@Warchef: Popularity =/= actual pairing. Just because the Japanese prefer Rukia as a character to Orihime does not make IchiRuki canon. In fact I have never heard of a pairings poll completed in Japan. I know there is character polls. I would be interested to see one though if you have a link?

I mean *if* he supports a relationship between Ichigo and Rukia for example, then it's because he's been evolving the relationship since the manga first went into circulation.

*If* he supports Ichigo and Orihime then it does appear that the last two or so arcs have supported that relationship.

Since this is a shounen manga, I don't think there will be any outward confessing (minus Inoue's), but he is a big fan of shoujo manga, so he may surprise everyone.

Arguing about which couple is canon and/or most likely to happen is retarded, just support a couple and don't argue about it I say.

I just don't know.. There isn't enough evidence from the manga/anime to support the pairing. I don't hate the pairing, just being realistic.

It seems like Ichigo rescuing Inoue has taken backseat to fighting Aizen and his cronies.

I don't see him putting a character who has taken a backseat for 4-5 arcs with the main hero of the story. I just don't, maybe I have a different frame of mind than you (which i'm sure I do), but there is more evidence from the manga to support Ichiruki than Ichihime, made more poignant by the fact that the relationship has taken on new levels, evolving as the manga progresses. They aren't lovers, and there is still no guarantee that they are going to get together, but their relationship seems ambiguous now. It's more than friends now, but less than lovers. As I stated before, I only dislike Orihime on the fact that her character seems extremely weak in the story, which I don't think would fit with Ichigo, who would need someone to reaffirm that he isn't a "freak" to put it bluntly. That certainly doesn't mean that it should be Rukia. But as for the Ichihime pairing, I honestly don't think Kubo will put them together. Yet, Ichigo protects her anyway, regardless of the fact that Rukia is oblivious to the fact that she isn't invincible.

Just because Inoue would be the person that Ichigo would want to protect (which is debatable), doesn't prove a romance.

Orihime is simply the best candidate as she requires protection due to the nature of her powers which would naturally be desired.

At the moment, Rukia is too tied up with the fact that she had to see Kaien's image in her enemy, killing him again to some degree which causes her an incredible amount of pain and anguish. Clearly a sign of her undying love for Kaien.

I agree with what you say to a certain extent Undying, but I don't think Orihime's willingness for protection means that Kubo is going to choose her over Rukia, or that Ichigo is going to develop feelings for her.

I also atm don't believe Ichigo has feelings for anyone; He seems primarily concerned with Aizen and the destruction of his remaining family and hometown. Romance can wait, big bad guy needs to die first.

That is the typical shonen line of thought, half a brain would have helped those protagonists. Also, Ichigo left to go stop Aizen, where Orihime also was... he didn't forget about her, it's just that they are in the same place.

If you recall the chapter with Ichigo and Ulqiorra, and his reaction to accusations about Rukia and Orihime, I think it's quite clear his state of mind about the friend that is in most danger :).

/sigh wrong. The IchiRuki relationship is highlighted by Kubo as that of a great friendship. Yes, they have a special bond, almost familial in a sense. Rukia and Ichi have a complex relationship but by no means should it be mistaken for a romanyic relationship or potential either. Now Im not saying IchiHime is a romantic relationship cause let's face it it's not but it has the potential to go there...if Ichi wasn't so emotionally retarded :/

As for Orihime taking the backseat, she is a supporting character, that is not the backseat, now Rukia, whose character arc has been resolved (confrontation of the 9th and Kaien's death), she has in fact taken a backseat and Orihime's character is being developed. It should be noted though that her character was being developed from the beginning of Bleach with more focus now. Oh and 4-5 arcs my ass to use wiki "Agent of Soul Society" and "Rescue Arc" focus on Rukia character development. The Arrancar arc and the Hueco Mundo arc however focus on Orihime more, albeit a resolution to Rukia's character arc.

D=. This Japanese dislike of her seems like a fabrication to me, she was ranked 8th in the last character poll, not a shoddy position if you ask me (even higher than Ulquiorra).

I think you have totally misunderstood Orihime's character. Orihime is by no means a weak character. Albeit physically weak she is a very strong character, yes she has insecurities, but for gods sake she is a 15 year old girl who got told by her elders she would be a liability in the war. She shows compassion even for her enemies, like Ishida pointed out, she also has an incredibly strong resolve, and has confronted enemies that have outclassed her in strength to stand for what she believes in (confrontation with Ulqy, who himself admires her strength . Naive yes at times, weak no.

As for Ichigo's insecurities...and Orihime's role Undying answered that, and may I say Undy well said! Kinda like Yin and Yang...:o I went there xD

I completely agree, but Im taking about scope and the logical outcome, you came into this club talking about the couple being less popular, and I have to say it is enjoyable to debate with you, but looking at the narrative logically Kubo is using tired old literary devices which would suggest and IchiHime progression. Now I for one could not care less who Ichigo ends up with he could end up with Ishida for all I care. I just see a stronger case for IchiHime in the manga that's all.

well when she first appeared in the intro of the very first show i already made a prediction that she would be paired up with ichigo, but as time goes on i feel i feel more strongly about this than i how i felt before, i notice how he treats her with the upmost respect and wants everyone to treat her with respect as he does, just like in one ep. (i don't know if it's the same in the manga ) shinji had accused inoue of being in a relationship with ichigo, ichigo said " it's nothing like that , and be sure to apologize to inoue " and i think this meant do not be disrespectful to inoue by pairing her up with me and also i really think he was trying to convey that inoue deserves better. also ep. 141 i always knew that she was in love with that boy,she was even dreaming about him in her sleep,and the way ichigo was sooooooo depressed when she was gone and how he was going to try and attack yamamoto through the tv when he was accusing inoue of being a traitor ,and imagine rukia and ichigo married, now i don't know about you but i would get pretty angry if i saw my husband (ichigo) treating my friend (orihime) better than me.And the sight of ichiruki *shudders* eew . I would say lots more but im to lazy to ^_^. so yeah i luv this pairing more and more throughout each and every ep. and chapter.

Originally I would agree with you on the above statement ( I made it bold face), but now I'm not too sure. I think that Kubo is moving Ichigo toward Orihime now. There's no doubt in my mind that Ichigo had a thing for Rukia and that he cares for her deeply, but the attraction that Orihime's had for Ichigo can be dated back to the first parts of the manga/anime. Ichigo has a drive to protect her (like he does for a lot of people). I don't think that Ichigo is "in love" with anyone yet, but I see him starting to fall for Orihime. Rukia hasn't shown any sort of "love" toward Ichigo. The last hint of attraction she showed him was back when she was taken through the gate back to SS by her bro and Renji. She shows more "love" toward Renji than Ichigo. Ichigo is her friend and comrade but will never be her lover.
And remember in the Manga/Anime when Ulquiorra was blocking Ichigo from running to Rukia to help her, when Ulquiorra mentioned that he did force Orihime to come to HM Ichigo flipped and completely forgot about Rukia. Ichigo was going to enter HM by himself to save Orihime when everyone else believed her to be a traitor.

I am definitely a convert. I was die hard IchigoXRukia at first, but I just don't see it anymore. Plus there is so much more basis for Kubo to throw RenjiXRukia together then IchigoXRukia now. I love the idea of RenjiXRukia, she softens him.

And about Orihime being too weak, isn't that the good thing, that she is weaker than Ichigo, she balances him that way with her level of strength and her cheerful personality. They compliment each other. Plus Ichigo and Orihime are humans and Renji and Rukia are souls, it fits so much better.

i guess it is not because i dont like Rukia... shes kool!!.. its just that she doesnt fit the part.... u get the drift? Rukia is...

2.) pushy
3.) acts like Renji
4.) very more of the sibling than a GF to Ichigo

i dont know but i kinda feel for the Ichi x Hime deal in episode 2... it kinda was a "HELLO!!! THEIR THE FUTURE COUPLE HERE!!! BLINK BLINK!!" it was flashing... really noticable.

First u start in the beginning that she didnt dislike Ichigo, but kinda had a thing for him... he saves her from her brother hollow and sparks the relationship... in the Soul Society when Ichigo saves Rukia, Orihime heals him and cries because she thought she lost Ichigo for good but he calms her, out of the any other female characters up until now, with a soft voice. (HINT!!!)

Third, when the modsouls took Orihime away Ichigo was one of the first to rush into action and says the same thing if anything happened to her... alot of worries

Fourth in the Mundo Arc the beginning when Orihime and ichigo severely got injured by an attack from an arrancar, he says he'll be more stronger to protect her, directly with the help of Rukia (i think by now Rukia sees it that they both like each other).

Fifth Orihime has a really strong connection to sense Ichigos Chi and so those Ichigo at even the tiniest strand, she also chooses to bid farwell to Ichigo before she departsto Mundo and Ichigo is the first to rush into action.... again.


Sixth- the slightest tone that orihime was hurt sturs up the blood in Ichigo... like alot. Even Orihimes feelings could put him at ease and successfully make him more stronger than he appears to be... even near his human form (watch EP 167)

plus he is way too gentle with her and her feelings, especially when she found out about the mask and he tells her that its ok to be scared of him as long as he protects her (that was the most charming lines to say to rescue a girl) hello its called DAISUKI!!!!! quoting on the "AI" part (love in Nihon).

anyways i have been a Orihime fan from Episode 2. GO ICHI HIME !!!

I absolutely agree with you here. Comparing the manga to the anime you can see that the IchiHime moments winnner is the manga.
Anyways, I prefer it here where we're not slamming or bashing other characters or possible relationships. And it's so intriguing to read other people's opinions on what may occur in the manga or theories. It's really enjoyable to discuss things like that and that's what I love most about this FC. :D

no matter how i see it... when two likely pairings are to occur... it always happens in the beginning when they first met... ithink it was noticable when they first looked at each other... the evil smile and stuff... i thought it was kinda obvious they were going to match up

Agree with crunchzoot! How can it not be Orihime and Ichigo? Rukia can never compare in her whole life to the passion and love shown by Orihime to Ichigo in just that one scene before she leaves to Hueco Mundo. That was just too deep man.
