An Xbox 360 Dashboard update is coming out December 4, and it contains 3 main things:

1. Xbox Originals - Downloadable Xbox games(similar to Wii's Virtual Console)
2. Friends of friends - Xbox Live gamers can see the friends of their friends
3. DivX and Xvid support(most important!!!) - The video player will support the DivX and Xvid codecs(.avi files)which mean you can watch all the Bleach episodes on your TV and not your computer monitor!!!

as a person who doesn't own a 360 i could care less about this news, but i was sort of curious....

do you know if it will support ANY divx files, or will it only support divx files that are bought from various online download services?

The 360 can stream videos from a PC with Media Center, so any divx file you have on your computer will play on it, the PS3 also has a way to play divx files in there 2.0 firmware(don't really know as I don't own one), and the Wii can play avi's thru it's opera browser(but it requires a amazing computer).
