huzzah for alexisonfire!

yah, but listen to what cetamora suggested... good stuff.

you wanted new style rock? you mean modern stuff? well...do you like hardcore, screamo, metal, punk, pop punk, emo, industrial?

with all the bands i listed you can go to purevolume.com and search for them (except give up the ghost). since you like alexisonfire i'll suggest:

bane

underoath (one of my favorite songs ever is "reinventing your exit")

fear before the march of flames ("fear before vs. the state of texas" is awesome)

from autumn to ashes

silverstein

atreyu

give up the ghost (they've broken up but their album "down til we're underground" is an amazing. i think you download mp3s off of interpunk.com, but you have to pay)

harrison bergeron

throwdown

I recommend progressive rock/metal.

Dream Theater, Symphony X, Ayreon, Star One, The Flower Kings, Spock's Beard, The Jelly Jam, Mullmuzzler, Pink Floyd, The Mars Volta are all good choices.

the used are good to listen to if you're into bands like my chemical romance. you can find music from other bands in that vein on purevolume.com or their myspace account(and this is a mix of dark sounds and poppier sounds):

from first to last

my american heart

hawthorne heights

taking back sunday

gatsby's american dream

matchbook romance

CURSIVE (holy hell "the ugly organ" is one of the best concept albums ever. check out "art is hard". i think a bunch of the songs are available on the website to saddle creek records).

Bloodhound Gang!! "Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo" is one of my recent favourite songs. ^^

Umm, I don't really know what 'rock' is, as there are many different types and I just don't understand how it's all worked out (I don't really care what genre of music my stuff is, really).

Metallica.
Jimi Hendrix.
Motorhead.
Smashing Pumpkins.
Bloodhound Gang.
Foo Fighters.
Queen of the Stone Age.
Kings of Leon.
System of a Down.
Coldplay.
Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

Basically because these bands are classified as heavy metal bands... I for one don't like them very much... Don't see the beauty in heavy metal... Oh I forgot to say Breaking Benjamin is a great band! Must add to my list...

cetamora

DT is not a HM band

Jasper
11-17-2005, 10:56 PM
DT is not a HM bandI was referring to the other two... Dream Theatre isn't a heavy metal band (or so I've heard... I never actually got to hear any of their songs)

cetamora

Sonata have like nightwishs clean sound (but no opera thank god) and children of bodoms thrashing guitars. If u don't like CoB it's a possibility that u will like sonata. They are anyhow one of the fastest playing band on Irth. INSANLY FAST.

CoB is like more dirty, growlier and meaner version of nightwish. They have very clatchy tunes. Atleast that's how I define em.

DT is like very, very proggresive metal. Experimental like hell and never boring to listen to. The singer seems a little gay but u get used to it. The tightest band on earth. They seem almost a little jazzy. Not a single band and very far from mainstream but becomes mainstream cuz of their unique style and amazingly high-levveld bandmembers. Mike Portney and John Petrucci is like the best in their respective subject. U got to atleast check em out
