I looked at my father and was filled with great sadness. I weeped for several hours before being found by servants. They called the police.
The coroner could not find anything unusual with my father's body. I am not surprised. Father knew this was going to happen. He had been acting weird all day. This was expected, on his 40th Birthday. I wondered what REALLY had happened, little did I know that I would find out soon enough.
Funeral preparations were taken care of by my father's brother, Micheal. I spent the time between my father's death and the funeral stuck in my room. Not because I wanted to be alone, but because that's where my uncle placed me. He went so far as to have me guarded. Micheal was always jealous of my father, whether in athletic competitions or in marriage. I thought he was just snooping around my house.
That night, I felt hungry, so I sneaked past the guard, who was sleeping on his watch chair, and made my way to the kitchen. On the way I overheard someone talking. It was coming from the fire place, the same place I saw "Uncle E." I crept closer to see my uncle, Micheal talking on a cellphone to someone.
"Yeah, he bought the farm, so to speak, about damn time. So the farm is going to be mine now. I'm going to send his brat to boarding school and stay here." He was saying. I backed up slowly knocking a broom to the ground. "When do you plan on..." He turned toward my direction as I ducked out of sight. I crawled back to my room where I wept again.
The following day was the day of the funeral. I put on my best suit and sat in a church quietly. I gritted my teeth as I listened to my excuse for an uncle give the eulogy.
"I am filled with great sorrow. My brother was a truly great person, when we were young we would joke about..." He continued. My mouth turned sour. Outside, a storm began to brew. Several loud claps of thunder was heard, and the lights began to flicker. The eulogy was cut short, thank God, as the bishop performed last rites to my father and we went to bury him. My tears were masked by the torrential rains as they lowered my father underground.
When the burial was complete we headed to our cars, Micheal reserved a limousine for him and myself. The car ride home was silent. When we arrived home, our entrance hall was flooded. The rivers had risen a great amount, and it seemed to have seeped through the doorway. I walked through the doorway and proceeded to go straight to my room when my uncle grabbed my shoulder.
"Wait... do you want to talk?" He asked.
I shoved him down screaming "No, I do not want to talk." I was about to dash for my room when he grabbed my wrist.
"You listen here, you ungrateful shit. I'm trying to be nice to you, and if you want to stay around here, you'll pay me some respect." He raised his arm and smacked me across the face. I fell into the water, blood from my lip dripping into the river's overflow.
My eyes began to glow a bright white and the water began to swirl. "Stay around here?" I yelled. "Weren't you just going to send me to boarding school?" The area beneath my feet became dry, the water swirling around me.
Micheal began to become frightened. "W-w-what are you?" My voice began to reverberate against itself, making it sound as if there were two people talking at once.
"I am the storm that Noah feared, I am the flood that Daedalus hid from, but I am NOT your nephew." I rose my hand, a stream of water surrounded Micheal. He was trapped, and I closed my fist, immersing him in the watery prison. I watched him for a couple of minutes, squirm, struggle, until he had no energy, no oxygen, then he stopped moving. I chuckled and released the water. He plopped to the ground, motionless.
I heard clapping from behind me, instinctively I moved my arm towards the noise, a stream of water following. I turned around, a cane dispersed the water.
"Is that any way to greet your TRUE Uncle?" Said a large figure with an ever-present grin. My glowing eyes went away, and the water returned to flood the floor.
