The info's all in the manga.

They probably never even fought after hearing the announcement about Aiken.

Because Cap't Ukitake was unhurt while questioning Aiken.

They DID fight HitsugayaT. If you check right when they use the telepathy skill thing (can't remember the name), you can clearly see Ukitake and Shunsui bloodied up. (on the face)

True. They did fight, but not for long. They were interrupted by Isane telling them something..
