I think some of you might’ve been to an arcade before, in fact, I’m almost positive of it.
In that case Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles will either be a nostalgic trip back to putting an extra 25 cents to play Time Crisis, or something that might be rather new: a light gun game on a console.

Familiarity will the “genre” aside, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles is the new Resident Evil “on rails” light gun like game for the Wii.
Like you’d expect, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles has you pointing the Wiimote at the screen and using the motion sensing functionality to shoot at your enemies, it’s kind of mindless like Light gun games…but can also prove to be very challenging.
The control scheme works quite well.

I also assume you all know something about the Wii Zapper, a tool used to enhance the first person experiences on the Wii.
And it does its job well in my opinion.
But if you don’t have the Wii Zapper, then all hope is not loss, the Wii Zapper in no way really improves the gameplay to a high degree, some will argue that you might even be better off without it.
As the name implies Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles is a look back on the rise and fall of the Umbrella Corp, taking you through the vital events that lead to its “demise.” while at the same time, giving you a new level of perspective on some of the characters.
The game balances the old story with new untold elements, stuff that really wasn’t explained in the other games

But lets be honest, no one plays Resident Evil for the lame story.
I’m not quite sure if I can say this game is scary, but it’s quite tense, and at times very startling.
Anyways, from what I’ve played of Umbrella Chronicles I can safely say that it’ll provide you with hours of Lightgun like entertainment. But not everyone likes that kind of stuff, so this game isn’t really for everyone.

Yeah, from what I've heard from people who have played this game, its a hate it or love it type of experience.

If you like lightgun games, its supposed to be the best on the Wii so far.

I want to pick up a zapper for Link's Crossbow Trtaining but have heard nothing but bad things about it. What happened to the initial prototypes first shown at E3 06? Should have stuck with that IMO. So I guess I'll buy but not use it :/

Psh, speak for yourself :winking56 I'll hopefully get this in the Christmas sales.

edit: You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Miku again. :/

idk....there's a certain appeal to using the zapper. i myself am not going to buy it, but it does provide a gun-like feel as far as i can tell. personally i still don't mind the good ol' pointing wiimote as is.

anyway, download RE:UC, but i haven't even touched it because finals almost coming up :p

I find it to be rather difficult, even on Easy. That's good, though, some games these days don't provide enough of a challenge. I've definately had some "throw the controller" moments with this one.

Some of those boss fights man, seriously.

Tough.

I think they coulda handled the Nemesis fight alittle better, but it was still fun. I haven't beaten all the scenarios yet, thanks to Mass Effect, but I'll get to it soon. My only real gripe would have to be lack of an RE2 scenario.

Are you serious? No RE2? :/ I'm not that far, but I would think they would've included a few RE2 missions.

Yeah I was dissapointed back lack of RE2 scenarios, they gave Jill all the spotlight (not that it's a bad thing, per se- Jill is my favorite RE character). But there were some great boss battles in RE2, and it's a shame they were passed up.

Lame storyline? Yeah ok =/ Not only is the story in the whole franchise great, but UC just adds so much more awesomness. The end is amazing. Wesker truly is the ultimate Bad@ss.

Anyways, great game. Ive played it for almost 30 hours and I don't even have everything yet. The hidden files add so much replay value. And there are 2 RE2 scenarios. Fourth survivor and deaths door anyone?? In deaths door, you even had to fight a great boss from RE2. You need to do some researching on your RE history :O Both of those storylines happened during RE2, not RE3.
