So, guys. There’s a gorgeous new JRPG out now. Eternal Sonata – it’s about the life of a composer named “Chopin.”
Apparently 3 hours before his death, Chopin crafted a dream-world in his mind, revolving around people of who suffer the same fate as himself.
Chopin is a famous composer from a long time ago who died of tuberculosis blah blah blah.

Let’s talk about gameplay stuffs. I picked up my copy today, and I gotta say, it’s pretty fun. The combat is a mix of games like Grandia, or a Tales of…game.
In which it mixes real time combat with turn based elements.
The game is turn based, but you control your characters in real time.
You’re given 5 or so seconds to run across the field (while in a non-random encounter) smack your enemies with as many combos and possible before your time ends. The combat
Eternal Sonata features a battle system centered around musical elements and character-unique special attacks. Light and darkness plays a part in the appearance and abilities of enemies on the battlefield, as well as the types of magic that can be cast.

So it’s not going to set the world on fire, Jrpgs never do.

But what’s really attractive about Eternal Sonata is – no not the top hat wearing main character that also lacks a monocle – but the art direction.
It’s absolutely stunning. Look at the screenshots, while it’s not as HDish as newer JRPGs like Blue Dragon, this game completely takes the cake for style and art, and just…looks a lot better than anything on the market.

Vibrant landscapes that pop out at you as you frolic through them. Makes the game a lot of fun to just…look at. Honestly, the game might be worth
picking up just for the art and characters.
