I really like this game, there was a gamer-tv-show that gave a preview of the game. They showed all the features of the game, the thing i like best of all was the mobility of the assassin.

The game is awesome, but it'll take a while before i can buy one :D

lordstrix

well here it is
Assassin's Creed is set in AD 1191, when the Third Crusade was tearing the Holy Land apart. Shrouded in secrecy and feared for their ruthlessness, the Assassins intend to stop the hostilities by suppressing both sides of the conflict. Players, assuming the role of the main character, will have the power to throw their immediate environment into chaos and to shape events during this pivotal moment in history.
The story follows Altaïr, a disgraced master assassin who embarks on a quest to restore his status within the Assassin Order. After failing to assassinate the Templar leader Robert de Sable and recover the legendary Templar Treasure, Altaïr is demoted to Uninitiated (the lowest rank in the Assassin Order).
But Sinan, leader of the Assassins, offers him an opportunity to redeem himself. Altaïr must venture out into the Holy Land and assassinate men said to be exacerbating and exploiting the hostilities created by the Third Crusade. In doing so, he will stabilize the region, allowing Sinan to usher in an age of peace.
When the game begins, Richard the Lionheart has just recaptured the port city of Acre from occupying Saracens. With a base of operations established, the Crusaders prepare to march south. Their true target is Jerusalem – which they intend to recapture in the name of the Church. However, Saladin, leader of the Saracen army, currently rules the city. Stinging from his army’s defeat at Acre, he will not allow Richard to humiliate him again. The Saracens are massing at the ruins of Fortress Arsuf, intending to ambush the Crusaders and prevent them from reaching Jerusalem.
These war maneuvers have left the rest of the Holy Land wide open. While Richard and Saladin battle one another, the men left to govern in their stead have begun taking advantage of their newfound positions of power. Exploitation, manipulation, and provocation rule the day. It is in this chaotic mess that Altaïr now finds himself. He is ordered to eliminate those most active in their exploitation. This is how the Assassin begins his mission.
Along the way, however, he will begin to discover that his targets are bound by more than just a shared interest in personal gain. They share membership in a secret society familiar to the Hashshashin. And they are not simply looking for profit. Their true goal and how they plan to achieve it leads to a modern-day conspiracy with secrets to be discovered during the course of the story.

Great game, been playing on it loads the past few days. D:

Although i'm only up to the 4th assassination, i've been going around finding all the eagle points and saving all the citizens. Mind you i can see it getting repetative nearer the end with these assassinations, i mean its the same stuff over and over for each assassination so far, go around, pick pocket a guy, eavesdrop over a convosation, murder for infomation or interrigate someone... Still though i am really enjoying it so far. D:

Allow me to appologize in advance if there is another thread about this topic, I did not see one before making this one.
While we're on the topic of great games, I suggest our X-box 360 owners pick up Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed.
The game is absolutely beautiful, and the controls grant quite a bit of
freedom - though they take a few minutes to get used to.
With 3 major cities and an "inbetween" kingdom to explore, Assassin's Creed offers a lot of eye candy for those of us that enjoy crisp graphics.
Each city has tons of little missions and amazing views necessary to map out the entire city. You can save citizens of the city and enjoy the view points to help map out the city, or you can stalk the guards from the rooftops or the shadows and assassinate them at will. The battle system is unique and the counters are quite brutal.
If you don't mind a little repetition then I strongly suggest picking it up or at least renting it.

I just beat Assassin's Creed, and the ending is a combination of amazing and a cliffhanger that makes be want to set Ubisoft on fire. So, who wants to discuss a sequel?

ProtoFunc
11-30-2007, 07:37 AM
roflcakes..

AC rox my sox.

i beat the game the week it came out.. the only "repetition" is in the side quests (saving citizens, gathering information) and even so, what game isn't like that? >.>.. the assassinations themselves are different.

only hint after you beat the game.....

use your eagle vision on the wall behind the bed.. after you do that, it's the end of the game so don't be like.. "what do i do now?"

this game was awesome imo.. worth playing just for teh freaking LEAP OF FAITHS!!! i can leap all DAY LONG! and the fighting/running/assassinating is sex. i love it.

can't wait till they come out with the sequel. hopefully AC 1 raised enough support to result in a part 2. i know that was an issue.....but damn, altair is a real man's man.

the 8th assassination was hella long too xD but fun at teh same time......and ZOMGZOR!!

Was anybody else stoked when you found out the chick who worked with the animus was an assassin and possibly worked with them????? when i saw her finger was CHOPPED OFF i was like, DAMN!!!

I just finished it.
A bit late, perhaps, but I seriously recommend to buy it for anyone thinking about it.

The smoothness of the character's moves, the interactivity.
Everything was awesome.

The ending just made me want to know what would happen if there was a sequel.

But, god, I hated the beggars.
You're trailing someone, and they come up to you, blocking you from your target. Then you try to silently assassinate the target, then BAM! you accidentally stab the beggar.

It's a pain to run away from the guards. <.<

But, seriously, get the game.
Full of goodness.

Artemis

And I hear a sequel coming along too.
:D

But since there hasn't been much hoot about a sequel yet, it probably means it'll come out in early 2009. :<

I'm thinking that since Desmond has so long been on the Animus, he's abilities are almost fully synched to Altair, which is why you can use Eagle Vision at the end.

Which could result in Lucy and Desmond break out and join the other Assassins and try to regain the world through assassinating key members of the Templars.

Just a theory.

Anyone else got a theory?

...And i think thats the first time I've used a spoiler for what it's supposed to be used for. :D

Favorite thing to do is fight with either my dagger or just my hidden blade.

It takes a LOT of practice and really good timing, but if you counter with just your hidden blade, you can pull off some sick counters.

I love fighting guards with my dagger and knocking them down - because then I just sheath my dagger and pull out my HB and stab them in the throat on the ground to finish the job and walk away. Just another day in the city.

Or assassinating every guard around a View Point tower, one by one. Walking up to the first one all sage-like...SHANK...Blend again and wait for his slow buddy to walk over and inspect him...SHANK...rinse and repeat.

I'm up to the 9th person on the game. Looking forward to the sequel. IMO they should do some improvements like you should be able to knock a person out and steal clothes, act like a retarded or drunk person and actually put the stealth feeling into the game. But hey still a good game.

It's a solid game overall, the story has given Ubisoft a great opportunity to make money on the sequels.
Overall I think the game looks and moves incredibly and any criticism of the engine overall would be irrelevant. Some criticisms directed at the gameplay mechanics are very accurate though, some of the design choices are just old recycled methods that have been around for too long and break the Illusion somewhat.
The Interrogations are a fine example of this, you follow the target in stealth, he predictably goes to the darkest corner of the city and then turns around and waits for you, it's broken and in 2007/2008 it should be a thing of the past.
Other claims about assassination repetition are a little over the top, I didn't find them too repetative and welcomed the post fight cutscenes myself.

I will say again, it's a fine example of a developer promising the sky, it happens all the time now with the increased influence of PR and the Hype machine getting started very early on. Assassins creed could have been so much better really, but alot of the mistakes will be ironed out for the sequel i'm sure and Ubi have made themselves a solid and generally well received foundation to build on.

^^ To me its like a cliffhanger. It is a trilogy after all. By the way, I just finished the game. Overall the game was too easy. I spent no more than one minute beating Al Mualim. All I did was counter then hidden blade, DONE!!! I agree with some other people that Assassins Creed would've been better but meh I hope the sequel will be better.

WERD!

a very accurate and honest opinion/critique on the game. game isn't the best, but it's not the worst. overall i got satisfaction out of beating it and do look forward to/will buy the sequel. if they don't work out the quirks by the second game though, then i'll express disappointment.

Beat the game in a week, each assassination took a day. it was awsome for me to found out why Richard the Lionhearted did not attack jersualem, because Altair wanted peace. the ending was a massive cliffhanger though.

those symbols on the floors and walls? yeah they're all multiple prophecies of the end of the world, including the firestorm of death, 2012 December 21st, Mayan Predictions and some asian predictions. theres probably gonna be a sequel regarding that.

My favorite thing to do is just get ALLOT of guards on me and just counter attack them, one hit kills FTW its also stylish.

I did enjoy the game overall but I felt it didn't reach its potential. They did a great job making a sandbox-like enviornment but they concentrated too much time on the sandbox instead of spending a little more time on what to do in the sandbox as AC felt quite repetitive at times. Aside from that, the graphics are great even though the framerate drops at times. The voice acting is top notch and the story was very interesting. Hopefully, the sequel will improve on this and ubisoft trying harder on what to do in the sandbox. Overall, I give this game an 8.8

PRoblem with beating the game is when you click contiune you start with the beginning of the cutscene after defeating Al Mualim
Then you have to wait though all that cutscene and credits crap before you get back killing some Crusaders/Muslims. The chase scenes (if you run away from the guards) are fun its all indiana jones style, jumping though merchant carts swining.etc fun stuff, counter attacking is the most funnest thing though.

Was when you had to collect 20 flags for that guy. I mean, come on Ubi, being ******* original you cunts.

Kuroudo
01-17-2008, 02:19 AM
getting the flags isnt a requirement for beating the game y'know..i love taking on like 20 guards then just killing them by using counter-attack. Templars suck, i hate them.

I also discovered this if you haven't figured this out

Richard's Leave from the Holy Land

In the 3rd Crusade after taking acre Richard the Lionhearted and his army marched south towards Jerusualem his army prepared his forces ready, he could have sieged the city. but no Richard instead turned around and left for England to fight the french a few years later (of which he died then) many historians believe that Richard saw that his mean where low in morale, and were weakned compared to the size of Saladin's defense force.

Fictional Assassins Creed Explanation

While you were off killing the templar leaders, Richard and Saladin fought renlentlessly at the end of the game You Fight Robere'De Sable and kill him, Alt'air explains to Richard that the only way to resolve this conflict is to stop the crusades and have peace, though this is what Richard wants Alt'air proves him that what he is doing will only bring more pain, this fills in tha the Hasshasshin (The First Order of Assassins) managed to stop the war all together in secrecy, because there was no scolar to record this because it was in the middle of a battle, this was never recorded.

I enjoyed the Prince of Persia games alot more then this one. Although Assassins Creed does start out very nicely, and the ending is pretty good. The inbetween sucks, and it gets waaaaay too friggin' repetative. You do the same thing over and over again, countless times. It really sucked the fun out of the game...well for me it did anyways. With the PoP games you were always going somewhere different and solving different puzzles. I enjoyed that alot more then this game.
Get mission go to a couple different cities, and do the same thing for each one(View points, Ease Drop, Interrogation, Pickpocket, and Save Citizen(if you want)). Then later go back to the same friggin cities and do the same thing again.
All I know is that I hope the later installments in this game are alot better.

I agree though the repeteive missions where annoying but the fighting parts just kept me to love it.

Most Likely it will be in 2012 (present day) or after Al'Tair defeated Al'Mualim and since the end cutscene showed several blood stains if you havent figured it out already they are all predictions of the end of the world the game takes place in September 2012 and is 3 months away from December 21st 2012 the set date of Apocolapyse it will haven something to do with Templars vs Hasshasshin (Assassins) and Myles will be the main char (notice how his white hoody resembles Al'Tair's outfit.)

young_saiyan
04-17-2008, 07:22 PM
Actually, while your fighting one guard, the other will attack you and you can perform a counter attack that's so beautiful it makes you cry.

I love Assassin's Creed. Love it. Absolutely adore it. You know in the first mission, if you go to the edge of Masaya (or however you spell it) and keep walking in that direction you can get that Eagles achievement for 100 kills or something. And the leap of faith's... *drools*

Best part of the game though is the Templars. I love killing those ***wipes. x3

This was a good game in my opinion. But it did get repetative after a while. Luckily it wasn't some ridiculously long game and the repetativeness wasn't too terribly noticeable. The counter attacks are a thing of beauty.

Vamp, the game is definately worth getting and playing through once.

I want this game soooo bad. I even looked at it at the store today. But, I do not have the money atm. And that annoys me more than you don't know.

Maybe I'll just dl it : >

I'll see, if some money comes up I would like to buy it. I like having the casing and the original games : )

If anything, rent the game. You'll beat it within in a few days and you'll be satisfied that you played a pretty good game while at the same time satisfied that you saved money from not buying a pricey game. It depends on how much you can withstand the repetitive nature of the game.

When you're fighting. Other guards will attack you too so be aware of your surroundings when you're surrounded by multiple guards. The countering system is sweet and s fun to do. Instead of attacking, I'll try to counter every attack. xD

I hate repetition :<

How is it repetitive? Are the levels all the same? If so, it's a real no-no for me...

The levels aren't the same, but it's repetative in the sense that your objective is pretty much the same.

Yeah levels are very nice. But action is way to repetative.
