So, who wins? Sasori has waaaaay more long-distance options, but Kisame can control the battlefield. I wonder how well Sasori can manipulate 100 puppets under water...not to mention Samehada's chakra cutting ability. Cut the strings to the puppets and they can't move.

The chakra cutting ability becomes slightly nulled when Sasori controls himself.
In all honesty, i don't know who would win this. I'd be more tempted to say Sasori, based on the fact we've seen his moves (and he is pretty damn powerful). You're right that Kisame can control the battlefield, but Sasori can control the battle by changing his puppets, decoys, ect. (it makes sense that a puppeteer would dictate the battle flow anyway)
But then, we have to remember that kisame most likely has a high-powered secret move or final ability, that we haven't seen yet.

I would say Kisame.
We haven't seen him fight for real yet or any of his major jutsu, but he is suppose to have a truckload of chakra which=Naruto's at a ****ing 30%!!! That pretty much says it.
He could easily cutdown Sasori's puppets with Samehada anyway. Sakura didn't a have problem doing that.

How would Kisame beat Sasori's first puppet? He hasn't shown the speed to get close, and he hasn't shown any long range attacks that could smash it.
Even if he DID get close, and whack it with his shaving showd, and hit it just right so this very defensive puppet breaks, he will most likely end up being hit by one of the many poisonous attacks in it.
So even if Kisame manages to smash Sasori's first puppet, he will most likely be poisoned, and lose the fight.

Sakura didn't have the reach that Kisame had, but she did have an antidote for poison. I was thinking a Mizu bunshin could use water prison on the puppet long enough to get to cut the chakra strings, then shatter it before the strings are reattached. As far as long-range options, if the ocean was already out his sharks could take care of that, as long as Sasori was on or in the water.

I am not talkign about the Kazekage puppet, I am talking about his scorpion one. if he was in that, Kisame wouldn't be able to get close enough to shatter it, to even reach Sasori. His tail is far longer range then Kisame's sword, and the numerus poison needles, blades, tail, and so on would make short work of any clones/sharks that got close.

Kisame could easily turn the tables by flooding the whole place with water. Sasori's puppets would greatly decrease in speed whereas Kisame would be faster.

Kisame gets faster in water?
Sasori can't get above the water?
Water has any effect on Iron sand?
If anything, Sasori doesn't have to breathe, I dont think Kisame has gills. (despite his appearance)

If Sasori even gets a BIT of poison into Kisame, he is done for. Sakura was lucky she had those antidotes or she was a goner. Anybody who faces Sasori without proper antidotes is pretty much done for unless they are EXTREMELY fast like the 4th Hokage.

Sasori is imba. Poison = Kill.. Even if kisame is fast ( we dont know...) he would be able to dodge ALL of them imo.... So Sasori.

Kisame could easily turn the tables by flooding the whole place with water. Sasori's puppets would greatly decrease in speed whereas Kisame would be faster.
And Sasori could put poison in the water, we do not know its solubility and whether it dilutes to a certain extent (bring on the chemistry).
But I say Sasori takes this because he has the speed advantage, the numbers advantage, the immortality advantage, and the one hit kill advantage.
Not to mention the 3rd Kazekage puppet and iron sand spamming.:redbiggri

Kisame has a distinctive shark-like appearance, complete with pale blue skin, small white eyes, gill-like facial structures, and sharp triangular teeth.
I'd say he probably does have gills, it'd make sense seeing as how he's a water-based character.
As for the fight, I'd definitely go Kisame. Keep in mind that, after he floods the whole place with water (which will probably be his opener), he doesn't even have to be near. Just mizu bunshin + water prison + five sharks feeding frenzy.
He's got a whole HOST of high-level spells at his command, and when the field's in his favor, I don't see any way this guy could be beaten except for his natural elemental weakness (either kakashi or sasuke is going to kill him, really, unless they pull Raiga from the fillers back. XD)
And seriously, they were both in akatsuki at the same time. I'm sure Kisame is more than aware of what the poison can do.
I would say Kisame.
We haven't seen him fight for real yet or any of his major jutsu, but he is suppose to have a truckload of chakra which=Naruto's at a ******* 30%!!! That pretty much says it.

I agree, Isn't Kisame also faster then Sasori, maybe not.

Sasori would win, the only way kisame could hurt him is if he gets close but sasori can keep him away with his puppets and poisan gas.

i think sasori could win if he put poison in the water if Kisame flooded the place he'd have to breathe in the water

Thing is, Kisame isn't dumb. He's known to have brute strength, but he rarely underestimates his opponents. He plays around, sure. But underestimating? Doubt it.

I give this to Kisame.

I think Sasori definitely has this. Kisame is simply not fast enough to dodge all the poisonous needles. The only reasons why Sakura and Chiyo survived were:
1) Sakura is a medical ninja and had an antidote
2) Chiyo knew Sasori's techniques (most of them)
3) Sasori willingly lost
Kisame has NONE of these advantages and would not survive. He would die a slow painful death.

Tough one but I think I would have to say Kisame.
