Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. <3
And you know what? It's being MADE. XD
Since Vampires aren't what people think they are, the movie would better explain it. [Also since people are too lazy to read.]
Also, seeing how the fights between vampires and others is going to be awesome. XD
USA release = December =p

Nightfall by Issac Asimov.
although you would probably have to partition the book into three movies. The book features a relatively simple natural event, but utter chaos reigns on an alien planet. I won't tell you the rest. you have to read it. ^-^

Forgotten realms

I'd like to see a brave new world turned into a film.
Terry Goodkind's books...
Tamora pierce..
The usual fantasy style books imo.

The Wheel Of Time books, by Robert Jordan, would be my first preference.
Other than that, a book from any of these three trilogies, or the general world that those three trilogies are set in, by Robin Hobb:
- The Farseer Trilogy
- The Liveship Traders Trilogy
- The Tawny Man Trilogy :)

For the longest time my answer to this question would have been Stephen King's short story; The Mist. But that wish came true =). Good movie. But now I'd have to say Alfred Bester's, The Stars My Destination. It's a great sci-fi story and it's very original. The movie Jumper that recently came out soooooorrt of has a concept kind of like The Stars My Destination, but also not even close at the same time XD.

@ Sendivoge, Those books wouldn't be made into a movie, they'd be made into a series of movies... There's no way you could chop them down into even just a trilogy... Far too much there...
@Arika, great expectations has already been made into a movie, i had to watch it for English GCSE...
Personally i would like to see Orson Scott Card's Enders game made into a movie, but not so much the other stuff he's written, there's too much philosophy in the rest. Ender's game mixes action well, the rest delve too deeply into human morals and question too much to be successful on the big screen...
Eh... I usually don't like it when books are turned to movies because the movies aren't as good.
However, I am very curious about what a movie version of Brave New World would be like. I'm surprised there isn't one yet.
I also like to see the magic tree house collection turned into films. They would be great for kids.
Chasing the Dime by Michael Connolly
I'm also rather fond of Polgara the Sorceress and Belgaroth the Sorceror but those are pretty large books...could be interesting though...

I concur, but it would be too much like LOTR... still there would be awesome fights.

Terry Goodkind's books...
I have to completely agree there Ai, I'd LOVE to see the Sword of Truth series turned into movies, Terry Goodkind's writing style is very vivid so it wouldn't be that hard to translate them over.

Archangel by Sharon Shinn and I wish it's gonna be a movie or an anime....also Marion Fay by Anthony Trollope set in Victorian England.
And the moment I've been waited for...Takashi Matsuoka's Cloud of Sparrows and follow up called Autumn Bridge (it set on 19th century Tokugawa Japan).
I would like to see Stephen Kings book, A Bag of Bones be turned into a movie. It's a scary book filled with exitement and even love. The book is original and makes a likely story, making it very easy to believe something like that actually could happen.
I would also like to see Lars Saabye Christensens book, The Halfbrother be truned into a movie, along with his book Beatles. Both amazing books that tells a truly good story.

I'd like to see them come up with a good set of movies for the Dark Tower Series by Stephen King.
I would have to say.... Enders Game by Orsen Scott Card...
The other one I woulda suggested is already being made into a mini-series....

I second both of Ai's suggestions,
though only if I knew the movies would keep to the book, because a whole lot of movies ruin the stories of books >.<

I'd like to see them come up with a good set of movies for the Dark Tower Series by Stephen King.
This was another book series I would've suggested as well and apparently they are going to make a movie/tv miniseries for it as well. Apparently, JJ Abhrams(the creater of lost) is attached to the project. I loved this series(specifically the first 3 and final book) too bad Clint Eastwood is so damn old he would've made the perfect Roland.
I would have to say.... Enders Game by Orsen Scott Card...
I was gonna say the same thing. Good news, they are gonna make a movie right now it's in pre-production with Orson Scott Card actively involved in the script and it's revisions. Hopefully they won't stray too far from the book and keep close to the source material.
Here's a site that actively follows it progress:

Although, in that series Ender's Game is by far the best book. Kind of goes downhill from there.

.....You know. You're absolutely right. I don't think there's really an actor I can think of who can make a good Roland like he could. However, some might come close: Jason Statham, for example, possibly Nicolas Cage.....or they could mess around with the story and put in Samuel Jackson.

The Cirque Du Freak books were phenomenal. They'd have a perfect spot on the big screen if only they give the book a chance since it's story and characters are so damn memorable.

Actually that would be pretty interesting to see. They did that in Shawshank Redemption and made Morgan Freeman the character Red who actually was an Irish guy I was surprised at first but turned out to be a great decision because he played the role so well.

That is what I hope also, cause that book was great! ((Maybe make Ender's shadow into a movie also, to go along side Ender's Game.... Or just combine the material.... (But that would mean having to remove things that would otherwise make the movie better)))

How did you find that????

I liked the other books, but the just didn't carry the same appeal as the first (The same goes for Ender's Shadow...)
I would also enjoy seeing his Homecoming series, and the Alvin Maker series, cause those books are great!

Yeah, that was a pretty whack movie compared to the book... They completely changed the ending basically ruining any chance of making a sequel that would make sense.
They did the same thing with Eragon..... And I payed $40 for a lame game that only sells for a few bucks now.....

Let's not let this go into movie games. There's only been a VERY minute handful that have actually been good.

Yeah... Another horrible adaptation... They totally skimmed over Eragon raising Sapphira from a baby to full grown dragon which was a pretty large chunk of the book... I was really disappointed by it especially since I was so excited to see it come to film.
@Reaper... As far as games are concerned there are a buttload of games to film adaptations in the making... Gears of War, Prince of Persia(Disney's new franchise...), A possibly Metal Gear Solid Movie, Tekken, Street Fighter, and bunch of others I can't remember right now. I'll post more up when I remember them...

Man, to be honest most of the books I've read that I would want to be movies, already are movies as well =x The Count of Monte Cristo (both the old and new versions are good) The Lord of the Rings series, and the first few Anne Rice books are movies as well.

Ahhhh, yeah... I'll just leave it at this... Its basically an attempt by studios to make even more money riding off the name of a movie... The only one I could say was decent was Spiderman 2.
