An Akuma sat in his portion of the Millenium Earl's dimension, wrapping his wounds after the last battle. The strange machine's face alternated between grimaces of pain and an angered dissapointment. Killinger was not pleased with his performance, and was reminded of his own death.

In what now seemed to be eons ago, Killinger was considered a child prodigy in engineering, breaking new ground in things such as transportation, and weaponry. At age seventeen, he accepted a position working with United States government scientists, on a secret new weapon that harnessed the newly controlled powers of electrical currents.

"Killinger! Did you nod off again? You should get some rest son." An elderly looking man in a white lab coat and brown slacks teased at the young prodigy that had been using books and research papers as a pillow.

Young Kevin looked up at the man who was clearly his senior, and gave one of his usual sarcastic remarks, in the groggy tone of one who had just been woken up from a rather deep sleep. "I should say the same thing to you, old man. Shouldn't you need more rest than someone who has some semblence of youth?"

The older scientist laughed with a great heartyness that defied his age. "I see you've still got that tounge of yours, even in your sleep! In all seriousness though, you've been working too hard on this project. I doubt you'll be finding anything on your own without weeks and weeks..."

"But I have found something, old man!" Killinger interupted his fellow scientist mid sentence, shuffling through his papers and books. Finding what he was looking for, Killinger pulled a crinkled paper with diagrams scribbled on it from the disorganized mess of research materials. "Look here, this diagram shows how if we can find a liquid that conducts electric power well, we can store it within these types of metals, then discharge it when called upon to create a small, transportable electric circuit. It could be the answer to our size problems!"

The scientist gave a grave look at the diagrams and numbers scrawled upon the paper. "I don't doubt your theory is right, but we cant trust these numbers and formulas without going over them a few times, you were so tired when you came up with them... I'll look in to it."

As the older scientist made a copy of Killinger's notes and walked off, leaving the young scientist tired and fuming. This wasn't the first time his ideas had been blown off in the 2 years he had been on this project. It was quite clear most of the scientists did not approve of the young scientist working on the project with them. In a huff he took his research materials and stormed off towards the lab, he was going to show them through example this time.

Killinger began pulling samples of metals, and liquids from shelves, mixing them with precise and calculated methods. At last a small metal container, holding an electrically charged fluid lay before him. All that remained was to test it, as he took the device and began hooking it up to the test device, a sudden burst of hot energy flowed through his body, then everything went black....

The Akuma stood fully repaired and ready to fight again now, the memories of his past arrogance brewing in the back of his mind. Of course after that, he had witnessed the rest from the spirit realm. The scientists had heard the commotion of his failed experiment and had found his now corpse. After some mourning, they had sent him home to his family for a burial, which consisted of his widowed mother, who would die soon after due to the grief, and his brother who was 5 years younger than him.

It actually wasn't until after their mother had died that his then 15 year old brother, made the wish that he could have his older brother back. The Millenium Earl was more than happy to oblige.

Life as an Akuma wasn't so bad. Kevin Killinger had been more than happy to live the rest of his younger brother's life, going through high school on his government grants. When it came time to pick a college, he picked one in Virginia to be closer to the influx of immigrants in New York to feed off of. It was also closer to the place he had died, so there was some sentimental value in that.

With his carefully chosen major, and enough people to feed on, Killinger was soon able to reach level 2 without attracting the attention of Exorcists. As a matter of fact, the first time he had seen an Exorcist was during his mission in Russia, when he found out the annoying power of Innocence first hand. Though he was beaten in that instance, the Akuma stood stronger for the experience, and ready to do the Earl's bidding and destroy those exorcist's that embarresed him so in his first outing.

With the blink of an eye, the centaur like figure stood as a young law student in a black suit again, his green eyes calculating, his mind clicking like a machine.
