It took her a while to find him, but after thinking about it, his choice of place to rest was quite obvious.
Shinju paused outside of the door to his room, wondering whether or not she should knock.
“Over here.”
Surprised, she vaguely cocked her head to the side.
Serenade approached her side to rest his arm on her previously injured shoulder, careful as to not put too much pressure on it. “Where’ve you been this last hour?” he breathed in her ear.
“Looking for you,” she grinned, glancing at him from the corner of her eye.
Serenade returned the gesture. “Same here,” he chuckled. “I didn’t know that you were already released from the infirmary.”
“Mmm…” Shinju’s eyes glowed softly.
Thinking back to how he reacted when she was brought in by the two Finders, she asked, “How’re you feeling?”
He ruffled her hair playfully. “Hey, I’m the one who’s supposed to ask that.”
Her grin grew wider.
Grabbing the hand on top of her head, it took her mere moments to reposition his arm and lift herself on top of it. Despite his elegant frame, Serenade’s arm held still and strong like a well-made bench.
Shinju used one hand to grasp his arm and steady herself, the other to play with a strand of his hair.
“Serenade…”
“Yes?”
“Wanna go ask for a mission?”
Almost flabbergasted, Serenade turned his head to make full eye contact with her.
“Ask? I thought you hated going on missions, Shinju. The last one we went on together you complained to no end.”
“That was only because they were forcing me to fight,” she retorted.
“You know how much I dislike it.”
“And yet you didn’t hesitate in the least when you turned that one Akuma that attacked me into mincemeat. Remember how long it took to wash out all that blood from your clothes?”
“That was an exception – he spilled your blood first.”
“Heh…” Serenade shook his head. Out of all the people in this world, only for her did he have a soft spot.
Setting Shinju down, he began walking down the hallway. She quickly followed.
“Come on, we’ll go ask Komui or Reever for a mission. I think our skills are starting to get a little rusty.”
Shinju paused outside of the door to his room, wondering whether or not she should knock.
