So anywho, I heard on the IRC's that zen was banned for decreasing his own warn bar. I also heard that this was done in response to VampyreLord/Nathan increasing his warn after he posted a one-line response in the Debates section.

Now, I'm not here to debase any of the SModerators or the Admins. However, I would like to offer up a bit of advice: Be a little gentler.

The whole thing with zen started from a case of a SMod being a bit zealous in his reprimands. Of course, anyone who thinks that something is unjust is going to do what he can to make the unjust decision go away. So, when zen used his "mod power" in the RPG Section to decrease his warn, it was his natural response.

Then, to top it off, rather than being warned about such actions, he is immediately banned from the forums for a two-week period. It seems to me that this whole situation got just a little out of hand.

First off, I have no idea whether zen posts one-line responses in the Debates section often. However, if this was a first-time offense, I doubt that a warn increase was truly warranted. I know I'm not a member of the C46 or anything like that, but don't you guys think it's a bit much to do something like that to a member who doesn't do things like that on a frequent basis? zen's probably one of the better members of this forum, and he was instantly warned for a little slip-up. I've probably done worse myself, and I've never gotten a warn increase.

Second, the same applies to the banning situation. If he isn't allowed to mess with his rep, then warn him about it first, rather than banning him instantly for such a long period of time. Sure, a one or two day ban may have been warranted in the situation, it really isn't my place to say. But two weeks with no written warning about the issue prior to that?

Just a bit much, in my opinion.

The warn meter has the ability to ban people, almost giving regular users able to ban other users. Luckily I disabled that though. You guys knew you were going to get into trouble if you were playing around with the warn meter; I hope so or you lack common sense :<

Err...I haven't touched the warn bar AT ALL. I'm simply doing this thread because I think you guys made a hasty decision and it may have been a slight mistake.

I know you guys have to be "hardasses" and that the forum is a dictatorship, not a democracy, but let's be honest. Stuff isn't going to be good if you really treat everything like that.

Logic and common sense aside, you people haven't actually laid down any rules about the warn bar. Sure, you SAY that the rules that are in place for Mod and Admin abuse apply to the warn bar, but since you disabled ban capability for it, then it doesn't really apply.

All I'm saying is that zen and the others probably don't deserve what you guys dished out to them. If you didn't want them playing with it, you should have told them not to play with it rather than banning them right off the bat. You don't get the message across by beating a baby with a sledgehammer. You get it across by telling the baby no, and then if it continues, you slap it on the bottom.

I am very lenient until now. I do not need this crap occurring in the forums. I should not have to place rules for every single thing; I should not be "holding your hand." Its a temp ban; you can live without CB for weeks cant you not? I know you didnt touch it Jaran; Was referring to them.

IMO his ban was unnecessary, a warning would have sufficed. Now, as far as the warn for spamming goes a member that's been around for as long as he should know what is expected of him when it comes to posting.

Honestly, I don't care much about the fact that I'm getting banned. I made a post that I decided against posting at first but I'll pull that out as well...

As per the P.S. in the appeal I had written up, I was gonna post that in the announcement section since I was in a shitty mood and was tired after getting out of work but decided against it instead. Honestly, I know it's wrong for people to remove others warning levels. And even removing mine was bad..ish even though by now I think it would be gone/near gone anyways. Though, I did ban Seff. I won't deny it and I wouldn't deny it even if you guys had no way to prove it. That was an abuse of my power because I was bored. You guys have chosen many times to not make me a moderator and I'm sure that this will be held against me in the future. Oh well, ban me if you wish... I don't have time to be bothered with this. Feel free to ban me, I'll be gone for a week starting on monday anyways. It'd be a one week ban for me which, while still shitty in my opinion, isn't bad seeing all the hours I work anyways. I do feel bad for the others getting banned but removing other peoples warnings is just stupid since those other people are likely to get more warnings where as I was extremely unlikely to get any warning since I posted outside of the QUincy or RPG sections like what... once? in the last month or so?

edit: Oh, and if yuo need me for anything on the RPG, just hit up my email or on IRC although it'd be slightly more annoying to deal with it would work.

Woah, I only just saw this.

I do not recall warning him, but I do not use the warn bar except in the case of multiple offenders or members who have been around long enough to have no excuse for not knowing the rules. It's a standard procedure, inform, warn, temp ban, total ban.

Either way, there is no excuse for his actions. If he wanted to contest my judgement he should have spoken to me about it.

This was in appeal to me getting banned for dropping the warning you gave me. It was basically amounting to me getting banned for dropping my warning once even though I'm never around to get the warning anyways and it would have worn off before I got warned again(I have yet to be warned again). I didn't really contest this besides that post. I left for the weekend and came back to see that Jaran was appealing for me, which is much appreciated but pointless. The only reason I didn't speak to you about it was because I honestly didn't care if I got banned for a couple weeks since one of those weeks I was planning on being down in Tennessee hanging out with MooL anyways... Needless to say, this is all completely pointless now since the warning bar has been removed, at least from the "fake mods" of the rpg and division sections. I'm not sure about the actual mods though.
