View Full Version : Should I trade in my old DS for a DS Lite?
.... especially that sexy Red/Black one (omfg <3)
The answer should obviously be yes, but my lack of social life leads me to be overly attached to things >__> I've had this DS since they first came out, its been overly loved xD Since everything BUT the games are being moved to DS Lite only (try finding a regular DS charger in wal-mart... it is epic-hard) and since I will get decent in-store credit off this, my gamecube and a few old games i'm trading in that won't be such a bad deal (its the $150 bundle with the DS, brain age 2 and the leather case)
... I'm gonna get like $40 for my GC, though its like practically new O_o Its no where near being worn out, but since I'm getting a Wii and it never gets used its just a waste of space at the moment.
So should I retain my original DS love or trade it in for the DS Lite?

Well.. In my opinion its worth it.. the DS Lite is more customizable .. things are made for it these days as you said.. Plus its super sexy... People always stare at mine when I 'release' it.

I'm really kind of mixed on my opinion in this, but it really depends on how attached you are to your old DS. You need to decide for yourself whether your attachment to your old one outweighs your desire for the DS Lite.
If I were you, I would probably find a friend or relative who's interested and sell it to them instead, that way you still see your old DS every once in a while.
I gave my old Gameboy Advance to my sister despite my strong attachment to it, as it was my very first handheld system and brings me back memories of my now deceased Pokemon Crystal.
The only person I know that wants an original DS will probably beg and plead me to give it to them rather then buy it (he REALLY needs to get a job).
I remember my old game boy pocket, which was my first little gameboy... My grandma gave it away to charity as soon as I got my GBC XPPPPP Which I kept my GBC and GBA <3 mine
I dunno, I'm gonna think on it all day and this afternoon I'll make up my mind. I'm selling my gamecube anyway today so I might as well do it all now (I'm gonna have to kill some time after the psychiatrist visit due to it being 5 in the afternoon in the middle of rush hour X_X so theres the way to go)
I would rather sell it to someone I know but I'll have the "lemme get the money" and wait months before I see a dime if I see one at all (All the while being begged to let them have the DS already and giving in eventually knowing me) I'd be better to get it over fast, all I can hope is that it finds another person who will love it just as much...
Damn it sounds like I'm talking about a DOG here O_o

ehh.. i would just buy the lite... i wouldnt trade in... i have sentimental value in my stuff.. i still have my gbc...lol... i play the old pokemon games on it.
Sell or break your DS, and meet some new people, if your that attached to a DS you don't need a new one(and neither the old). :P
Seriously though...yeah, just sell it.
I don't have alot of money atm, so trading in stuff is a better idea...
Though not really, I just traded in 2 games I payed about $55 total together for them originally and only got $5.50 for them, that was shit.
And they were only gonna give me $10 for my gamecube (though its perfect, **** that)
I'm half tempted to just buy the new one, I shouldn't but I'll probably make more money off my stuff selling it elsewhere

Try selling stuff in the news paper. You will probably get some more money because thats the cheapest people gonna get.

good old days my friend. although i myself was fortunate to be around back when the FIRST game boy was released. i had some fun times with it especially when i was playing pokemon red. to be honest it was a bummer having to replace the damn thing with FOUR double A batteries. plus taking into account the fact that you could kill a mountain lion with it, if not knock it unconcious.

you're better off keeping the DS phat. anyone who has the money for a Wii can also earn enough to buy a DS Lite without sacrificing older gaming possessions.

i agree... just save... ask santa for it...;)
I'm not buying the Wii, my grandma is xD
Its technically not mine till I steal it when I go off to college xD I'll be buying all the games for it and whatnot but I have to share it till then and its gotta stay at my grandparents XP
My cousins will break it, then I'll slaughter em @_@
I miss the original gameboy xDD Though I never had one personally I played with my step brother's alot, and yes, you could kill someone/something with it if you chunked it at their head xDD
I think I will take all this other money i'm getting from selling my books and crap (which i get a better price on XP) and just pay the difference and by the DS Lite without getting rid of my other DS, even though I can get $60 off of it. I will be slaughtered if my grandma finds out (meaning I'll have to hide my old one and just pretend I traded it in and paid like $20 difference for the new one *big lie, but she wouldnt know the price*), but hey, just like the Atari and NES stuff, this will all be retro some day and you'll find some idiot willing to pay big bucks to have it in their collection XDD

wow your grandma must be damn rich or something. i have a good relationship with my family, but there's no way in hell a relative will ever get me something on the caliber of a nintendo Wii.
Umm.... xDDD We're really not rich, especially right now xD But when not overwhelmed with bills yes she can easily afford it, though it will probably take out of christmas some. SHE really wants it for Wii Sports >__> I want the new Trauma Center and twilight princess xDD

heh trauma center is easily one of the most fun games. it's pretty impressive too considering it's a launch title.
lol with a brand-spanking new Wii, i wouldn't worry too much about christmas. having a wii will make up for any bad presents you get rofl.
you're probably right xDD Even the clothes that are 10 sizes too small (like the year I got a kids small sweater rather then adult small o.o;;;)
(2000th post FTW)
Ok at this time, I'm just gonna go buy the new one >_> If I really want to get rid of my other one, I can probably get more out of it elsewhere.

trade it i think thats the best way
Well, after today their special is ending and they'll only give you $40 instead of $60 for old DS
I forgot you needed the charger the day I tried to take it... X_X So I'm just gonna get the new one and sell the other one if I so desire, and probably make a bit more then that, but for now I plan on keeping it... I may keep one here and one in dial-up land so I never forget to have one with me xDDDD

lol @ dial-up land. yeah you're better off keeping a backup DS.
I just bought that DS Lite yesterday and I'm dissapointed... it looks so cheap XP
Atleast they moved that damn power button, I'm ALWAYS hitting it on accident and ruining my games >_<
