200 chapters worked out ahead of time such that he knew ikkaku would obtain bankai even before ichigo had a fight with him.n disregarding all that, ikkaku's bankai only increases strength aka attack power. ichigo's increases speed n power, n also has a defense/shield ability.

so here's what we've got so far:
- if ichigo uses getsuga tenshou then it's all over.
- if ichigo uses shunpo then it's all over.
- if ichigo uses both at once then it's all over.

If He did it in the past ichigo would not b living but as @smacharia8 said the creater probably didnt go dat far into manga wen creating them

Simple math here, unfortunately.

Ichigo > Grimmjow in the Manga

Therefor, Ichigo is strong enough to be the Sexta Espada, obviously.

Ikkaku doesn't have a limit in the real world, and he barely managed to beat Edorado. Edorado is a mere Numeros.

Sexta Espada > Numeros, I'd say so.

Ichigo wins, no question. Ichigo could beat Ikkaku with only Bankai, ignoring his Vaizarding abilities.

Limits are only for Vice Captain's and Captains. No other Shinigamis have limits. Ikkaku is third seat of the 11th Squad. Third Seat =/= Vice Captain or Captain.

Ikkaku was giving his all.

@obbywan: even without manga stuff, ichigo would still win. shikai getsuga tenshou would be more than enough to beat ikkaku.

Shikai Ichigo=Zaraki. Zaraki, captain of 11th division, most likely > Ikkaku, the third seat of the 11th division. And since Ichigo has been getting stronger in the manga... there really is no question that Ichigo will win.

Wasn't it the case that no one was allowed to use their bankai/(shikai?:eek13: ) until yamamoto said they could, regardless of whether he wanted to or not? I forget the reason Ukitake stopped Byakuya using his shikai, but i thought byakuya responded saying yamamoto had just declared that they could. Hmmm i think i'm going to have to start again soon, i'm losing too much of the story these days. :lol
