Medieval 2 problem

Hi guys,

I have gotten my hands (*cough* DOWNLOADED *cough*) on Medieval 2: total war, and I'm having a bit of problems with it. Not with the software itself, but with the gameplay: when I start the game with whatever faction (tried 'em all), I try to expand my lands ASAP, but I always end up having huge chunks of lands, but having lots and lots of debts, so I have to start over again. Does anybody have a few tips for me?

usually when i play it, my main source of profit is from invading other lands looting! but you also have to build your cities with mines and farms to increase you income. i hope that helps ^_^
