my problem is this:
http://img207.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1nfjfru3.jpg

as you can see, i can't click anything but Shape Dynamics and Other Dynamics on Brushes (for smudging)... and i need to change some settings in Scattering (i'm doing a tut) but i can't..

i tried lots of things, from reseting the tools, restarting PS, to even reinstalling PS (it takes cca 5 min. cause i have version 7 CE, so i gave it a shot, lol)...
...and it was still the same :rolleye09

any ideas on what to do next (besides getting a new PS version :p)?
thanks

EDIT: and yes, i know, the title should be"Photoshop gone mad?".. :rolleye09

Yea, I figured, after I posted that I tested it out, and it worked for me.

SO Locked bkgrd is not the problem.

Well, I don't know what's wrong.

If you need Photoshop CS3, PM me.

What bit are you using it in? 8, 16, the other one?

Oh OK, I was about to say if you had it on 16 or higher Ps locks some options out, but it tends to only be filters, sorry dude, but it could be a program bug or something...

there's nothing wrong with it, that's all the smudge settings you get with ps7. if you want scatter you need a newer version.

i had PS 7 version before, and it worked prefectly... couple of days ago i had to reinstall my Windows, and PS..

since then - problems....

photoshop 7 doesn't have scatter smudging. go ask anyone with ps7 or post this in the adobe forums if you don't believe me. :/

I'm trying to help you and you're not listening, so this is the last post I make in this thread.

photoshop 7 doesn't have scatter smudging.
I'm not stupid, I wouldn't say it if I wasn't sure of it.
instead of just arguing about it you could go ask anyone with ps7 or post this in the adobe forums if you don't believe me.
because it's obviously not going to fix itself, especially since there's nothing to fix with your current photoshop version. :/

I've used Ps7 and trust me, it doesn't allow you to scatter.

= misunderstanding... this is all because i'm a n00b... http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z15/geb_bucket/485c3a61.gif

first i would like to apologize to you Tanya... up until now, i thought that PS 7 and PS 7 CE are 2 different things, that CE is a better version, that has all the settings that are "clickable", but, obviously they are the same http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z15/geb_bucket/onion-head11.gif

I asked my friend, who gave me that PS version to tell if she can click the settings for Smudge - and she can't
i cannot explain how i could click them before, but i'm sure i could... i rember doing a tut from Nichigo, that smudging one, and he had special instructions just for smudge settings.. that was when i submitted a thread here about brushes.. i destinctivly remember that i could manipulate the settings like the tutorial asked, i really do not know how i can't do so now (??)

the only thing that now comes to my mind is that i had CS3 installed before PS 7 CE, and that it didn't work right because my computer didn't have the right specs, so i installed version 7 afterwerds.. maybe, somehow, sth. wasn't properly uninstalled from CS3 so i could do more with my version..
i now it sounds stupid, but in the last 2 days i reinstalled PS 7 CE twice - and after the second instalation, even though i uninstalled PS, when it was time to type in the serial, the serial number was already typed in.. the same one from before... (??) even though, at that point, there was no PS anything on the computer (??)

ah... i'm ranting now... i'm tired..
i apologize once again for the whole fuzz ^^
