The Spring Contest is, simply put, a contest made for the celebration of the Spring season (as the title very obviously states). It seems that Cherry Blossom viewing is rampant in Japan right now, and since we haven't had a contest in a while, what better way to kill two birds with one stone, yeah?

Well, why not? Think of the good points. We'll have:

(a) activity in the fanclub, which is always a good thing to see;
(b) oodles of fanworks that could keep any sane shipper satisfied until the Tanabata Festival;
(c) you can brag about joining!

What? The last one's not that important, you say? Well, so what? That's not the point!

Creation period and Submission of entries runs from April 01 to April 30.
Voting Period will occur on the First Week of May and the announcement of winners will occur after all the votes have been tallied.

NOTE: Please PM haliparot one week in advance if you think you will be unable to pass an entry on time so I can make changes in the dates accordingly.

In the Ichigo x Orihime FC, of course! All contest entries can be posted directly on the current Ichigo/Orihime FC thread within the submission period. There is no need to PM me any of your fantastic works. I'll be there to compile them all for everyone's convenience.

It's very, very simple. Anything--and I mean anything--that could possibly be related to Spring is a shoo-in for this contest. Orihime watering a strawberry plant? Ichigo watching the flowers bloom? Ichigo and Orihime watching constellations that only appear in Spring? Anything you could think of, in any medium you might want, will most likely be accepted.
Some rules to follow, though:

1) All entries must be original fanmade-works unique to this contest.
2) All entries must focus on Ichigo and Orihime in a Spring-related theme. This does not mean, however, that no other character can be included in your entry. As long as it focuses on our two vital characters, have a blast including the whole cast, if you wish.
3) Absolutely no flaming of the pairing or any of the characters is allowed.
4) Any genre and rating is accepted but please do not post M/R-rated fanworks directly in the forum. It would be preferable to have them linked.

First Ichigo x Orihime FC Tanabata Festival

This is the first (of what would hopefully be an annual event) Ichigo/Orihime FC Tanabata Festival. Orihime's name and Kubo associating her with 7/7 (for seventh day of seventh month) as well as naming her after the star "Vega" in one of the title pages is based on the Tanabata. Ichigo would be her Kengyu. Fits because at the moment there is this divide between them, almost as wide as the Milky Way that divides the stars Vega and Altair. Can you imagine if Kubo makes us wait until July before he has Orihime and Ichigo meet again? I don't know if I can wait that long. Er, yeah, here are links to the Tanabata:

Tanabata is also related to Obon holiday. And Ichigo's birthday of July 15 happens to be farewell Obon celebration. So those two holidays intertwine much like Ichigo and Orihime's story does. On another note, the Tanabata's date of 7/7 is associated with the importance of Time and the hope of being together in the future.]

April 30th to July 6th is the submission period. Please submit all fanfiction, videos, banners, art, and avatars within this time period VIA PM to Lady Orihime.
July 7th is Fan Fiction day. All submissions for fan fiction will be posted for viewing.
July 8th is AMV/MMV day. All submissions for AMV/MMV's will be posted for viewing.
July 9th is Banner day. All submissions for banners will be posted for viewing.
July 10th is Art day. All submissions for Art will be posted for viewing.
July 11th is Avatar day. All submissions for Avatars will be posted for viewing.
July 12th to the 13th is when the voting polls will be open. You also get to vote for your favorite IchixHime moment in the manga, as well as voting for the overall winner of the festival.
July 14th is when the winners will be announced. One Grand Prize winner of the festival overall will recieve Kubo Tite's "All Colour But The Black" art book.
July 15th is Ichigo's birthday. Pictures, fan art, avatars, etc. all having to do with Ichigo and Orihime celebrating Ichigo's birthday. Just for fun!

Simple, folks! First, you create your magnum opus, keeping in mind the characters and theme surrounding the contest. Second, you PM your MO's location to Lady Orihime. Third, you wait for the Festival Week to see the unveiling of your masterpiece. Fourth you vote for your favorite piece in the contest.

These are very lax how-to, but please follow these rules:

1) All Ages Welcome
2) All submissions must be Ichigo/Orihime/Tanabata related.
3) All submissions must be original works created especially for this contest.
4) Winners under 18 MUST get parent permission, and prove to us that you have permission (letter, call...), to have item(s) shipped to you or to parents if they prefer.
5) Works rated R and up must be tagged as so.
6) You may submit as much work as you want per category; however, only one of those works may be entered in the contest to win the prize. YOU will choose which one you would like to compete. Make sure you tell LADY ORIHIME in the PM which work you would like to enter to win the prize.
7) You can enter all contests if you so desire.
8) Even if you don't ship IchixHime, you are still allowed to enter the contest. The more the merrier!

NOTE: The Tanabata Festival contest entries need not REVOLVE around the festival. Some themes surrounding the holiday like, "Stars", "Hope", "Separation", and "Reunion" are more than enough to be admitted in the contest. So, Let's get to work on the competition, who are our artists? after we specify them, the rest of the FC should give out fanart ideas for IchiHime, the artist picks the best one and then draws it (sorry, kinda sounds like the artist is a slave LOL), we then vote on the pic, if majority agrees then we put it in our entry folder, if after the pic is finished we have more time, we do another and so on (now the artist REALLY sounds like a slave ROFL).

Me, sadly I have a fluid imagination but no art skills to express them so I'll stick with Idea Donating.

The Spring Contest is from April 1st to April 30th and anyone can submit an entry at any time between those dates. There are no specifics in the fanfic category; it can be of any length, genre or rating as long as it's about Ichigo and Orihime and somehow related to Spring. You can also include other characters as long as the story revolves around the pair. I would appreciate it, though, if R/M-rated stories are linked and not directly posted. I don't want angry parents who might stumble upon them. :lol

The Tanabata Festival is from April 22nd to July 6th and contest entries can be submitted between those dates as well. Again, no specifics in the fanfic category, but it must be related to the Tanabata somehow. The fanfic doesn't need to REVOLVE around the festival but the overall theme of your story must be related in some way. The Tanabata Festival is about Orihime and Kengyuu meeting each other only once in a year, on the seventh day of the seventh month, so if your story is about separation, for example, or something about the number 7, then it's okay. Hope this makes sense!

The latter contest has tangible prizes (the biggest of which is the "All Color But Black" artbook), so please be aware that if you win, the people in charge of giving away prizes will need an address. If you are under 18, please ask your parents' permission if it's okay. :D

I just had this idea, what about if a 5-year old Orihime is crying and happy because she hurt her knee, and a 5-year old Ichigo is giving Orihime a flower and is smiling that's why Orihime was smiling and crying ^_~ They are in a bright blue spring sky, in a flower patch full of colors, Ichigo is wearing shorts and a shirt (duh >.<). Orihime a blue dress. ^_^ what do you think?

By the way, what are your reactions regarding the mental torture Orihime is currently being subjected to in the recent chapters of the manga? In 270, Orihime is shown practically seeing Rukia's torture. Any thoughts?

@Naru, that seems as a good idea but then idealists would refer that Ichigo had only met Orihime when she first came to the clinic with her dead brother.

Also, it would be frameful, as a mini manga which I think would be quite hard to do..

@haliparot, seeing what has been happening in the latest chapters proves that Orihime is not as weak minded as most people criticize her to be, this shows she has a will as strong as steel to be able to endure all that is happening to her. @haliport, well, the original Karakura super heroes (in what we call the debate era) were the creme de la creme of the IchigoXorihime FC and the Orihime FC members, they were responsible of defending and protecting both FCs ideals in debates threads or whatever during the period of the rise of the Anti-Orihime FC and the IchiRuki FC.

Original Members were: Me (Karakura Gold), Undying (Karakura King - our main attacking force and the first to come to the rescue), Adorkable (Karakura Yellow - my wife ^_^ who shared my same passion and was always the one to back me up if I fall in a debate), Dragon8 (Karakura Blue - the one who always countered flaming claims with peaceful ones), Zanga (Karakura Red - when flaming got sour, Zanga would step in and PWNORZ all dem b!tches with safe flaming, making em look like asses in the end) and kumagoro_usagi (Karakura pink - our gentle member who debated in a peaceful way which almost always calmed down flamers and Ichiruki fanatics).

the above were the responsible members of defending Orihime and IchigoXOrihime in succesful skirmishes for around 4 months untill we came to our biggest thread, we posted a thread in the Bleach General Talk section saying "Inouers Vs. Anti-Inouers" and describing it as the final debate to settle things once and for all.

The thread was REALLY long, full of our persuasive posts and later on, became full of spam and flaming of the opposing side seeing no other way, then Sandal Hat-sama stepped in and locked the thread declaring that our argument was more agreeable and declared us the winners in the last post of the thread. rejoiced we did then and a new era of peace came... (our current one, you might notice Anti-inouers are low these days even after a year or so from last time..)

Then I left for a while and when I came back it was universally known that anyone who would stand up for Orihime at any time would be called a "karakura super hero" (long for KSH), and so, all of the active, quick-to-defense members in both hime and Ichihime FCs are all known as the "Karakura Super Heroes", defenders of Inoue.

People think Chad is going to become arrancar and refuse to admit they're wrong even at the face of evidence, resorting to calling me things from hypocrite to immature.

People think that Hitsugaya is stronger than Renji even after they've been told a dozen times and shown that it's untrue.

People think that there can be a Quincy arrancar, which is even more retarded.

I need Karakura Super Heroes behind me, seriously. The recent serious debaters are all gone for some reason and I see people like the impossibly arrogant Nood (not to offend anyone but this guy's - an official anti-Inoue guy, btw - attitude is identical to HitsuOri's, who had a superiority complex), or Koolspot, who actually thinks I'm a fan of Renji =\.

This is such a pain in a very annoying place.

Strange to note that they all are Rukia fans, anti-Inoue fans, and IchiRuki fans. All of them debate in the same extremely annoying fashion, and you know me, I tend to fire up easily (as Hollow said, I was the main attacker when it came to those debates back in the day... my posts would be usually composed of enough subtle flame to kill off anyone and yet filled with all the needed info), so I respond in the same manner... and then they have the guts to tell me that I am immature.

I seriously sometimes wonder if I should just use my Smod powers in the wrong way.

Ok there, I read the manga part of Chad. He has powers that resemble the ones of a Hollow, they aren't the powers of a Hollow. Either way Chad is stil a human, if he dies, he will have that chain of fate in his chest, and if by some reason is cutted then eventually he will turn into a Hollow, then if he then takes out his mask as a hollow, he will become an arrancar. But, I really doubt Noitora (was that his name?) cutted his chain of fate, because... I dunno >w< and Chad isn't dumb as to pull it away himself >.> then if he does become a Hollow, there is a little chance that he then later becomes an arrancar... well that's what I see by reading the manga ^_____^

He didn't believe it that Ulquiorra had to say it a couple of times. Contrast that with Renji's reaction to hearing from Zael that Rukia's dead, he went berserk.

After the Orihime mention, Ichigo was suddenly in a hurry. Ichigo was fighting for Orihime and Ulquiorra confirmed it with his "so have you found a reason to fight me yet."

But I have to keep going back to the BAM page. Ichigo's face, I've never seen him that angry. I got my wish 'cause I was hoping to see him passionately angry for Orihime again like he was in chapter 238 and oh man was he that and then some!!! Passionately angry Ichigo knocks my socks off. He beat Renji's expression for Rukia in the previous chapter and we know how much Renji loves her.

You're forgetting one key line from that scene specifically or 2 lines. After Ichigo denied Ulquiorra's claim he was heading off to help Rukia, UL asked why he wasn't fighting and Ichigo replied that there was no reason ( he did nothing to his Nakama). So UL provoked Ichigo into fighting by disclosing that Inoue was forced into Hueco Mundo. UL wasn't going to let Ichigo simply walk away and the provocation proved that. Whether or not he fought for Inoue's sake is open isn't clear cut, but Ichigo did attack because he was provoked.

Aside from that, Isn't it UL's job to gather information about the ryoka? If you refer back to the previous chapters where UL served as Aizen's eye, I think his "role" is apparent ( aside from being a puppet....err....soldier). Seeing Ichigo in such a state would be a great deal of intel for Aizen. I think UL's motives are pretty clear (imo).

Ichigo made his qualifier, he stated he wouldn't fight UL unless one of his nakama were in danger, hurt, etc. And UL used that to his advantage to engage Ichigo into a fight. He was provoked because one of his Nakama was hurt. Given ichigo's qualifier, it's reason to believe he would've attacked anyone if that was fulfilled.

The only one interpreting anything outside of the direct source material is you to be honest. You said that Ichigo attacked UL for Orihime's sake, that's all well and good, but the source material states that Ichigo attacked UL under the rationale that he harmed his comrades ( see: page 12.) In this same page UL provokes Ichigo by hypothetically questioning Ichigo's qualifier ( only killing/fighting those who harm his comrades) by saying " So you don't wish to fight me even if(in the hypothetical) I told you that I was the one who took Inoue to Hueco Mundo?" That is the testing of the qualifier. There is no interpretation there, it is taken from the direct source material. Also see page 15, where Ichigo tells that UL has no intention of letting him go, which is what I stated in the beginning. And this isn't the first time in the past few chapters that Ichigo has gotten pissed over his comrades being harmed( see: the chapter where Nell is in danger). I think if anything this confirms that Ichigo will not tolerate his Nakama getting in danger.

On a side note, Ichigo is an idiot for taking a hypothetical question seriously. :Haha

You're missing my point. I know Ichigo said comrades and understood as much when I read the translation without seeing the pics. When I saw the pics, I freaked out because his reaction so reminded me of chapter 238, but it was even more passionate. Of-course he's going to protect Nell and his comrades because that's inate in him, but what I was loving was Ichigo's expression and action right after Orihime's name was mentioned. It was immediate and it was in your face. Nell didn't get that angry expression. Nell got the "I'm an idiot" speech. XD As an IchiOri fan I love that Kubo chose to put Orihime in that situation again and Ichigo reacted the same way again. 238 and 270 rocks! BAM! It's the expression man!

I already addressed what you tried to counter argue on this page. And taking Orihime against her own free will is harming his Nakama. And if you read pages 12-15 he says he's in a hurry and UL isn't going to let him pass. To go where?
Where was he trying to go? As I already stated UL hypothetically( pg 12) tested his qualifier and that gave him the reason to fight UL. I said it over and over again he's not fighting to get to Rukia, he's fighting because his conditions for fighting someone was meet. Anyway, I'm out.

Oh we're not ignoring page 12-15 'cause you know it's his fight for his friend which happens to be Orihime and boy is he on his way to pwning Ulquiorra for Orihime's sake. She is the nakama he's fighting for and what an effect she seems to have on his power. Of-course he's in a rush because the fight will delay him from getting to Rukia, but the point is, he's fighting for Orihime's sake and that's worth fighting about. You can spout all you want about Ichigo's conditions being met, but you can't deny that hearing Orihime's name made Ichigo go berserk. It's all right there during his whole convo with Ulquiorra. Ichigo is beautiful when he's passionately angry. Man did Kubo give fanservice for us IchiOri fans or what! That page was like, BAM! I've never seen Ichigo do that to anyone in all of the manga. He always talks and preps before attacking, but to attack Ulquiorra like that at the mention of Orihime's name? Are you kidding me, I said that boy's in love and he doesn't know it. XD He really had a crazed look on his face. I don't think he realized he's that angry and it was Orihime who made him that crazed.

On another note, comparing chapter 238 with 270. The differences in reaction by Ichigo when hearing "Orihime may have been killed" to "Rukia is dead" is night and day. Ichigo got that crazed look for Orihime's sake right away and gave proof of her existence. With Rukia, his reaction was more calm. No crazed berserk look or anything. In fact, Ulquiorra had to say Rukia is dead a couple of times before Ichigo decided to walk away to save her. With Orihime, he got on Ukitake's case right away. Man, I love Ichigo when he gets crazed for Orihime's sake!!!

Sigh, those pages of Ichigo attacking Ulquiorra at the mention of Orihime's name needs to be made into tons of sigs. He was soooooooooo angry. He was gritting his teeth in anger for Orihime's sake especially when Ulquiorra confirmed they planned to make her look like a traitor. Go Ichigo, fight for your girl! *dances*

To me, it seems obvious that Kubo is drawing parallels between Renji and Ichigo, who in the past have been shown to possess similar temperaments, and their reactions to news concerning Rukia and Orihime in Ch 269 and Ch 270.

To me, it seems obvious that Kubo is drawing parallels between Renji and Ichigo, who in the past have been shown to possess similar temperaments, and their reactions to news concerning Rukia and Orihime in Ch 269 and Ch 270.
Ch 269:
Zael: Rukia is dead.
Renji: DIE!!!!!!! *HACK* *SLASH*
Ch 270:
Ulq: Rukia is dead.
Ichigo: I have no quarrel with you.
Ulq: I brought Orihime here.
Ichgio: DIE!!!!!!! *HACK* *SLASH*XDDDD EXACTLY!!! Kubo totally matched the reaction and people are dismissing that. What's cool about drawing a comparison between Renji and Ichigo's reaction is that we know Renji has deep feelings, possibly love for Rukia. Ichigo from his reaction in this chapter may be feeling the same for Orihime, but doesn't know it yet. Seriously, that was the vibe I got. I even think Ichigo's reaction was fiercer than that of Renji's. He was really furious at Ulquiorra. Have to hand it to Ulquiorra for knowing how to push Ichigo's buttons. He tested him first using Rukia and Ichigo didn't bite. He decided to use Orihime and BAM, Ichigo was about to bite Ulquiorra's head off. :biggrinlo I can't stop fangirgling!!!

Now a logical person would realize that Ichigo wants to bypass Ulqiorra in order to get to Orihime, whom he wishes to save.

But IchiRukis? "He is in such a hurry to defeat Ulqiorra to save Rukia, he goes all out."

Hello? Wasn't he walking away just now, to "save Rukia"? He doesn't need to beat Ulqiorra to save Rukia, he has to walk away... but he is fighting.

yeah, I saw these posts at bleachflame but didn't know how to respond ^_^;; but I guess they will eventually find out that Ichi is in love with Hime. Yup. I have this feeling that Ulqiorra will... I don't know start asking many questions like Why do you want to save her? What is she to you? or things like that, and Ichigo will realize he loves her... Or Ulqiorra will tell Ichigo that Orihime loves him. I'm pretty sure he is going to ask things... he seems that type of arrancar.

btw, this chapter is definitely one of my favourites!! (together with the confession of Inoue chapter) First we get to see Ulquiorra (and Orihime but that was more sad) and then we see how Ichigo looses it when he hears Ulquiorra kidnapped Hime ^^ and then on top of that he goes vaizard ...
I really can't wait till the next chapter xD Let's kidnap KT and make him tell us what happens next! xD :p

I guessing it's "false hope" maybe. There are an infinite number of ways why people would say that IchiRuki is possible.

1. They were destined to meet.
2. They connected the most. Before the fight between him and Sora(Ori's brother), he doesn't know Inoue much.
3. Ishida and Inoue ALMOST connected.
4. Even Tatsuki almost connected with Inoue(yuri-vibe)
5. Ichigo plays the hero at saving Rukia no matter how many times she tried to stop him.

and so on.........

Ichigo is playing the part of the hero with Orihime as well. His desire to protect extends to anyone in danger he sees (see first chapters, he was going to die to save his family. He's not particularly in love with Isshin, or Yuzu or Karin is he?), so that's not a valid argument =\.

They say everthing is played by destiny. Like I said, Rukia being saved by Ichigo caused her to be more affected to him. I know that Ichigo desires to protect everyone. It's a strength.......but it's also a weakness.......hmmmmmmm.......:whatevah:

Indeed. But what I can't get is why are they all killing off the possibility of a IchiOri? It's a standard sentence in almost any post against IchiOri I see these days.

One of the reasons they believe Rukia is supposed to be Ichigo's beloved is because she's supposed to be the "main heroine". Ergo, the main heroine always gets together with the main hero 'cause it's manga law or something to that effect. 'Course this story really is about Ichigo's journey and all the other characters are just supporting characters, including Rukia. If you go by arcs, Rukia was at the forefront of the SS arc, but Kubo now made Orihime at the forefront of this arc. Whatever happens, the plot will revolve around Orihime not Rukia and nobody can change that. She's the one Aizen needs now. Rukia had already served her purpose in Aizen's plan so her part in the plot is done. There's no way that Kubo is going to make Rukia the center of this arc again. She may have finally resolved something in her life that needed closure, but again, that's not important to the plot. Orihime, on the other hand, is important to the plot. Heck, this whole arc would be meaningless without her.

Back to 270, I still can't stop reading the chapter either. I laugh at people thinking that Ichigo was mad at himself for doubting Orihime. Hello, he was the first one who defended her against Yama-ji's accusation. What he got was affirmation that he was correct in believing Orihime's innocence all along. What's hysterical is that it wasn't Ichigo who said he doubted, it was Ulquiorra, the ultimate speaker of all truths in Bleach. Seriously when has Ulquiorra ever been right. He said that Ichigo is trash, he's not. He said Orihime is trash, Aizen needs her. He said Orihime has no strength to resist, she proves him wrong by slapping his smug face. He said Rukia's dead and she's obviously not. So with that track record, who do you believe, Ichigo or Ulquiorra. Seriously there is so much wank out there its just laughable. XD

They also think that the reason Ichigo is fighting is really for Rukia. Hello, he never intended to fight Ulquiorra in the first place. Have to repeat over and over again, Ulquiorra gave him a reason to fight and that reason is Orihime. What's funny is they talk about "source" and all that crap when explaining their reasoning but conveniently forget the source when it comes to Orihime. Seriously every action that they see Ichigo do in front of Rukia they say, "oh she loves her so much." To sum up their thinking, if Ichigo sneezes and Rukia's in the same panel they interpret that as, "oh Ichigo sneezed in the direction of Rukia, he loves her so much." XDDDD

But BAM, I love Ichigo freaking out over Orihime being taken by Ulquiorra. He just came out of nowhere. I have to keep saying it over and over. When I first read the script, I thought, meh, Ichigo probably is just talking to Ulquiorra from afar when Orihime came up. I was expecting Ichigo to still have his back turned away from us after Ulquiorra said he took Orihime. I click next page and BAM Ichigo was in Ulquiorra's face with this crazed animal look on his face! I was so shocked and couldn't believe my eyes that I had to click the back button to make sure. Sure enough, next page was BAM! Ichigo suprised me so much it was as if I was the one Ichigo tried to attack. I love Ichigo's reaction and it was all for Orihime. *squeeeeeeee*
