Well, its *finally* out. I got my copy yesterday, and due to work, and my roommate wanting to do an Avatar marathon, I'm only just now past the first dungeon. But I am already in <3...
My two favorites so far is the ability to WRITE ON THE MAP (sooooooooooo glad for that) and the ability to draw the path of the boomerang.
Anyone else have it, playing it, want to weigh in? No spoilers though, por favor :D

i SHOULD at least be getting one more paycheck from work, so i'll probably pick up the game later. it's gonna suck though because i quit my job in order to concentrate on school, but now i won't be able to buy games when they come out. at best the only thing i can do at this point is download PSP games.

Yeah I just got it and its great! I love the use of stylus and the cel shading is still nice.. They fit it well onto the DS. Defiently worth a look at.

I beat it this past Saturday. :P It does take a very slight jump up in difficulty towards the end, but it's not too bad.

Aw man I totally forgot about this game! Dam you Halo 3!!!
So EU release isn't until 19th? Ah that's good then, not too long to wait and it gives me time to get my moneys sorted out as well :)

Pretty good game. A lot of the DS' unique features were used well.
Just got my 2nd sea scroll.
Boomerang is pretty fun to use

Oh, if I wasn't so broke right now, I'd be tossing aside my homework right now and playing it obsessively.

I got it. There's lots of neat ways to use the DS's functions as a part of gameplay. If there are any gripes I have about it it's the controls for your boat. I mean, just picking a course and watching your boat go by itself doesn't seem all that fun. Plus when you wanna switch directions you have to stop, draw your next destination, THEN go.
Great graphics though, and it is really fun so far.

I have to agree with you, but I never did like the whole sailing feature in Wind Waker either.
The only complaint I have is that getting him to roll can be a *****, and sometimes he rolls when you don't want him to.

I just got this game the other day. The touch screen controls work great, and the graphics look good as well. I havn't gotten very far yet because I've been busy with school and work, but I'll probably start playing it for hours during the weekend.

Damn I want this game. I'll probably get my hands on it in four weeks or so. I've been waiting for a WindWaker sequel for a while.

damn it. i seriously need an R4.....i have access to a VERY good private torrent tracker where i can easily get pretty much any current console.
Any current console what? I know a really really good NDS Rom site with good DLL d/l speeds and best of all, no ads or anything of that sort.

Oh come now, Nintendo has had to work hard to get back into a position where their game systems really have a solid future. Support them buy actually buying the game.

this games looks fun i actually want to buy a DS just for this game as well as some other ones but especially this one
Ugh, I hate the fact that in order to get other sea charts you have to go through the previous part of the dungeon with only like 2 minutes extra. ;_;
Very annoying.

lol i was typing kind of fast since i was in class and i forgot to add the word "game". you name it man....ps3, 360, wii, portable systems, last-gen consoles.
well anyway, i actually picked up my last paycheck at work so i think i'll go pick up PH today.

PH is alright. I thought it would be better, though...
The whole stylus thing is cool but I would've preferred to use the pad to move and be able to use A to talk.
I think it's very clever how you can draw on the maps and draw the path of the boomerang. However, I dislike the rolling (trying to get Link to roll and him rolling when I don't want him to >.>) as well as the fact that if you go out of the temple, you have to start all over again -_- Repetition is annoying...
Edit: I hate trying to hit a switch quietly and end up making noise so the phantoms come after me, and visa versa.

If you hit the switches with the boomerang they tend not to make enough noise to attract the phantoms.

I can't believe I never thought of that... Guess I'm not quite used to the boomerang yet...
It took me ages to figure out how to blow up the rocks in front of the cannon dude's place. I was there for about 15 minutes trying to figure it out until I realised I could've jumped over the cliff so I was closer... I'm kind of slow with these things... :<
Aww... man, I don't have a DS. I love "The Legend of Zelda" series, and it's quite a bummer that I don't own this game and probably won't own it for some time.

I agree... getting him to roll SUCKS. And since the art style is so similar to minnish cap, I keep on trying to use the pad to make him move.
I've gotten *really* fast at the first three levels of the hourglass temple :P
I'm halfway through the temple of courage right now.

i've never accidentally rolled before. hasn't been too much of a bother for me.
i'm currently at the isle of gust. i like those nice little touches how Link is bracing himself from the wind by shielding his face and such. very clever.
but yeah overall i'm really enjoying the game. i am very happy supporting the developers by buying the game. well that plus i don't own an R4. but even if i did i'd still buy the game LOL.

It'll happen eventually : P. And it'll probably happen at the moment where it is least likely. It doesn't happen often, but it seems like there is a very specific way to get him to roll quickly and easily, unfortunatly it seems like it is easier to do it by accident than on purpose.

i'll admit there's actually one gripe i'm having with the game. while the ds lite's stylus is slightly longer that the one that came with the fat dS, my right hand still blocks my view of the touch screen especially when i direct the stylus pointer to the left side of the screen. i guys it's not big of a deal assuming i can find a longer suitable alternative.
I agree with movement with the D pad, its just more convenient and you dont accidently hit the menu/map button etc.
Hakuoro
10-16-2007, 01:32 PM
Yeah, D pad movement would have been nice. I'm ALWAYS hitting the wrong buttons, like A to attack, and D pad to move. Bringing up menu's in the middle of something important is NOT fun. u.u

Did I not shout loud enough?
That treasure grabber thing was really really pricey.

I didn't know this at the time, but if you talk to his assistant he mentions something about how it would have been smart just to snap your fingers near the mic. I guess that that sound is what was supposed to earn a discount. I've not played the game through a second time yet, though, so I don't know.

Now that I actually played the game it feels more like a toy, than a game. It wouldn't have hurt Nintendo to put a "control type B" allowing you to use it the good ol' fashioned way. They game was cleverly made, but I'm a gamer. I don't want to use a pen for a controller.
IMO
Minish Cap>Phantom Hourglass

I did enjoy the control scheme, but I agree that for some reason even though it was more "interactive" it still seemed to distance you from the game. I dunno what it is. It was fun, but there was no attachment. It's almost as if using the pen just for so many different things made everything a bit too simple.

shouting loud enough allows you to buy the treasure grabber for 200 (apologies for not remembering the name of the currency in the game).
on the other hand, i never heard about snapping method in-game from the assistant, and i'm pretty sure i talked to him before going in to talk with Eddo.

lol ain't that a *****.
it's actually a good thing i was home alone when i got to that part of the game (this morning actually). i was playing while on the crapper at the time, and it would have been embarassing if someone heard me shout while still on the toilet.

Seems like one of those games you would play in the 'crapper'.
