:O

What a month it has been in CB world!

The Bleach Project as well as the VEQ (Vaizards-Espadas-Quincies) were >thisclose< to extinction, fanclub groups and their userbars were removed from the memberships section (much to their members' dismay), shinigami academy demolished, and VBux was planned to be knocked down to begin anew.

Those in their respective divisions and members with monies were thrown into a state of panic and confusion (many of us decided to make good use of our monies and robbed the plaza off of their items =.=; ).

This event was caused by an unpredictable announcement planned in hopes of regaining exclusivity to the Gotei 13 and attracting active regular members towards it.

Despite threats to divisions have now been lowered, it has not eased the tension between members and higher authorities.

In a way, things seem to look quite optimistic from Gotei 13's perspective as it is an opportunity to restore their pride and privileges.

It is a long road with many obstacles (including real-life x3). Only time can show us the consequences of these measures.

Moving on, I hope you have had a happy happy Halloween, dressed up in those smexy costumes, got loads of treats and freaked some people out of their skins :D

The newsletter staff have compiled some Halloween related articles along with yummy evil treats and a step by step guide on how to make a lantern. Yes, we know the occasion is over but you don't need an event make those delicious little treats.

Hope you enjoy reading them :)

Have a good read and wish you a Happy Belated Halloween ^^

History of Halloween

Halloween, also known as Hallowe’en (or All Hallows Eve), is a holiday celebrated on October 31 in many Christian countries such as United States, Great Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and many Latin American countries where it’s known as Noche de Brujas (Night of the Witches)

Halloween originated in Ireland as Samhain, an ancient Gaelic festival. The Festival of Samhain was celebrated at the end of the harvest season in Gaelic culture. It was at this time when ancient pagans would stock supplies for winter.

The ancient Gaels believed that on October 31 the boundaries between the worlds of the living and the dead were not so strong and that the dead would come back to life, causing havoc such as sickness and damaged crops.

People would wear masks and costumes were worn at the festival to try mimic them to get rid of the demons. Another feature the festival involved were bonfires, where the bones of slaughtered stock were thrown into.

When the Romans occupied Celtic territory, they incorporated many Roman traditions into Samhain, namely bobbing apples during Halloween. This speculated origin was the symbol of Roman Godess of fruit, Pomona, whose symbol was the apple. Pomona was celebrated on Feralia, a day celebrated for the passing of the dead (celebrated in late October).

In 835, Pope Gregory IV changed the date of All Saint’s Day (a.k.a. All Hallows Day) to November 1 from April 20 (the day the Celts celebrated it) and May 13 (the day the rest of the Christian world celebrated it) This was done because the holiday coincided with Samhain as it also began at sunset. Some groups were okay with the changed date while other groups weren’t, and continued to celebrate Samhain.

While Scotland shared Gaelic culture and language with Ireland and celebrated the holiday for many centuries, All Saints’ Day did not become part of England and Wales' until 835. All Souls’ Day, circa 998, is celebrated on November 2.

The English Reformation (which occurred in the 16th century), however, de-emphasized holidays like All Hallows Day and their respective eves along with the rise of Guy Fawkes' Night celebrations in the 17th Century. During this time, many Halloween practices, like bonfires, were moved to November 5.

As time went by Halloween lost its popularity, but thanks to American influence in the 1980s it became popular once again. This re-introduced many Halloween traditions into British culture.

Halloween did not exist in America until the 19th century, where two million Irish migrated to the country following the Irish Potato Famine in 1845-1849.
Scottish migration from the British Isles brought their own version of the holiday, first to Canada in the 1860’s and then to the United States thereafter. Another reason that Halloween was not around in America was due to the lingering Puritan tradition restricting the observance of many holidays.

Commercialization of Halloween in the United States commenced in the 20th century, beginning with designs of postcards that became popular in 1905 and 1915.

There were two companies that became pioneers in Halloween products: the Dennison Manufacturing Company, which published its first Halloween catalogue in 1905, and the Beistle Company, which specialized in Halloween decorations, especially dye-cut paper items.

The first mass-produced costumes did not appear until the 1930’s, while the all-popular trick-or-treating became an important aspect of the holiday in 1950.

In Mexico Halloween has been celebrated for the last 40 years, where celebrations have been heavily influenced by American traditions.

Halloween goes on as three consecutive days, also consisting All Saints’ Day, which marks the beginning of the 2-day celebration of the Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).

'The Blood' a somewhat mysterious group of people that one day just appeared on the face of CB looking for the most active and most influential members to join their cause. Some are unsure on what they are seeking and what they hope to find in CB... Is it power? The forefront of a revolution? The leader’s objectives are unknown to even some of the members of The Blood. One factor of The Blood stands out as the defining difference between some of the other fan clubs, in order to enter The Blood you must be judged by the leader and its members and this acts as a filter for who will join and who will be tossed aside.

The Blood prides itself in the quality of its members that extends far and wide… Some have even infiltrated the newsletter… *cough* this allows for a vast range in conversation points and opinions that may even affect the state of the forum at times.

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b357/icestorm32/Untitled-28-1.png

The Blood also has another feature that sets it apart, within The Blood lies a ranking system that gives the members motivation to obtain higher standing and become a more prominent member of the forum, the ones with the highest ranks are often members that have shown their worth through contributing to the ‘bigger picture’ or are generally well renown to be helpful and popular.

The following are some of the interviews with the few members of The Blood.

The Blood has set the standard for a new trend of higher echelon organizations being formed all around Club Bleach. The purpose of the blood is simple, yet limitless in its possibilities. It’s beauty resides in the fact that it unites the most sophisticated and respected members from all corners of Club Bleach in a mini-community where forum affairs and problems can be discussed without limitation.

The Blood is truly a magnificent frontier for social interaction, as it shows the will of the community to get together without worrying about boundaries such as division, and emphasizes intelligent collaboration and discussion.

The Blood is a gathering of respected Club Bleach members, at least in my opinion. It lets members who have never actually communicated before get to know each other, Obbywan and I are are a great example of that. I never would've talked to him without both of us being in The Blood.

Based on these interviews it becomes obvious why The Blood has become so popular, its strong sense of trust and friendship within this group has lead to it being widely loved by the members that have entered it. Not only that but its filtering of the members means that the people entering it are thoroughly checked before coming in, promoting a welcome change from some of the more chaotic parts of the forum and creates strong bonds between members that may not have met before, but have much in common.

From Left to Right
Murdoc Niccals, 2D, Noodle, Russel Hobbes

Ever heard of a band that consists of two Englishmen, one Japanese girl and a formerly 'demon-possessed' guy from New York? A band that plays live gigs but aren't really there?

Well, you probably have, because creating tracks like Feel Good Inc., Clint Eastwood and El Manana have made the Gorillaz officially the world's most successful virtual band.

So who are the Goriilaz? They are a virtual band, spawned from the imagination of lead-singer, Damon Albarn (from the band, Blur) and comic-writer, Jamie Jewlett.

The term 'virtual band' defines a band portrayed by fictional cartoon characters as their music is played by real people.

As a front, the Gorillaz officially consist of four main band members: Stuart Pot (better known as 2D) on lead-vocals, keyboardist, Murdoc Niccals on bass guitar, Russel Hobbs the drummer, and guitarist Noodle.

Since their creation in 1998, the Gorillaz have released two albums and several singles. Demon Days is their latest album to be released while El Manana being their latest single.

To finish it off...

Who'd enjoy this band?
The Gorillaz' range of music styles is quite wide but is mainly considered alternative rock. They also take the form of other genres such as hip hop. Therefore, people will have to listen to their award-winning music before judging whether they like it.

Branching into other media...
The Gorillaz have been featured in an animated series called Gorillaz Bites, featuring some short and entertaining snippets of the Gorillaz's lives and personalities.

They have also released an autobiography called Rise of the Ogres, featuring many unknown interesting facts and events related to the band.

A movie has also been suggested and is most likely to be created some time in the future.

It's a well known fact that violent video games have been involved in numerous horrific crimes that often resulted in worst case scenario - victims and a lot of claims that video games are the cause of this and that the gaming industry money is a blood money. But who is to blame? The games, people who make them? People who play them? Is there anyone to blame at all or are we just acting paranoid?

Why video games?

We live in a very violent society, which is perfectly clear to everyone. Especially to most of us who still go to school, things like security guards, metal detectors, weapons, attacks on other students as well as other teachers ... Even more, somewhere a massacres have happened that were even ore horrific than Hollywood horror films. Those who commit crimes over violent games are usually people of our own age - students who seem like perfectly nice people on the outside.

In the news there are several reports how random schooler sits himself in university and shots innocent people with a sniper rifle, how students come at schools armed like Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator! Soon there is gonna be new subject at schools where we are gonna have to be taught how to use magnum for self defense! Why are video games to be blamed for such things?

After certain crimes have happened that supposedly had video games as cause, certain researches have been made that have confirmed this. Bank robbery planned exactly like the one that we could preform ourselves in Grand Theft Auto, school massacre for which script was made in Doom Level Editor, people killing themselves because they wanted to join the fallen heroes in World of Warcraft.
In all those cases, people what blamed the games in question and some even went so far to sue the companies that made them.

Video games differ from other violent fiction such as movies and comics. What makes them violent is the gore and extremely well portrayed (and often exaggerated) scenes where violence occurs.
Basically one could easily claim that movies are as guilty in that area as games, but there is one critical difference among the two; in movies we can only see the violence, but games give us another personality under our control and we can do whatever we please with it, allowing to release all our frustrations with few mouse clicks. In other words, our own virtual self who has the ability to murder, torture and molest whoever he wants without getting punished or killed. Even worse, the feeling of doing such things usually brings out satisfaction. What makes people cross the line between the fiction and reality?

Sadly, no detailed studies have been made on this yet. It's not even certain that games ARE the ones to blame. But the cases who have been studied show that those who committed any sort of violence because video games have had serious mental and often even social problems. A lot were neglected by parents, unloved, molested and beaten without anyone to help them through hard times, so they found themselves their own new virtual world which they can save or destroy.
When things in real life started to get unbearable, they snapped. 12 year old child hung himself 1 year ago because parents forbid him playing his Playstation. Without virtual life, some people can't live. And sometimes, they cross the boarder.

But is that the reason to blame games? Indeed people get inspiration and plans for their crimes based on those, but are they the CAUSE? Or is the cause personal dissatisfaction, the fact that we all run away from our problems and try to solve them in virtual world and please our own basic needs.
Games, no matter how violent they are are merely a mirror of todays mindless society. Behind all meaningless violence, they give away a message - "This is YOU you are looking at right now. Is this what you want to become? "

In the movie Basketballs Diary main character rampages and kills everyone in his school because he is a drug addict.
That is the WARNING of what drugs can do and not an invitation to go and kill everyone. Games are also a form of addiction and often bear the same message.

But they are also useful - a lot of games are used in scientifiy treatments. With the engine of half Life, many who have suffered from claustrophobia have been cured.

Of course, game makes are gonna feed off our own stupidity. Nobody forces you to go to store and pick the most violent game and play it. So by all means is game itself NOT to blame for this. Or is it because they are basically available to everyone?

The numbers

An interesting fact is that almost 40% of all people who play video games are over 36 years old. In USA, over 40% of all homes have at least 1 gaming console which means at least 46 million consoles. Between September and December last year there was 68% of all males between age 18 and 34 who had access to games and incredible 80% of all kids between age 12 and 17! Over 100 million people were playing games in USA last year, without counting those on personal computers.
Despite ratings given to the games, if one tries really hard, you can get any game you want. Either off the internet or in the stores. Nobody cares about ratings once the game is in shop as long as it's sold. Are those things happening because it's so easy to get to violent games? It's up to each individual to see if games are really the cause of the violence, but here are some of the most famous incidents that had involved video games:

The Tragedies

West Paducah
On 1st December 1997 14 year old student Michael Carneal from High School Heath in West Paducah shot 3 of his classmates at the morning pray and wounded 5 others. He liked to play Doom, MechWarrior, Quake and Redneck Rampage.

Columbine
Students Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold killed 12 classmates and a teacher on 20th April 1999 with automatic machine gun. After than they judged themselves. They were most delighted over game Doom.

Erfurt
On 26th April 2002 a student Robert Steinhauser who was kicked out of school due to inappropriate behavior started shooting randomly in his high school in Germany. he killed 13 teachers, 2 students, a police officer and in the end - himself. it was said he was addicted to Counter Strike.

Fayette
when police officers in Fayette in Alabama brought 18 year old Devin Moor to police station because he stole a car, he murdered two officers and escaped. when he was caught he said, "Life is a video game. You have to die once." He was mentally ill, he played games a lot. What he did is remarkably close to Grand Theft Auto.

Red Lake
On March 21st 2005 in red Lake Minnesota a student Jeffrey Weise shot 7 people, including security guard and a teacher, but before that he shot his grandfather and his wife at home. When police surrounded him he committed suicide. It was rumored he played video games a lot, but unknown which ones and how passionate he was about them.

Dawson
25 year old Kimveer Gill killed 1 people and wounded 19 others on 13th September 2006. He killed himself in the end. He was a passionate gamer whose favorite games were Doom 3, Grand Theft Auto, F.E.A.R., Soldier of Fortune ... He used them to distance himself from real world because of all the bad things that happened to him there.

The Games
Let's check the games on the chopping list shall we?

Certainty one of the most scandalous games right now is Manhunt. John Earl Cash, main character is kidnapped and forced to kill brutally for other people's entertainment. The scenes of deaths are absolutely brutal - brains splattered over the wall, chopping out ribs and necks with machete, ripping off heard with a wire and cutting necks with glass are just one of few things our character can preform. Not to mention all sexual violence.

It was immediately rated M and even forbidden in some states.

http://www.enregistrersous.com/images/84032093220070627231725.jpg
The game sequel is already forbidden to EVERYONE in UK.

Probably the most popular game of all times, Grand Theft Auto allows nearly unlimited freedom and violence without any severe punishments. Running over people with cars, beating him with a very impressive private armory. Animations upon exploding, burning, shooting are most exaggerated, accompanied by pools of blood. In worst case scenario, over a blank screen all your weapons are taken away and you are free to rampage again.

Another game that is a very funny parody on society is Postal.
Originally first person shooter, everything from pissing to puking on people goes, including smashing heads with a shovel, stealing and even using live animals as gun suppressor. The story talks about a husband and wife who don't seem to get along well - in a very funny way.

http://www.gamecritics.com/review/postal2/screen01.jpg

Still the best game of all times by all old school players - Doom.
The amount of horror and scenes that make your blood run cold is big enough to have a feeling that you are being chased and ripped off by demons for many nights to come. The amount of screams, silent shadows that slowly devour you and enemies that come straight from hell make this game considered one of the most violent games of all times.

Another game that got praised for very realistic display of injuries is Soldier of Fortune. The game itself is just first person shooter, but the injury model includes everything to holes in head, torn libs, internal organs and massive amounts of blood. With a fast tempo, the game is quite messy and chaotic.

http://www.gamesonly.at/uploads/soldier-of-fortune-2.jpg

You can view more violent games at this (http://weblogs.variety.com/eeg_news/2004/11/top_10_most_vio.html) link.

To Conclude...

Until accurate studies are made, there is no way of telling if the games are actually those causing the violence, or merely means of expressing for mentally unstable people who can't tell the difference between reality and fiction anymore. However, one thing is clear - those who make this kind of games are not going to stop making them until the money keeps coming from people who play them. And people are willing to pay a lot to heal their complexes and troubles. Are you one of those?

Still, there is some connection between the games and the violence and it's up to each and everyone to take this as a warning.

There is nothing wrong with playing violent games as long as you leave that violence when you turn off the screen and start living real life with real joys and problems. If any of you feels uneasy and has a desire to cause destruction outside the fantasy world, get help. Remember, games are fun! So have fun and happy playing! :)

JOIN THE DEBATE!
There is a huge discussion whether games cause violence or not that inspired me to write this article - share your opinion on the subject in this topic! (http://forums.bleachportal.net/showthread.php?t=10726)

Ranma ½ is a story situated around a 16-year-old boy named Ranma. He has been taught martial arts since birth, and is engaged to a girl in Japan. Simple enough right? Wrong! Ranma’s life is anything but simple.
When Ranma and his father fell into some cursed springs during a training mission, he took the form of a young girl, while his father took the form of a panda. Now whenever they are splashed with cold water, they change into these forms, but hot water reverses the effect!

Ranma and his father go to Japan, where he is engaged to the youngest of a martial arts family, Akane Tendo. Akane however, hates boys! How is Ranma meant to keep his secret from Akane while finding a way to break his curse? Throughout this crazy tale of love and he-shes, several lovable and memorable characters enter the fray. Surprisingly enough, most of them have a bone to pick with Ranma or Akane.

http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o58/Pyramus_bucket/ranaka2.jpg

Characters

Ranma Saotome – The main character, he is cursed to change into a girl whenever splashed with cold water. Ranma also has a fear of cats!

Genma Saotome – Ranma’s father, he is cursed to be a panda whenever he is splashed by cold water.

Akane Tendo – Betrothed to Ranma, Akane hates boys! She is the heir to her family’s martial arts school.

Ryoga Hibiki – A childhood rival of Ranma, this guy has no sense of direction, and therefore can never find Ranma, who he has sworn to fight. He too is cursed to change into a little piglet.

Shampoo - Ranma once defeated her in a martial arts contest, and according to Amazon law, she must marry him! She is also cursed (There seems to be a theme running in this manga) in which she will turn into a cat.

Ranma ½ was created by Rumiko Takahashi and was first serialised in Shonen Jump magazine in 1987, where it immediately became a cult classic. It ended its serialisation in 1996, and was then collected together into 36 volumes. It has since been translated into English and has even spawned a hit anime TV series!

To end, Ranma ½ is for anyone with a soft spot for romantic comedy and martial arts!

Miyagi Rikku says:

† Ev † says:

† Ev † says:
I wonder if I should whine >_>

Miyagi Rikku says:
go ahead. :3

† Ev † says:
busybusybusy *ends whining*

† Ev † says:
x3

† Ev † says:
You know? It's weird being interviewef

† Ev † says:
*ed

† Ev † says:
damn

† Ev † says:
a typo

† Ev † says:
aaargh!

† Ev † says:
>:

Miyagi Rikku says:
XD

† Ev † says:
/slaps it

Miyagi Rikku says:
lol we always have it but we can always alter them MWHAHHAHHSAHEAHEHAEHAH

Miyagi Rikku says:
XD

Miyagi Rikku says:
mwihhihi peep

Miyagi Rikku says:
so wow! you are the new editor of CBNL. How does it feel?

† Ev † says:
Kinda weird...I still feel like the newb..in the NL and the entire forum...ed-lord wise, I don't think I can ever live up to Sarah and Shaz's awesomeness

† Ev † says:
*eats chichi*

† Ev † says:
xD

Miyagi Rikku says:
*ish eaten* Oh don't worry. I am sure you will be great as them or even surpass them. :3 its all in due time. :3

Miyagi Rikku says:
and wow you are also a VC now too of the 9th XD

Miyagi Rikku says:
woot! evvie is on a roll.

† Ev † says:
xD

† Ev † says:
I guess xD *still feels like a newb*

Miyagi Rikku says:
oh don't feel newb. XD come on. So, let's also start off by telling us a little about yourself. :3

† Ev † says:
Ooh that's a hard one >_<

Miyagi Rikku says:
like maybe name? fave food? XD

† Ev † says:
Okies x3
My name i Farhana, I'm 19, I'll be 20 this Jan, yush I'm Capricorn and I love FRIES!!!!

† Ev † says:
xD

† Ev † says:
I suck at being interviewed...

Miyagi Rikku says:
its ok, it must be the lame interviewer. XD lawlz

† Ev † says:
Oh yush > about me > I have a tendency to underestimate myself at times

† Ev † says:
xD

† Ev † says:
oh noez..

† Ev † says:
chichi ish an awesome interviewer :0

† Ev † says:
*hug-hug-hug-eats*

† Ev † says:
:3

Miyagi Rikku says:
oh its ok :3 I bet everyone underestimates ourselves once in a while.

Miyagi Rikku says:
No !!! I got eaten again. XD

† Ev † says:
Evvie: 2, Chichi: 0

Miyagi Rikku says:
So, how about we talk about guys? Oh I mean... more about your plans inside NL and 9th division. :3

† Ev † says:
>_>

Miyagi Rikku says:
D:

† Ev † says:
which one first? >:

† Ev † says:
xD

† Ev † says:
Well about the NL..

† Ev † says:
Internally, I want it to be a place where people are happy to contribute, instead of being whipped to do something (kinky but meh xD)

† Ev † says:
I try to avoid that higher-lower status between the eds and the members, I want everyone to be equal..If I had the time, I'd love to write an article about something

† Ev † says:
myself

† Ev † says:
xD

† Ev † says:
damn that was supposed to be on the same line D: < edit

† Ev † says:
xD

Miyagi Rikku says:
Sounds like a good plan for the NL. \o/ :3

† Ev † says:
Externally, readership-wise, I want the NL to be a light-read, something that cb members can go through, maybe chuckle and move on. For those who take these things wayyy too seriously, remember, it's only the
internet =.=

Miyagi Rikku says:
xD ehehe oh noes. x3 How about the 9th. With Shaz inactive right now and you being the acting captain. Everything ok? :3

† Ev † says:
Well...I don't think I should disclose the deeper things but things are going pretty good..though I can't wait for shaz to come back and kick me around :0

† Ev † says:
xD

Miyagi Rikku says:
lol, no need to tell me everything. :3 So don't worry. XD Well, I am sure Shaz won't kick you around. XD not unless you want to. D:

† Ev † says:
I do..she keeps me in check xD

† Ev † says:
I love her loads

† Ev † says:
<3

Miyagi Rikku says:
=3 speaking of loving someone loads. Who is your best friend in CB? :D

† Ev † says:
Oh gosh..that's a really tough question Dx

† Ev † says:
Mmmm...mmmm...can I pick three?

† Ev † says:
xD

Miyagi Rikku says:
sure go ahead. XD

† Ev † says:
ok I think I need more slots here

† Ev † says:
>_>

† Ev † says:
xD

† Ev † says:
Can I just name them all? xD

Miyagi Rikku says:
lol XD oh gosh how many do you have XD okei name all of em \o/

† Ev † says:
RL and CB, all-time and forever, best frnd: *Ririn*
CB guy: Dino aka Deto
CB girls: You and Shaz (mirage)
And everybody else x3

† Ev † says:

Miyagi Rikku says:

† Ev † says:
*hug*

Miyagi Rikku says:
x3 <3

Miyagi Rikku says:
so who do you idolize the most inside CB forums? :D

† Ev † says:
Mmmmm...idolise...No one actually..everyone's pretty much normal people (though some stranger than the other =P) to me and I don't really have that uber fascination with people on CB or RL in general....
Am I weird? x_x

Miyagi Rikku says:
oh nah. :3 Don't worry it is perfectly normal not to Idolize someone. :D maybe Evvie idolizes her mommy! *eats evvies momy*

† Ev † says:
Psst: Not really..well in a way, I'm amazed with Lucy aka *Ririn*. She's just plain awesomeness. And then there's my bf, Anubisrage aka Jamol (also my best friend) who's an amazing person. They're both my everything. I love them to death <3

† Ev † says:
To me, they are two people in the world, that once you meet them, you can't live without them

Miyagi Rikku says:
=3 true true....like the same with me... oops DX lol

Miyagi Rikku says:
well is everything good in rl right now? :3 No problems? \o/

† Ev † says:
Nope, other than the adults at work acting like kids *sigh* Noshing so far =D

† Ev † says:
*pokes chichi*
>_>

† Ev † says:
*eats*

† Ev † says:
:3

Miyagi Rikku says:
eak speaking of eating. XD im hungry. whats your fave food? :O

† Ev † says:
Mmmmm...my all-time fav is fries. Fries, fries, fries, I love fries, I can eat them at any time of the day, and not get sick of it. My friends say they know something's really wrong when I don't want fries xD
=.=

† Ev † says:
Oh and I like pepperoni pizza, sausages, fried chicken, loads of fatty stuff..I'm surprised I haven't ballooned up Dx

† Ev † says:
I love junk food and I'm a very very picky eater.

Miyagi Rikku says:
C_C wow so many greasy food right there

Miyagi Rikku says:
XD

† Ev † says:
Yesh xD

† Ev † says:
I eat more for taste than health or proper diet >_>
which I'm sure is going to bite me in the ass when I'm 40

† Ev † says:
xD

Miyagi Rikku says:
nomnom junk foods are the best

Miyagi Rikku says:

† Ev † says:

Miyagi Rikku says:

† Ev † says:

Miyagi Rikku says:

† Ev † says:

† Ev † says:

† Ev † says:

† Ev † says:
(and my mom's calling me for dinner Dx)

† Ev † says:
I'm sick of rice x_x

Miyagi Rikku says:

† Ev † says:

† Ev † says:

<[rei]> are u hiding out on the gfx section cuz i never see u
<Tofu-Chan> I just lurk cb
<Tofu-Chan> dont do anything specific on there
<Tofu-Chan> been catching up on my animu
<Tofu-Chan> :3
<[rei]> ohhhh
<[rei]> hmkay
<[rei]> are u gonna be here tommorow
<[rei]> tomorrow
<Tofu-Chan> most likely no
<[rei]> do u have time today?
<[rei]> for me
<Tofu-Chan> yeah?
<Tofu-Chan> anything you need, or just wanna chat? ^^
<[rei]> business first i'd like to do an interview for the cbnl
<Tofu-Chan> oh
<Tofu-Chan> interesting
<Tofu-Chan> any specific reasonf or the interview?
<Tofu-Chan> =)
<Tofu-Chan> *reason
<[rei]> lolz no hidden motive
<Tofu-Chan> okk
<Tofu-Chan> just tell me when you want to start the interview
<[rei]> like nao
<Tofu-Chan> ok
<Tofu-Chan> o.o
<[rei]> tell me something about you
* [rei] ish sleepy
<Tofu-Chan> Hmm, well I've got to say, I'm just an everyday teen. I like graphics and writing in my spare time. I enjoy watching anime and I'm a television nerd.
<[rei]> o.O i thought u were 10 years old
<Tofu-Chan> 10?
<Tofu-Chan> Jeez, thats the lowest age anyone has ever pinned on me ;_;
<[rei]> errr how old are u then?
<Tofu-Chan> I'm 13, going on 14 on Jan.08
<Tofu-Chan> xD
<[rei]> ok
<[rei]> what section of the cb are/were u most active?
<Tofu-Chan> I was most active in the randomness section (I have got to bet I posted atleast 500 posts every day in the old days)
<[rei]> omfg i'm really sleepy
<Tofu-Chan> After that my activity got focused more on the graphics section.
* Tofu-Chan huggles rei
<Tofu-Chan> poor you :<
<[rei]> i'm awake for
<[rei]> i have been awake for liek 10 hours
<Tofu-Chan> wow
<[rei]> but if ur not gonna be on tom i'll finish this today
<Tofu-Chan> not rally that long
<Tofu-Chan> XD
<Tofu-Chan> *really
<[rei]> what do u mean?
<Tofu-Chan> 10 hours is nothing for me
<Tofu-Chan> My average weekend consists of waking up ar 7 and sleeping at 2
<[rei]> well i'm older than u
<[rei]> slower metabolism
<[rei]> anyways lets finish this
<Tofu-Chan> Or just laziness
<Tofu-Chan> :3
<[rei]> **** you!
<Tofu-Chan> >:<
* Tofu-Chan slaps rei
* [rei] steals tofu's body
* Tofu-Chan walks away with her basket full of babies
<[rei]> moving on
<Tofu-Chan> noooo
<Tofu-Chan> ok
<Tofu-Chan> continue
<[rei]> shit i lost my chain of thought
<[rei]> anything special happened in the graphics section
<Tofu-Chan> Well, I imagine by "special" you mean around me, or in general?
<[rei]> ofc around u silly banana! this interview is about you
<Tofu-Chan> ow, jeez. =( Well, many a thing happened to me there. Being one of the original professional ranked members of the graphics section, being one of the first Graphics Crew, being given the gfx mod position TWICE (lost it twice too ;_;!) but perhaps the most interesting thing was winning the graphics tournament (can't remember which) xD
<Tofu-Chan> Quite a history, if I were to say so myself. :3
<[rei]> yeah it is
<[rei]> do u think you have more enemies than friends? or more friends than enemies
<[rei]> ......
<Tofu-Chan> I used to be very paranoid and pesimistic (that explained my lack of maturity early on in the cb forums and irc), so at first I sense I had many a enemy, and not many friends, but to be honest, now if I had enemies, I wouldnt know who they were. Call it ignorance, maturity, or change in attitude, I just seem to be making more friends with old enemies (Shinomori and ninja from irc are being so kind to me and becoming my friends, whil
* Tofu-Chan likes writing long answers, so be patient, Ms.Fattass. :<
<[rei]> i can tell ;_;
<[rei]> continue
* Tofu-Chan is done with the last answer)
<[rei]> whil?
<[rei]> that it?
<Tofu-Chan> yes
<[rei]> fine
<Tofu-Chan> any mroe questions?
<[rei]> what's the craziest thing you have ever done (it can be in rl too)
<Tofu-Chan> Ran for student council vice-president, with my best friend under the names of "Mr. and Ms. Turd Ferguson" in real-life
<Tofu-Chan> it was full of win, although the details may be too awkward to really describe in an interview. xD
<[rei]> lolololz
<[rei]> finally i'll name 5 people
<[rei]> and give me your message to them
<[rei]> first: seto
<Tofu-Chan> Seto: wow, I sure do miss our chats, and if there was ever such thing as "e-family", even if we were never the dumb kind to say we were "e-family" directly, the moments we had as friends, the bright hilarioustimes and the dark ones make our relationship as friends so amazing. I really wish I could speak to you again, and just got to say, I miss you <3 *hugs*
<[rei]> second: jeeez idk anymore gfx ppl
<[rei]> uhhhmmm
<[rei]> ai:
<Tofu-Chan> Ai: Don't know you well much, but it was fun having you in irc. =) Goodbye on cb and hope life goes well for you. ^^
<[rei]> next: neve
<Tofu-Chan> Neve: Your a feather. :)
<[rei]> next: chanster
* [rei] is half expecting a novel
<Tofu-Chan> Chanster: Congrats on becoming the leader of OV. xD
* Tofu-Chan bets you werent expecting that
<[rei]> >.> are u fapping while we're doing the interview?
<[rei]> nvm i dun wanna know
<[rei]> okies last....
<[rei]> i'll let you pick the last one
* Tofu-Chan wishes she could fap
<Tofu-Chan> thatd make life alot easier :(
<[rei]> aww cmon hun go for it
<Tofu-Chan> okk
<Tofu-Chan> Ryuuken: babies :)
<Tofu-Chan> Maxi: Come back to us. :(
<[rei]> lolz! anybody else?
<Tofu-Chan> Sacred: Anime > J-Drama. =O Yes, I said it. And Whut?
<Tofu-Chan> Lenn: Name-stealing assface. =) *hugs*
<Tofu-Chan> there
<Tofu-Chan> thats all
<Tofu-Chan> xD
<[rei]> lololz
<[rei]> thanks
<[rei]> i really appreciate it
<Tofu-Chan> =)
<Tofu-Chan> anything for sex
<[rei]> sorry i dun do minors
* Tofu-Chan hugs rei and slids her hands down rei's shoulders
<Tofu-Chan> awww
<Tofu-Chan> Guess I'll have to settle to rape
<Tofu-Chan> :<
<[rei]> go down any lower and i'll chop ur hands off
<[rei]> >.>

He can be annoying, 'pinchy' (-________-), misunderstood and opinionated (xD) but he is nonetheless lovable, friendly, sweet and hardworking :)

Since the time he has joined the NL (due to peer pressure), he has constantly churned out articles one after the other.

The CBNL Member of the Month for November is Scorch777.

~ Tell us a little about yourself?

Didn't see this award coming...
Anyway, real name is Nick. Which is why some people choose to call me that. 15 years old and I reside in sweet, sweet Melbourne in Australia.

I'm a mild supporter of anarchy and have a fascination to the Kingdom of Jerusalem, the crusades, Medieval history and Christian theology. And I tend to not get along with people who can't use grammar or spelling very well. I usually think they're nobs, not nubs. Nobs.

Right now I'm sounding about 60 years old. I play cricket, rugby occasionally and very rarely, Australian Rules Football aka Footy.

I don't have a job, because I always quit from one due to boredom. Also, I have a tendency to write long, uninteresting English pieces for no real reason.

~ What do you think of the CBNL now since the day you've joined?

It's great. The team are all pretty friendly, they're a pretty active lot and they all do their job really well.

Since I've joined, I've taken a bigger interest in the content and the workings of the CBNL, and found out some of the things they do to make it happen.

CBNL ftw.

~ What can we do to improve it?

The only thing I can think of, is finding ways to attract more readers.

The editing is at a high standard and the articles always have good and interesting information and content.

I'm having a problem when I can't conceive ideas in the morning. <.<

~ Did you think you will be CBNL MotM? How do you feel to be nominated for CBNL Motm?

I didn't really give an honest sh*t about awards, so I didn't think about it. So I suppose the answer is no.

It feels okay to win an award. But I'm thinking the CBNL staff are growing thin, which resulted in me getting chosen.

Which leads me to the point that we may need more staff members. For writing more articles and not letting people like me drag down the standard of a CBNL MotM award.

I'm done :)
Thanks for the award, nevertheless, and it's a somewhat honour to have been chosen.

Love,
Nick L.

Poems by Storm King

[Untitled I]

Once a week,
Once an hour,
Every minute per hour,
And every second of the minute...
The clock still moves.
Slowly but surely,
waiting for no one.
Not a day is the same
as there are things
that always made them different.
And I keep going
to hide them in my memories
into the inside and deep.
If I ever claimed
that I have forgotten someone,
I've lied to this world.
There will be no exact events
and no specific actions
'Cause not a single day
is the same.

[Untitled II]

There's always a sight of beauty
Or the sight of pouring rain,
The blowing wind,
The burning sun
And the cloudy sky.
People walking and talking
In grief or joy.

A window screen,
A true show
With no magical illusions.

Outside the window
Is not what it always seemed.
It's nothing but an untrue marvel.

----

Crown of Thorns
~Trouse~

My interpretation of time and space
Has lost my way. My mind is confused
And the lost of my senses is shutting down.
This white noise is why I’m losing my own sanity.
What am I to believe about the meaning of life?
Questions without answers, heading for emptiness...

Sliding plates bring volcanic eruptions
Total chaos will lead to total corruption
Anarchy reigns. Am I my own saviour?
Exceeding mythological proportions, my own shepherd?
Or am I wearing a crown of thorns, doomed to suffer?

My verdict is riveted.
I can’t distinguish
From my dark and alter-ego
To an Anti-Christ, malignant
And malicious self
- An embodiment of my putrefied identity
Which snatches away every bit of hope I have.

But loe and behold, a new Messias is born
The Light itself, a new source of eternal inspiration
I finally find myself, paranoia leaves my brain
I can see clear again, I can be myself again.
Life once more fills the holes in my soul
And shows me nothing could be gained down there.
Now I walk with my head held up high,
I want to show the world that I’m not just all talks...

Love is life.
Life is love.
I miss you.
Love me.

Caged Soul [From the Depths of an IM Box]
~♥ Ayalicious ♥~

I’d have preferred circuses and bread,
Rather than accept what’s been said;
For your lingering words, they rip through my soul,
Like fiend fire, set carelessly ablaze.

You mean the words that you say,
But not the harm they convey,
One click, I sign off – hush now, I want to listen no more.
Then with another, I return – you know I can’t stay away.

I think it’s my fault, I’d say,
After all, I signed on that day.
It’s funny how we don’t need to speak face to face
To convey our emotions – ‘Enter’ will suffice.

Distance is overrated, they say.
Yet love is underrated this way.
I fell too hard, for a faceless name.
Wishful thinking… perhaps in vain?

“There’s a time when I must depart,
Inevitably, I will break your heart.”
But you’ll never see the tears –
And no, my soul doesn’t count.

Take flight from our secret world,
Let’s forget the word games we twirled –
You’re right; all good things must come to an end.
But I’m not prepared, I’m not prepared…

It’s painful; do you really have to go?
You’re not eternal, but please – let me know.
Or will I be filed away in your past?
Forgotten, forever, alas?

Let’s hope our bittersweet goodbye,
Will give me the freedom to fly –
Give me back my shattered heart,
And let this caged bird depart.

(Written from the perspective of a girl in love over the internet. All good things, however, must come to an end at some point.)

34 degrees
~kensei_viz~

A thick blanket
Of a dark and dusty mist
Black like shadow
Smothering, looming,
Grasping my throat, as I gasped for air
Enveloped amongst the smoky darkness

Black like the tall trees
Once, green, tall and towering,
Now, black, flaking, wrapped
by dancing orange hues
Dancing, crackling,
Jumping from branch to branch

Branch to ground
Ground to walls
Of ancient, wooden ebony
Roaring, growing
Charred and disintegrating

The scorching heat of crimson
Surrounded by the blinding glow
Under that looming black abyss
I stay - no, I'm stuck amongst the closing circle...

Closing, reaching...
Drowning in that gold and crimson sea.

Reaching...

A mysterious figure steps in, amongst the black sea of smoke
An alien, immune to the biting flares of that gold and crimson sea
Breaking the circle, a hand reaching
No face appears,
- As I, instead, just stare back at a smoky image of myself

Saved.
Still coughing, gasping,
For now cleaner air
The black cloud still lingers, looming
That crimson sea,
dancing, jumping, crackling,
Yet now accompanied by cool jets of water.

No face appears when he stares back
As I stare at a smoky image of myself.
The mysterious alien.
The hero.

He takes off his helmet.

Have We Met?
~.//Espeon~

Have we met?
Did I see you in my dreams?
Are you that angel that fell from the sky?
Are you the one that clouds my mind?

Have you been hitting my heart?
Are you the one making it beat faster?
Have you done something to me?
Did you just hit me with an arrow?

Have we ever met?
When I see you I rather be near you than here
When I think, I think about you
When I close my eyes I see you

Have we even met?
I would like to met you.
You sound beautiful
And most amazing, indeed...

In celebration of Halloween, I've come up with a nice lantern piece that you can decorate.

Supplies:

- 7" clear glass cylinder vase
- 1 glass hanging votive
- 1 bottle of black acrylic enamel paint
- 1 pack of blank etching stencil sheets
- 1 swivel knife (Exacto makes this)
- 1 roll or pack of transfer paper
- a simple Halloween-themed design (cats, bats, ghosts, pumpkins, etc.)
- 1 spouncer brush
- 1 tea light candle or a flameless tea candle
- Windex or glass cleaner
- Paper towels
- 1 paper plate
- 1 piece of hard cardboard or cutting board or cutting pad or scrap piece of wood

*Note*

Because you're using a sharp cutting tool, make sure you have your parent's permission if you're under the age of 14. If you're 14+ and your parents might freak if you use sharp tools, let them know that you're using it. I'm not responsible if you cut your finger off. I'm joking. You can't cut your finger off with a swivel knife, but you can make a nice deep gash. I digress.

A hanging votive is a bell shaped piece of glass that hangs upside down in the cylinder vase, giving you a way to suspend your candle in the vase.

A spouncer brush is a sponge brush used for stenciling.

"Spounce" means to tap the brush. The spouncer has a large flat surface so tapping the flat surface on your intended area leaves a spongey looking effect.

You need an enamel paint to use on glass. Regular acrylic paint won't stick.

----------

Preparations:

Clean the cylinder vase's outside. Set on the side to completely dry.

Step 1:

Take your Halloween design, transfer paper and blank etching stencil. Make sure that you put the cardboard or cutting pad on your work surface. You don't want to make cut marks on your mom's dining table do you?

Place the transfer paper on the etching stencil and make sure the graphite side is facing down.

Place the design on top of the transfer paper. You can do it right side up or upside down, depending on which way you'd like the design to face. Alternating would be best.

Using a pencil or pen, trace the design. Lift up a small corner of the transfer paper and design (make sure not to move them) and check to see how the design came out on the stencil. If the design is too light for you to see properly, retrace the design. Once you feel the design is dark enough, carefully remove the design and transfer paper.

Step 2:

Take the swivel knife and carefully trace the transferred design that's on the etching stencil. Make sure you don't smudge the transfer, or you'll have a harder time cutting it out. Once you've completed tracing the design with the swivel knife, cut it from the rest of the stencil.

Step 3:

Repeat step 1 and 2 if you want to put many designs on your vase. Just don't overload the vase with designs or you won't be able to see them clearly at the end.

Step 4:

Take your vase, peel the border of the stencil away and place the cut-out designs on the vase. Keep in mind that you want the design on the vase. The eyes, noses, mouths, and what not should not be on the vase.

Step 5:

Place a dollop of paint on the paper plate. Take the spouncer brush and dip it in the dollop. Spounce the brush on another part of the plate to get rid of excess paint. Lightly spounce the brush across the entire surface of the vase, including the stencil designs you placed on it. Once you're done painting, allow the paint to dry completely.

Step 6:

Apply another coat of paint to the vase. Set aside to dry again.

Step 7:

Once the paint is dry, carefully peel the stencils off the vase. If you can't grip the edge of the stencil, use a pair of old tweezers. Make sure you don't chip off the paint around the design!

Step 8:

Take your hanging votive and place it in the vase. It hangs right on the rim of the vase, so don't worry about trying to get it all the way to the bottom. Whatever you put inside the hanging votive is supposed to be suspended in the vase.

Step 9:

Put the tea-light candle or the flameless tea candle in the hanging votive. Place the vase wherever you want and light it up.

----------

Voila! A Halloween lantern for your aesthetically pleasing home! Hope you enjoy making this "easy" project. :3

The Great Divide

Hello and welcome to the Great Divide, where I pick ten random members and give them a chance to have their say in the greatest questions of life.

So what is the question this time? Well...

"Which is the best instrument? Guitar or Piano?"

=========

mateff

And the answer is: Piano is crazy skilled and such a dream instrument but i have never seen a dude carry a baby grand around to get chicks at the party either.. duet solves the problem :whatevah:

================
Naru

Agh, hard one ó__ó
Erm... it took me a while to decide but, I guess piano. :3
Imo, the musical notes sound prettier than with the guitar XD
But the guitar sounds pretty cool though... :<

================
Miss Murder

Well, the answer is guitar 'cause I can smash it against the floor or smash it in other people's heads.

================
Hisui-chan

I think piano is the best instrument. It's a good first step to learn piano if you want to familiar yourself with any music. I don't think there's an instrument that can convey the pianist's emotion (love, sadness, anger, anxiety, happiness) and message better than the sound of a piano. The beautiful sounds can help brighten the mood of people, and I think that's what music is about, to ease the stress of individuals and brings serenity to the souls. That's something that is only capable through mastery of piano.

================
Semiazas

Historically the guitar was here first, but the piano had more popularity, especially during the renaissance. Musically, the guitar is better in my opinion because you can play a wide range of styles on it (rock/metal/country/blues/jazz/classical) while on the piano you are a bit restricted. Both offer a wide range of possibilities, but i say guitar because it is more portable, can be fixed easier and is a good source of income if your a poor musician ;)

================
Yukoshi_kin

I prefer piano because I can learn how to play it easily (Well, I'm not an expert piano player). I don't know about you, but it's hard for me to learn how to play guitar. I tried it once. I didn't like to play with it. Guitars are not bad instruments. However, I'm sticking to piano because I can recognize the notes from it.

================
.K'

The best instrument would have to be the guitar.
Compared to the piano, the guitar is easier to learn and doesn't require as much extensive training and lessons to play it well.
The sound of a guitar is almost universal in different genres of music.
The harmonics of a guitar is a beautiful sound.

To add some experiences I've had with both instruments, I am really bad at both. But I can honestly say I enjoy the random fretting of guitar than looking like a retard on a piano playing off keyed to a tune that can only be heard inside my head.

================
Obbywan

Piano. Everything related to music is derived from the Piano - it is the source of everything we appreciate in the musical sense in our world today.

================
Twister1352

I am a fan of Guitar, I like classic rock music and some new stuff so of course guitar more than piano

================
Miyagi Rikku

I love guitars since I was a child, so I would much rather prefer that. Although I had piano lessons back then and I was not really much that interested with it till I gazed my eyes on a guitar. I just like guitar, you can carry it anywhere you want, its portable. :D

================

And the winner is...

NOBODY!! :o

For the first ever time we have a TIE!!

http://www.till.com/blog/images2006/twins-guitar-piano.jpg

The Guitar is just as popular as the Piano (5-5) :o

Tune in next time where I ask the question:

"What power would you rather have? Fire or Ice?"

It was a good NL. Keep up the awesome work, guys!

Yes i have read it, and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed doing so. The articles were humorous and well written, especially the "Many types of fangirls" article and the interviews.
The talent of CB is always pleasant to see, with the CBNL Gallery being there every time, I always go straight to that section to see the amazing art CB has to offer, keep up the good work!

And with that I conclude; excellent articles, reviews and interviews. My only slight criticism is that sometimes it can be a bit too clustered, if you could put separate articles, reviews and such into spoiler boxes, that way it will be easier to navigate around it.

Other than that, excellent stuff guys =]

This month's was ok the only section that got my attention was the Machinima. . . and as I have said before still not enough Quincy hawt smexyness

I liked the Random Articles (especially Machinima) and The Great Divide.

I don't really appreciate the Interviews, cause I don't know the featured people. I guess you could say that I could be more e-social. I'm sure the more seasoned members enjoy them, though.

Overall, the NL is pretty good. It looks polished and prepared. It's evident that the people involved put some real thought and effort into it.
Hmm, suggestions... I don't know, maybe a section where the readers are updated with all the occurring e-drama? You know, like how so-and-so in the CBRPG is a cheater, who got de-modded, who got into a flame war about Pikachu vs. Mudkip, etc. After all, what would CB be without e-drama? lulz
(:

I have read this month's issue, and I must say, any suggestions I had previously would now be null and void, simply because you all have improved on from the past. Bluntly stated, past issues lacked "life", but the new inclusions, especially the cooking lessons, the News Letter is looking better and better.

However, if I do still have one suggestion, it would be the inclusion of more interaction with the Bleach Project, covering some of the current events/contests, as well as interviews from highlight members and divisions.

Other than that, its looking great so far!

The News Letter Staff would like to thank you all for your feedbacks and suggestions. If you would like to voice your feedbacks and suggestions please feel free to PM it to Iro.

Thank you.
