The things with vampires is that normally they are likely to be carrying a sword and be masterful with it due to

1. them being ancient creatures from very late ages, thus using a sword instead of the more modern gun.. mastery over the sword due to time allowed.
2. their speed being an advatage in the usage of a sword.
3. A vampire having centuries of knowledge would be quite intelligent.
4. I love swords.. werewolfs are typically more beastial and harder to control themselves and are more vunerable to the smarter vampire.

to answer your question, yes they can eat what ever they want, but the the feeling come to an extreme only blood can fill your hunger.

Forgot to comment on this. Um, you're entirely forgetting about Vlad the Impaler. HE was the "original" vampire, and even got the Dracula thing started.

He dipped bread in the blood of his victims (though they say he did this rarely.. if more than once).


There was also another one. Not sure where she was on the timeline, but she was some queen or something. She'd have innocent girls from her kingdom brought to her to be killed so she could bathe in their blood.

She only wanted little girls though, and it got so bad that her "supply" began to run out, so she started "enlisting the aid" of older ones. I forgot what ended up happening to her.. *shrug*

I'd have to know what form of vampire specifically if I were signing my life away. Vampire the masquerade? Pick and choose pieces of myth? Doing so on a mythological creature would seem akin to choosing all of your characteristics on birth, not something that can happen. I'll go on generalities and some stereotypes.

1 - Sunlight. If it hurt me, and I could see without it, who cares.

2 - Garlic/running water/crosses/holy ground/silver/carnies and other things that would make me suddenly get cat like in my desire to hiss at it - this would suck. its a negative.

3 - sustenance - If I don't need it, I won't miss it.

4 - Blood flow - Yeah, some of them don't have flowing blood depending on whose vampire info it comes from. No sex for me, ever again. Its an issue now but again if it made me not care, no problem.

5 - Do I need to sleep in dirt of my grave? That's another negative. No matter how you look at it. I am also not shutting myself in a casket during the day.

6 - partial immortality - Long life, meh hope I don't get too bored. I'm not the type to spend centuries in some spire re-reading nathanial hawthorne, and sorry but no 'city life' is that entertaining. Not getting sick would be the bonus here.

7 - Mirror reflection - I'd better have some ghoul servants to see to it that my hair is not sticking out anywhere. In hindsight, leaving such a task to a ghoul servant isn't that good of a plan.

8 - Blood feeding. Even if everything else was cool, I have moral qualms about drinking human blood, and I'm not getting ridiculous with pill supplements or donated to the creepy guy who never goes out during the day just because he might be doing some hemoglobin research or on the extreme drinking it from a goblet on Saturday nights. Committing such evil even on enemies is still evil. I am not evil, I am merely stuck on the fence between the two.

My beliefs prohibit me from being a vampire, so please, don't bite me. I have low blood iron anyway, go for those that will fill you with plenty of unnatural energy.

It would be cool to be a vampire*lykan (lykan is derived from the Greek word lykanthropos which means Wolf Man (lýkos "wolf" + ánthrōpos "man")) hybrid, like in the Underworld movies. You have the best of both sides and you can go out in the sun thanks to your lycan half. Also if you go by the movie lycans have evolved to beable to transform at will and keep thier consciousness. So by being a hybrid you could stay in your vampire/human form, and then if you need to you can transform into your hybrid form for a boost of power and senses.

Well - I am a night person, plus I'm not very social - so people wouldn't even notice if I wouldn't come out during night.
What's so bad about blood? When you are a vampire its your food. You are eating meat for example, vampires wouldn't do that, and probably also think it's gross - who knows.
And why should I travell over water?
And who says that these rules are true anyway? Ever met a real vampire? We don't know if the stuff we here about them is true.

I meant like in Stephen King novels, all D&D realms, Norrath, Oblivion, I Am Legend, Gothic Tales of the Vampire (something like that, I forget the whole name), Dracula, Van Helsing, and a lot of other novels. I was taking the generalizing the rules has those that are used the most, I know there are some exceptions (Trinity Blood for example), but the creator of the thread just said vampires, so I assumed the most popular (to my knowledge) rules would be applied.

I never said you should be a lich or that you were wrong and stupid in deciding to want to be a vampire, I just said that I wouldn't like it. I honestly don't even know why I quoted your post... But....humans have even more downsides. That doesn't mean that I see them as weak though. We have survived all those years, always had to fight to live....we are a strong race, even if we have our downsides.

It's nice to know that those "lich" are pretty strong....but who is known better? "vampires" or "lich"?

I didn't say they were weak, I said that they were one of the easiest of the popular undead monsters to kill and that Lich's were stronger. The post didn't say "vampire or human" either, but I would prefer to be human than a vampire most likely (cuz if they are real, Theres a way to obtain lichdom!). Yea Vamps are known more, but whose more powerful? Lich's (even the weakest one could kill the strongest vamp). Lich's survive also, some even become gods (since we are speaking like they're real :winking56 ).

You guys don't have blood, so you have to be careful or else you will wipe yourself out by killing humans. Thats the main reason I wouldn't choose one lol. You could eat animals and stuff too, but it's nothing like Human blood. Or so I'm told.

In nearly every piece of vampire fiction vampires are massive outnumbered by humans. Possibly because they're selective in who they turn and they're often killed by vampire hunters. If a few rogue vampires started turning hundreds of people and those people started turning more people you might have a scenario where vampires would run out of food...
