So what does everyone else think about this? Jeff Gerstmann gives a bad review of Kane and Lynch at gamespot, and then they fire him... (gamespot is currently getting a looooot of money from the maker of Kane and Lynch)
Well, thats the story in a nutshell. Penny Arcade talked about it today, I had heard about it through a LJ community the day before. Apparently he was let go due to his "tone" not due to a bad review... Anyway, I am a person who will look at reviews before I purchase a game most of the time, and I used to go to gamespot. Its where I have my list of all my owned games, etc. I know game reviews are a joke, but now I guess there is proof. :/

Good for Gamespot. Anyways the game looks good. Too bad the PS3 version doesn't have voicechat which is a real disadvantage for online play. Exciting though, its got Havok physics. Sorry for being off-topic if I am. :)

All of Jeff's reviews suck (he gave Twilight Princess an 8.9, just to avoid giving it a 9, which would have made it get an award), but I still think GS is a biatch for firing him just for giving Kane and Lynch a poor review.
Heh i was gunna post about this last night, but i decided to go to bed instead. :p
Eitherway, i've just been browsing through the forums at the comments, its actually pretty damn funny reading everything what people has put. xD

Yeah, if you look at the gamespot page for Kane and Lynch, its place where they show the average of what the users give it is like at a 1.2 or something miniscule, just cause of so many people giving it 1s in retaliation.

regardless if people liked his reviews or not, he was still a pretty significant person. plus in my opinion he showed more enthusiasm for games than anyone else. i also looked forward to On the Spot because of him too. gamespot dug their own grave as far as i'm concerned....can't replace a guy like that. for the sake of game news i'll still frequent the site....other than that.....

You're joking right? The game got a 66 on metacritic for cripe's sake.
It doesn't matter if Gerstmann was a bad reviewer or not, he was right about the game, and the whole thing stinks of corporate ad-money shittiness.
PS: OMFGZ HAVOK PHYSIKS. ITS LIKE, BRAND NEW AWESOMENESS, NEVAR BEEN DONE BE4

I said the game "LOOKS" good. I never said I was going to get it. Right now I'm still looking at reviews, gameplay and such.

Read carefully now. I know it might be difficult for you to comprehend, but your complete misinterpreting of my second statement leads me to believe you have a hard time reading sentences.

Lets keep this focused on the complications that this little event is causing in the video gaming online world, ok guys? And whoever edited the title, thanks :D

Dude, I know nothing about Jeff or the freaking game. Like I SAID before I'm still looking at reviews, the gameplay and such. I don't have to reply to second statement if I didn't want to.
**Sorry hax, I'd like to get back to the topic (please)** I just watched the video that Tobi supplied. I can say that he gave a fair review of the game. Gamespot made money from firing him but in the long term I don't know what will happen to them. :shithappe

To be completely honest. I didn't think it would be a good game from the moment I seen the comercial for it. Just didn't look appealing to me in anyway. After watching the video that Tobi supplied... I can see that this game looks kinda crappy to me. I haven't read any real review on it (as everyone has their opinion about things) but just from the way the gameplay looks, I would deffinatly have to pass on that.
However as that guy was explaining about the multi player, that actually seemed really cool/interesting. I love how you can turn traitor on your team and jack the loot for yourself or if you die you become a cop. That's pretty original but still doesn't look worth buying to me.

it's sad really. the REAL problem is that Eidos had too big of an ego going into the project thinking that it would be a number 1 hit as soon as it came out. they should be more humble about the bad reviews they're getting, take those criticisms, and make a better game next time. instead Jeff becomes a victim.....frankly i'm glad hearing news of people backing off on their premium member subscription at GS....that'll learn 'em.

Gamespot's response. Though honestly, I understand that they can't talk about it. But they didn't reveal anything new, and it still seems awful fishy :/
