Yeah a little. I want to join an Rpg but do I have to go through Shinigami Academy? And what is that about anyway?

The Shinigami Academy is no longer active.
It used to be that you have to join it in order to participate in the Bleach Project (http://forums.bleachportal.net/forumdisplay.php?f=377).

It has been change that it doesn't require the Shinigami Academy in order for you to join a Division, only the requirements of individual Divisions will have to be met.

The Bleach Project is a Separate section and totally different from RPG.
