A tale based on folklore it is. 4 beasts protected the capital city of Kyou, an independant country neighbouring the powerful Edo, Japan. Genbu, Suzaku, Byakko, and Seiryuu. In an attempt to take over the country and add it to his empire, the Earl sealed off the 4 beasts and invaded the country. A record older than time itself came into possession of the Black Order indicating the presence of 8 innocence fragments. Each of those fragments contained supreme supplementary powers, but could not stand alone as innocences by themselves. To the luck of the Black Order, the fragments that were once held by the Earl were lost and are now scattered around the land of Kyou. Possession of those fragments is bound to put the Black Order a step closer to ending their battles with the Earl.

The Earl, discontent with his loss of control over the 8 innocence fragments and as a result, the 4 beasts sends his subordinates and family members to investigate and retrieve the fragments they find. Upon the collection of all 8 innocence fragments, the beasts will once more obey the heed of their master's call and Kyou will kneel to the Earl's request.

Synopsis:
8 innocence fragments exist, call them "gems". Each gem is designated by an element/power, a name and a direction. The gems are as follows:

1- Seiryuu of the Heavens: Wind Elemental
2- Seiryuu of the Earth: Lightning Elemental
3- Suzaku of the Heavens: Fire Elemental
4- Suzaku of the Earth: Earth Elemental
5- Byakko of the Heavens: Light/Healing Oriented
6- Byakko of the Earth: Dark/Status-effect Oriented
7- Genbu of the Heavens: Water Elemental
8- Genbu of the Earth: Ice Elemental

- Once a gem is obtained, it will automatically attach itself to the finder's innocence/dark matter and empower him in one way or the other. For example, if Hei finds "Byakko of the Heavens", then his healing rate may accelerate to 0.3*remaining HP instead of 0.1.
- One person cannot hold more than one gem.
- Given the magnitude of the powers given to gem bearers, the candidates for these gems may NOT be Generals/Awakened.
- Anyone is open to attaining a fragment, even Akuma. The gem accomodates itself to the presence of dark matter flowing in the puppet's body.
- Once sister gems are found (Heaven and Earth of a certain beast), then the beast will come forth and fight those gem bearers to see if they are deemed worthy of handling this power. Depending on the personality of the beast itself, winning the battle need not be the pre-requisite.
- If sister gems are divided among the two sides, then a clash between the gem bearers will decide the outcome of the missing gem.
- If the bearers of sister gems are present together in one battle, they may summon the respective beast to battle to aid them against their enemies. The beast will only appear to deal a significant amount of damage and then disappear. The collective damage = #1's innocence/dark matter/manifestation level 1 power + #2 innocence/dark matter/manifestation level 1 power.

The personalities of the beasts are as follows:
- Suzaku: An arrogant, flamboyant phoenix with feathers that glow bright and emit heat during the coldest of seasons. The bird is known to be ruthless and prejudgemental. Genbu is his rival.
- Genbu: The kindest of the 4 beasts and the wisest. His snake tale is devious, and suspecting in nature though. Nevertheless, Genbu measure's a person's dedication through his/her will power. Genbu takes the shape of a huge turtle with a tail in the form of a snake. He is Suzaku's rival.
- Byakko: An apathetic beast, with no interest in anything in this world. He rarely speaks and is hardly moved by any of the humans' actions. Byakko is a white tiger with piercing yellow eyes and prayer beads around his neck. Byakko disassociates himself from trivial things such as rivalry, but is often confronted by the mischief caused by Seiryuu.
- Seiryuu: A restless and wraithful dragon who travels the skies, hiding in between the clouds. His wrath has been known to bring the end of several civilizations. In reality, Seiryuu doubts the human heart and believes that the world is better off without them. Seiryuu's biggest annoyance is Byakko, who always distances himself from the goings of the human world.

Some notes:
1- If you're interested in attaining a gem, then please PM me your character's name and why he/she would be suitable for the gem you'd like him/her to get.
2- If you get a gem, then general level/awakened is impossible to get.
3- The amount of experience you get from a gem is five points less than that a general/awakened would get (10 for exorcists, 12 for akuma and Noahs).
4- Attaining an elemental gem does not mean that ALL of your attacks will be based on that element. You can incorporate its effect as you see fit. For instance, bearer of the wind gem may claim that the gem increases his speed but does not alter his elemental affinity.
5- One RPer can get no more than 2 gems for his arsenal of characters. For example, if I were to give Nash and Raphael a gem each, then Jin gets none.
6- To attain a gem your character must at least have a 85 XP (including manifestation, dark matter and innocence power ups). An exception to this is if your character is capable of beating an 85 XP boss created to fight him/her off. If the said character has over 85 XP (including manifestation and innocence bonuses) then his boss character will have an overall power equal to his character's XP when in his/her ultimate form (innocence level 3, 2nd manifestation, akuma level 3).
7- Summoning the beast when sister gems are together does not necessarily mean damage. If the RPers agree on a status effect (positive or negative) to be employed instead of dealing damage to an opponent then it may be used. However, status effects will be carefully filtered and screened.
8- Damage level mentioned above is still tentative and is subject to changes.
9- Once a gem embeds itself in a character, it cannot be removed (unless its sister gem is on the opposing side).
10- Applications are accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Make sure you make up your mind before that.
11- Exorcist gems "evolve" given their adaptability with innocence as opposed to Noahs and Akuma. They gain 3 extra XP at 170 XP and 5 more at 210 XP.
