Well... it almost goes without saying but, they're both good at different things, you know? Laptops are portable and easy to set up, but you'll always be able to find a faster, bigger, better computer in a desk top.

personally i prefer a desktop, my desktop is easily upgradeable and it is relatively cheap to upgrade to play the new games :)
Though it does depend on what you want, if you are going to be using the internet on the go and writing word documents on the train, go for a laptop, if your gonna be inside, runnig high power programmes and playing games, doing anything that drains power, go for a desktop

desktop seems a bit better than laptops, for 1 thing, its harder to upgrade and cost alot for some of the parts for laptops... desktop is easy, u can do it ur self... 2nd thing u it has much more space than laptops, the max space i kno of its 100gbs, while desktop has atleast 300gbs... to 72,000 RPM, 10,000 RPM, to S-ATA hard drives.
graphic cards are limited to laptops.. unlike desktop its different.. just shove a graphic in there lOl .. dunno waht im talking about LOl

Lunar took the words right out of my mouth, with laptops, they are more expensive and are limited in the system specs. The only reason if you were to ever get a laptop is if you travel alot since you cant really bring a desktop with you :p

I got a desktop and a laptop. (I need the laptop for "school")
I can say the desktop runs better, but at least my laptop reboots without crashing itself.

I had a modified desktop which looked really cool and I enjoyed messing around with it (Crashed 3 times so go figure) but it's such a wicked comp. I had to move to Singapore solo so I couldnt bring my desktop but since it was compulsory to have one cause in my edu system, we needed them so dad did the most raddest thing. I got a laptop! Toshiba A80 Satellite which did not even come out on the shelves at the time he bought it mind you and gave it to me. It's black and silver and cool. XD Bring it everywhere I go. I would say for fast access the laptop definitely but the desktop brings more gaming action and comfort dont you reckon?

I have a HP desktop at home, which runs fine... but my lappy is my bestest buddy in the whole WORLD!! (I DO NOT HAVE FRIENDS) I mean, 1 GB of RAM!! However, only 30 GB of hard drive space, .. come on... i think my ipod has more...

Well I used to prefer desktops, but my parents always bug me about spending too much time on the PC. Now I think privacy is a big factor for me. I mean it's not like I'm a porn whore or anything it's just I'm 18, and when I watch bleach or any other show I do watch people look at me like I'm watching looney tunes or something, and then i look immature and stuff. I'm even looking to get a laptop right now

I love my laptop, but it's a Dell and I've decided that forevermore I'm going to hate Dell.
But anyway, I use my laptop all the time, but at the same time have to use my desktop moniter because the LCD on my laptop broke. The graphics are terrible on said moniter so laptop, laptop, laptop!
If I could choose a laptop and a desktop for the same price, I would choose the desktop, because you get much more power from a desktop at the same price. If I could choose between a laptop and a desktop of the same specs, I would choose a laptop, simply because they are portable and desktops are not.

I think it depends on what you want it for. Word processing and some light gaming - I'd go laptop. Heavy gaming, graphic design and video editing - definitely desktop as you're gonna need the power you get for your money.
