Behind a white curtain, The Millennium Earl can be heard hammering and sawing away. His silhouette casts a shadow as in front of the Earl is a body on top of a surgical table.

"Do you need assistance?" Lulubell asked. She stood on the otherside of the curtain bowing her head looking down. Her hands folded and at her pelvis.

"No dear, I'm just about done. I couldn't do anything about some of the metal, but it'll go away in his light form." The Earl said, his sawing ceased and arms at his side.

"Then Styx..." Lulubell inquired.

"Gone. Poor thing, it meant so much to Nicholas. Though Nicholas probably won't remember who he is." He exited the curtained room and wiped his hands clean of blood.

"What do you mean?" Road said as she entered.

"Road, I told you to do your homework." The Earl replied, his voice still happy with a facial gesture to match.

"I couldn't stop her, Earl-tama~~" Lero screamed bouncing in from a darkened corner.

"You didn't answer my question." Road insisted. She tapped her food.

“Road, be more polite.” Lulubell said.

“I’ll do what I want you old hag.” She replies sticking her tongue out while forcing an eyelid further down than natural.

“Why you...” Lulubell spat, her fist growing exponentially.

“Children, children please. “ The Earl said, motioning his hands trying to calm the two Noah down.

“Well, in truth, the person on that table is not Nicholas. It is a composite creature made from Styx AND Nicholas. Nicholas’ physical form remains dominant. Since Nicholas’ soul was complete, while Styx’s was degraded, Nicholas’ soul also remained dominant.”

“How did their souls get combined?” Road asked.

“I’m not sure. Though I believe part of it was in Styx’ ability, when they fuse, they fuse body and soul, so Styx knows what Nicholas is thinking, and vice versa, then when that silly exorcist did whatever he did it resulted in this thing.” The Earl finished, poking and prodding at Nicholas.

“What about---“

“Enough for today Road, let’s give him some rest.” The Earl interrupted. He pushed the two Noah and Lero out the doorway and left Nicholas on the table. His chest was moving up and down making it apparent that he was still alive.

--------------------

Nicholas suddenly sat up and gasped for air. He shook his head violently and removed the white blanket that covered his body. He was lying there, naked, in this cold room that was void of any emotion or decoration. The walls were painted grey with several blood splatters, Nicholas knew where they were from. Upon relatively close inspection of his own body, there were several cuts and gashes that seemed to be closing by themselves.

“Ah Nicholas, you’re finally awake? Glorious” The Earl said, swaying back and forth with his hands behind is back.

Nicholas ignored The Earl. Though it’s not entirely his fault, Nicholas did not know he was supposed to answer to Nicholas.

“Nicholas?” The Earl said again.

Nicholas looked to his left. The Earl was coming past the curtain, his surprisingly grotesque face showing an air of disgust on it. Though this new and improved Nicholas was much smarter than he used to be. He pieced together the his healing and the look of the Earl together.

Nicholas fell off the table. He backed into a corner holding his hands in front of him.

“Get away, you monster” Nicholas yelled.

“That’s no way to speak to your uncle.”

Nicholas still flailed his arms as the Earl drew closer. The Earl grabbed his wrists and pressed his face against Nicholas’.

“If I wanted to kill you, Nicholas, I would have done it by now.”

Nicholas slowly stopped resisting, his flailing arms moving less and less. Then they stared at each other in silence.

“Are you alright, Nicholas?”

“is that…” Nicholas began

“Yes?” The Earl replied.

“Nicholas… is that my name?” He asked.

“I suppose that would be true. It doesn’t have to be…” The Earl said. “Do you remember who you are? Would you prefer ‘Styx?’”

“No, that’s alright.” Nicholas shook his head. “Nicholas should be fine.”

The Earl smiled.

“And you are?”

“You used to call me ‘Uncle E,’ Though if you don’t want to call me that, you may say ‘Earl-sama’”

“Earl-sama….” Nicholas said, in an almost dream like state. That dream-like state was disrupted with a strange-trance like state. On the outside, Nicholas was simply looking at the ceiling his eyes becoming wider and wider as the ground shook around him. A bowl of water swirled around him in rings of liquid and the brick walls popped in and out, coming out of their built positions.

“Ack….” Nicholas grabbed his head, shaking, and his body began to shiver. “Fire…” His head stopped shaking, and it began to slowly to slide out of the grasp of his hands. Nicholas’ eyes became a pasty white, the pupils unable to be discerned from the rest of the organ.

“Nicholas!”

Nicholas’ trance was broken by the shrill cry of a young girl. Road ran in and jumped. She grabbed Nicholas at the chest and hugged him to the point where he couldn’t breath.

“Um…” Nicholas was puzzled. Who was this little girl hugging him.

“Nicholas, this is your sister, Road.”

I have a sister?

“Sister?”

“Yeah stupid, don’t you re-“

“Road.” The Earl interrupted.

“Sorry…”

--------------------

“I am the Noah of Malevolance, Nicholas. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” Nicholas bows respectfully.

“Did The Earl tell you to do that?” Lulubell said with her eyes narrowed. “Why did you bring him to me?” She demanded.

“Now now, Lulubell, that’s not polite at all. You know your brother has been having trouble lately.” The Earl replied.

“That doesn’t answer my question.”

“You’re to train him.”

“Train him?”

Lulubell looked around her. They were currently in a savannah. Where Nicholas, The Earl, and Lulubell stood, was a sentient room that changed it’s form on a whim. They currently stood on a patch of dry land, which could change at any time possible.

“Yes, his powers are quite unstable. He needs to re-hone them.”

“If this is completely necessary, I’m happy to oblige.”

She bows in the same way Nicholas did. The Earl also bowed, out of sight.

“Did The Earl tell you to do that?”

Once the Earl was out of eye sight and ear shot she resumed her brutish and angry face.

“You be quiet now. The Earl gave me a job and I’m going to do it.”

She slowly began to transform into a spider. With eight long legs she stabbed the ground, piercing the earth and lifting dirt.

“Trip me.” The venomous fangs spewed.

Nicholas raised his arms assimilating what looks like a martial arts form.

“Forgive me if I hurt you.” Nicholas said.

The spider laughed. Nicholas moved his right arm, which positioned above his left with both palms sagging. A bar of earth swept the floor. Lulubell easily stepped over it, the bar not even touching any of her eight feet.

“Is that it? You bore me.”

Nicholas smiled. He began to move his whole body as if fighting an invisible figure in front of him. He swiped the ground with his right leg. A bar did the same. He pulled his left leg and kicked the dirt. A second bar rose from behind him and slammed on top of Lulubell. She easily dodged both attacks. Nicholas began to move faster. Kick, punch, sweep, jump, elbow, backhand, thrust. Bars of earth began to fly in every direction, Lulubell beginning to become confused.

The spider’s face was expressionless. She was started to cut it close, just barely dodging the attacks. Nicholas’ speed began to become even faster. Punch, punch, punch, punch. Nicholas threw several punches, four columns of earth behind him. The poked and thrusted at Lulubell who managed to get hit a couple times.

Nicholas’ speed picked up again. Punch, Punch, Kick, Punch, Kick, Elbow, Jump, Kick. The four bars now hit Lulubell each time, at once they hit four of her legs and she tripped. She fell to the ground and reformed into her natural body.

“Better.”

Lulubell transformed into a cheetah. This time she growled instead of hissed.

“Catch me.” She dashed away from Nicholas who seemingly hovered over the Earth.

Nicholas’ speed was in no way comparable to the cheetah. Soon he could no longer see Lulubell and had to halt. He placed his ear to the ground and listened for Lulubell’s footsteps.

The ground began to shake. The room was apparently changing it’s setting. Vines, trees, flowers emerged from the ground, towering high shrouding all who were deep within in darkness. The venue had changed into a jungle. The green trees wrapped around each other, and Lulubell was lost somewhere in this jungle.

Nicholas closed his eyes and listened to the forest. He heard a rustling in the bushes to which he ran towards. He jumped threw the bush to see Lulubell running from him. She jumped through a bamboo thicket. Nicholas followed her. As Lulubell began to pull away again, Nicholas extended his arm. A small vine dangling from a tree grabbed Lulubell’s leg, tripping her. The vine pulled her towards Nicholas. She scrapped her nails against the ground until she decided to gnaw on the vine instead. She chewed through the fairly thing vine and continued dashing away. Nicholas continued to hover just above the ground and chased Lulubell. He felt her presence a mere 200 feet away from him and moved his arms as he dashed. Vines around Lulubell wrapped themselves around her body.

-------------------

Nicholas had just finished up with Lulubell in the training room.

“Good word Nicholas, we’ll get you to tip-top form in no time at all.” She rotated her arm, stretching her shoulder.

Nicholas began to wander. What was this place he was in? He peered into several rooms. In one, was a long dinning room table, a few Noah were seated while the Earl drank some wine. In another was Road’s room. Books and papers lined the floor, most documents were marked with “late.” He even saw the room where he woke up, on that silver table with nothing but a blanket covering his body. He reached another room which particularly caught his attention. In it were several herbs, chemicals, test tubes, and minerals. He walked in.

On a table, he saw an open notebook. It was not written in English, but in another language. There were several characters he recognized. An older form of the letter “A,” a character that looks like a cross between a Z and an E, and a Q that doesn’t look like it’s completed. Nicholas knew what this was. A greek book. He ran to Earl’s library to grab a couple of reference books and returned to, what can only be described as, the laboratory.

“A little of this…. With some of this… and apparently some of this.”

He threw a bunch of chemicals, herbs, and minerals together.

--------------------

“What’s that on your side?” Lulubell asked.

Nicholas was now sporting a strange pac-belt thing that housed several bottles and orbs of some sort. Each of the items were of different color and design. He covered them from Lulubell’s site and told her to ignore it. This was a new training day. Nicholas had already passed all of Lulubell’s proficiency tests and is now moving to battle technique.

“So, in the past few weeks you remembered how to bend water, mold earth, even shape trees. I was not aware of that last ability. Now you’ll learn to use them in battle. “

Nicholas curtly nodded his head. Lulubell grew four more limbs, each of them holding a different weapon.

“Today we’re going to be going with close combat…. Ready?”

Nicholas’ body changed into his dark form. From his back he removes a sword and holds it in his hands.

“Ready.” He replies.

Lulubell sprints towards Nicholas, the arms with an axe and a sword out in front. Nicholas stood his ground waiting for a chance to attack. Their blades clashed. They pushed off each other and fell a few steps back. They immediately came at each other again. Swinging and slashing. Lulubell’s multiple arms proved a bit too difficult for Nicholas who quickly began to tire and get sliced by the many blades. Nicholas was simply not fast enough to keep up with the sheer amount of strikes Lulubell could impose. Nicholas fell back and put space between himself and Lulubell.

“Too Much for you?”

Nicholas reached for his belt-pac and grabbed two bottles. A bottle of Gold Liquid and a bottle of Pink Liquid. Each of them had a distinct glow. Nicholas removed their covers and chugged them down in one foul swoop. After he was finished he slammed the bottles against the ground and wiped his lips.

“Not quite.”

Lulubell dashed again, though this time something was different. Nicholas could easily keep up with her even with her obvious limb advantage. He blocked every strike and managed to kick her a few times. They continued to train until it became too dark to see.
