yes i pre-ordered that son of a biotch. looks sweet.
discuss?
I still want that 80s game >__>
Not much to discuss probably till its out, but it looks badass. Will most definately be on my xmas list!
Well, I'm really considering Rock Band over this.
The idea of forming an online band over XBL really excites me.
That being said GH would be a much cheaper purchase, and will have online features, if not nearly as cool.
I'll have to think about it, they both look good.

I don't see how stuff like AFI, Beastie Boys and The Killers deserve a spot on a game called "Guitar Hero". >.>
but I'm really looking forward to DragonForce, In Flames, Metallica, Scorpions, Tenacious D, Slayer, Alice Cooper, Maiden and Black Sabbath.

Ill mute it when I have to play a killers song or (especially) an AFI song. But this games looks awesome!!! I'll get both rock band and this most likely, but GH3 has a better song selection imo (more :headbang metal:headbang ).

Konami now owns GH
With the success of the Guitar Hero series it is of great interest to understand how Harmonix and Activision are able to continue production of these games as Konami owns patents for guitar simulation games. Seen in loading screens for the GH III demo, Guitar Freaks gameplay patents are mentioned with an agreement between Activision and Konami which is allowing production of the GH series to continue legally.

I bought the game yesterday and played it nonstop for hours. The game is definitly more entertaining than GH II with its quirky animations and much prettier places to perform.
The battles against the boss are fun, even the one against Lou the Devil which took me an hour to beat. I find the battle mode really cool and definitely makes things interesting. I will probably be online for a good portion of this weekend playing it.

is online as good as they say?

Online is actually pretty fun. I'm not sure what they've been saying, so I can't confirm/deny it. All I've done online is battle mode so far, but I eventually may do pro-face off.
It's definitly fun to fight some person on live in GH. The only problem is when the opponent is expert level and can ace hard parts like nothing over you.
....or if they choose to battle on Through Fire and Flames. -_-
I love Guitar Hero, I played #2 at my mates house, it was awesome. I sucked at it but the guitar is sweet. I'll probably get #3 after/for Christmas.

I got it and it's awesome. Online is fun and boss battles are neat. It could have more songs that are actually "guitar hero"-esque (AFI and The Killers ARE NOT in any way talented guitarists). I hope they have a "total metal" pack that is loaded w/ some sick death metal and other metal goodies!

One by Metallica is a damn fine addition to the guitar hero playlist. i just wish it was possible to have more.....

One actually isn't that great imo... Raining Blood and Number of the Best destroy it. It's a decent song though.

Bought it 3 weeks ago, playing it non stop, My first GH ever and 3 weeks into it I'm already on Expert!
It was really strange, when I first got it I sucked on Easy, then 3 days later, I was 4-5 Staring songs on Medium, the 3-4 days later, I'm doing the same on Hard and this week, I'm on Expert! O_o.
I think it's because of my skill at rhythm games in general, I play Stepmania like every day (Beat Dragonforce songs on hardest difficulties). And DJMAX Portables, I've beaten the game and gotten an 80% on Normal for every song besides, Stalker MX, and Taekewonburi MX. So I think I just had to get used to the GH system before I got better, like my Body was adjusting to playing.
Anyways it's awesome, I bought it for the PS3 and haven't regretted it one bit. I prefer it over rock band for it's cartoonish look, GH has these little effects for each character when you activate SP, like Johnny Napalm shoots fire from his guitar and things like that. Rock Band however seems to be a little to serious.

I LOVE the guitar hero series, but III just seemed to be lacking to me. I think it was mostly the inclusion of the boss battles.
Completely unnecesary in my opinion, and way to difficult to pass on the higher difficulties.

scorehero forums should help you out then. they currently have note charts for all songs in the game i think. there's a possibility that it's only the normal song list though. i'm not sure about the bonus songs.
btw, not sure if anyone cares anymore at this point, but standalone guitars are going to be released sometime in 2008.

^ Lol, contradictory my dear. :P No one said that you said that 80's rock music suck. XD
Hmm. I think the difficulty is just about right. I would say so myself, I would not want
to finish all the difficulty in perfect scores in 1 day or few.

^So true, If I could do that I wouldn't touch GH anymore.

that reminds me, anyone playing the PC version of the game. and no i don't think Frets on Fire is a good substitute.....FoF is a pile of crap....there i said it.

FoF never worked for me XD so lawlz. Then again I wouldnt know the Pc version since I am not using a PC. XD
Is it just me or did the difficulty difference between medium and hard become MEDIUM AND EXPERT? Especially Raining Blood- I finally passed that song or Hard the other day after owning the game since the day after it came out.

Raining Blood is Satan. I'm trying to beat it on Expert and its kicking my ass. Only song I got to beat before I face Lou. The main problem is that damn Mosh 1 kills me 99% of the time.

I'm ,as well, stuck on Raining Blood, I'm kinda upset that I can't beat one of my most favorite songs ever
Ethanol

I can beat Through Fire and the Flames on hard easily though now. I was playing it and going "this is strangely slow". Guess im just so used to the speed of expert. lol

i'm only in the hard difficulty.

i guess by now though, everyone who has wanted to play the game already bought the official bundle by now anyway, but this is a good bit of news for anyone who wants to purchase another controller WITHOUT buying a bundle...

just in case none of you are aware. it's been officially confirmed that the Wii version of GH3 also happens to be the easiest to hack...meaning it's possible to start importing your own songs/notecharts

Quick question does Guitar Hero III feature any voice chat in online mode? Also does the Guitar Hero guitar work for Rock Band? I don't want 10000 different plastic instruments.
Miyata
06-22-2008, 01:56 PM
Yes, you can plug your headset into the guitar (there's a small sort of alcove in the bottom right side) and chat through online play (or distract them whilst that killer combo is coming xD).
And yes again, the Guitar Hero guitar does work for Rock Band, however the Rock Band guitar will not work for Guitar Hero.

I believe you are talking about the 360 guitar version, I have the game on PS3 does that still have chat features?

Agreed. That's pretty much where I quit and just started playing for fun.
