The image becomes too ambiguous when the legs overlap. When the toes re-emerge from behind the other leg, it can give the impression that it is spinning a different way. It is largely dependent on the moment you first look at it. If you look carefully, the direction of woman's toes point in a different direction each time the legs cross.

When the woman's legs overlap, try blinking in that instant. By the time you open your eyes, you may see the woman as spinning the other way.

actually some people use alternate different sides of the brain, thus you can see one way, then the other randomly after you blink

i saw mostly clockwise though, then opposite a few times after that

^i repeat, because you switch what side of the brain you use, you don't just use one side of the brain all the time

also girls use both sides of the brain more statistically
