Puso (the Heart)

They say you should follow your heart
It will lead you to your the right choices,
The right path, the future- your desire.

But how can one follow him, when he is immobile?
How will he lead the way, when he has no feet to take that step?
Strong, pumping, pumping- the life force, the blood all over
Yet so weak, easily broken- like a glass ornament in the middle of a busy road

The road- fast, aggressive, always alive
Like the blood of people driven by their motives
Dreams, love, hope and ambition
Not always unattainable, but do we always have to grasp it?

No, the heart cannot walk- yet we follow it
It cannot speak- yet we listen
It does not have eyes- but it shows us the right path
It does not have feet- for it is up to our feet to take that first step

No hands- but it feels more than any other
No words- it does not need words to express itself
Beating, beating from the very start
And it shall be beating, beating to the very end.

I loved this poem. It's a real thoughtful response to the heart. When I first read the poem, especially the first stanza, I was reminded of the HSC for some reason. It's a great poem, Ken :)
