don't get me wrong. i'm not trying to bash the console itself. everyone has a right to enjoy whatever the hell they want to enjoy. but check out this article of someone's trials and tribulations dealing with customer service via 1-800-4MY-XBOX.

i can't help but feel bad for the guy. not to mention the fact that his problems are STILL unresolved.........the article itself is pretty long so i didn't want to copy/paste it.
pretty much every console i've ever owned have never died, so i can't imagine what the guy is going through also.

Uh-oh, red ring of fire = your f***ed...
Hmm, I have never used the American MS customer service line, I have only used the British one and it's fairly OK for me.
The only console that has ever died on me was my Gamecube, but that comes back to life :lol
Seems like an awful amount of trouble to go through for a console.

exactly what i was thinking. that guy definitely went above and beyond what any normal person would spend dealing with a console-related problem. and to think that he still favors MS.
Welcome to the world of painful DRM

This is sad, pathetic even. Not the man, but the lack of customer service on the part of Microsoft. To treat someone, a paying customer like that, is horrid. I can understand why he went through so much(seriously, you spend that much on a console you want it to WORK). Microsoft is turning a blind eye to the problem it seems and dismissing customers that run into this(this isn't the first time I've heard horror stories about the 360 and Microsoft customer support). If they want to stay in the gaming business or any type of business they better shape up or people are going to drop them.

My 360 pooed itself, and just in time for MS to announce the warranty extension! (WHEW!!) Anyway - the people on the phone were a little annoying, but the phone call was only 20 min, and i got my replacement in about 1-2 weeks. I hate the DRM thing because I can't play the arcade LIVE games unless im logged in - and you can't log in unless you're connected to the internet! All and all it was ok and i didn't have to blow another $400. but dude... they need to build more stable consoles! A good warranty policy can't just make everything better

For the most part i'd like to consider this guy's situation an exceptional case. MS's 360 customer service for the most part does not suck beyond all reason. If you read this guy's article carefully, he's a freakin gaming beast >.>.. he obviously pushed his box(s) beyond its limits and freaking purchased off of XBL like a monster @.@". For his first box you can notice that XBL refunded him all his points and even sent him a new box. They attempted the same for his third box but obviously nobody is perfect (especially MS). Since he repeatedly had problems i think its reasonable for anybody to get tired of the constant calls....though that's no excuse for the "blowing off" part. Moreover, i agree that they shouldn't have failed to return his calls like they said they would.
HOWEVER!!! I'm sure if you ask (mostly) anybody who witnessed the red ring of death (me inlcuded) they will tell you that when they called customer service that linked alway to India :p, even though it was hard to understand the guy, if the complaint was legit, the customer service sent them a pre-paid return box to send the broken xbox in and then sent it back fixed or a new one in its stead. That seems fair to me and i think that other than turning this into a freaking MS bashing spree (like it always go), let's acknowledge they're normal people just like the rest of us who are just trying to do their job =/.
They've done me good so i'm not going to complain. Especially since i'm just a normal gamer like the most of us...unlike this other dude. Though my heart does go out for him =(.

well that's the thing because you pretty much reinforced his point (about him being a gaming beast :p). as per the article, he states that he's dedicated A LOT of his disposable income to his 360. anyone who spends more than $1500 strictly on gaming should be given the chance to be assisted by customer service in a professional way in case something bad happens to the console.
as i mentioned in my first post, i'm just surprised that he's still dedicated to MS in spite of the frustrating situation he's been put up with.

My damn 360 broke! The Disk Tray just popped out when I was playing Gears. After all the games I bought for that piece of crap the fucking Disk Tray pops out!!! These idiots rushed their console out too early. This happened with my first PS2 as well.
Bottom Line: Only trust Nintendo for stable consoles, I've never had one of their systems break on me. Nintendo's systems go through hell and still work. Sony and MS aren't 100% gaming companies anyway, they don't got a fucking clue how to make a console.
I'm wondering if MS fixes Disk Trays?
lol, I had a broken Game Cube, SNES, GBC, and I had to get my N64 replaced. :/
Bottom Line: Don't trust any hardware manufactor.

A gamcube was split in HALF and still was working. It must be you, I remember someone saying along the name of "Draffut" saying his Gameboy Color was in the rain for a day and still working. My SNES still works to this day.
