anyway give some imput on waht you think about ikkaku and his bankai.. i think he's cool and that he might have gotten it while ichigo just came back into the real world
this makes me suspicious tho... does this mean that the pretty guy (dunno his name... the guy with the eye brow) has bankai too? when he defeated the 69 guy(dunno his name either xD all i remember is 69) did he use bankai to do it? we saw his shikai was the claw thing so did he use bankai or some type of kidou?

his shikai is the crazy peacock thing, his normal sword just looks like a sythe thing instead of a katana.

A mod probaley changed it because the title was a spoiler.
I think Ikkakus bankai is going to deal with kidoh like Ichigo. Perhaps it will be be like a tri-whip? with chains connecting the wooden poles.

For the manga it's not a spoiler. But what is to happen if an anime watcher presses new post? or search bankai and see the topic?
Well for hisbankai perhaps it will affect is body as well? I'm not saying close, I mean power up. what about the bald head of glory? I like the idea of it being a a tri-spear. Or a zanpakou that helps him mold that blade at the end of the tri0staff to any shape?

Well the latest manga is out and I can safely say... His bankai... SUCKS! I frigging hate it! It looks so bad! I suggest that none of you guys bother seeing it... It really is bad. Or so I think...

I still don't get why people say his bankai sucks. It's not he's gonna be a easy target with al those blade surrounding him. only byakuya or possiblt ichigo can easily go in there and cut him. Also his bankai gets stronger after every attack.
agreed... it's definitely not the strongest.. but it is still bankai....
I could see him and Renji fighting and it being even.... but it isn't overly impressive.. it's just different and follows the scheme of his shikai....
I like it ... it feels a little unique.... as opposed to seriously over the top it just feels ...dangerous... Like you KNOW you don't want to get hit with that... but it doesn't seem unmanageable...
It suits him well, I like it. I mean if it was a giant fluffy bunny yknow that wouldnt make sense but giant blades? Yea thats an 11th division member's bankai all right.

I'm sorry, but Ikkaku's bankai pwns. I don't care what anybody else thinks. It's the most imaginitive big ass conventional weapon by soul slayers standards I've seen. It also looks badass and is hella powerful so I think it could hold its own against most of the others we've seen.

Well, a lot of the gigantic bankai don't look like they are meant to kill shinigami and normally they're not. Take Komamura's for example, it would have a helluva time trying to swing its sword at all the little death gods running around. It could step on them though...

isn't it supposed to be some rare power taking 10 years to master...with about 6 intense episodes of training ... i understand how Ichigo and Renji achived it but... Mr. baldy??? Hes been in like 4 parts of the manga!..... whats next, Afro man saves Urahara and Ichigo from Aizen with his "Bankai"?
I hope the author isn't taking some sort of Dragon Ball Z route just becase they hit main stream in japan....

If Rangiku, and all the other vice captains bust out Bankai then you can whine, but look who has it?
Renji: He has been training his entire life to be better than byakuya, and could already materialize his zanpakuto's spirit.
Ichigo: Prodigy and main character, could materialize his zanpakuto's spirit very quickly and is unnaturally strong in spirit.
Ikkaku: Long standing member of the 11th division, gladly keeps a lower ranking because he wants to stay in the 11th. Presumably has been in the SS for a long time, easily giving him enough time to have been training for it. Maybe he was holding off, and losing to Ichigo gave him the determination.
After losing to Ichigo he trained hard enough to become on par with a Vice Captain even if he was already. After the SS arc what is one of the first things Tite shows? IKKAKU SPARRING EVERY MEMBER OF THE 11TH DIVISION!
Not to mention out of every secondary character Ikkaku is one of the ones at the forefront, along with Renji. Out of all the divisions the 11th is the one that is the main focus. Half the supporting cast has a tie to the 11th. Renji used to be in it, Iba used to be in it.
Alot of you are overreacting.

Shouldn't Urahara and Isshin have bankai since they were former captains? That only makes 17 and I agree there is some overreacting going on.

Hmm.I'm sure pretty boy has a bankai too. I don't think he knew about Ikkakus Bankai cause the way he talked about Ikkaku dying, but i'm not sure. If I remember he should be a seat under Ikkaku but hates the way the number looks. Also, I don't think theres much stuff to do around soul society then to train and reach Bankai, som i'm sure quite a few will reach Bankai.

Ikkaku's Bankai? It's a big pair of humungous swords that he wields whilst a larger, third blade floats behind and above him. The bigger blade has an engraving of a dragon on it, filled with red ink. As he fights, the ink drains away and when it's drained, his Bankai goes to a new level of awesomeness.
It's a really cool Bankai, probably my favourite so far in terms of appearance, in terms of what it does... Well, I'm not sure, before the dragon ink drains it just seems to give ridiculous attacking power, once it's all drained I expect we'll see something flashier from it.

uhmm...i don't know why but i have a feeling that tite's gonna kill Ikakku (Finally someone's dieing). Yumchika calls soul society and says " Prepare for Madarame Ikkaku's Soul Burial". Maybe his Ban-Kai is soooo powerful that it kill's him after he's done with it.
It will be totally cool if that happens. And Yumchika's cool...He should have his own Ban-Kai. His Shikai is cheap and he's kind of a cheat (The reason i like the Shikai).

No, he called for his Soul Burial before Ikkaku even used his Bankai. Yumchika (spelling?) wasn't expecting him to dig himself out with his Bankai so that is why he called.
And there is no way Yumchika could have a bankai, seriously, the show would be way too power happy if fourth seats (actually potential 3rd seat) could have a Bankai.
But then again, Ikkaku is 3rd... damnit!

How would a bankai that killed you after it was released be cool?

i think the thing is a bankai like Benihime must sacrifice the user's health to use much like the blood shield that takes up blood of Urahara.
Maybe it being that so powerful that only if he sacrifices the powers of himself, maybe bloodloss, or spiritual pressure loss or maybe even bits of unrecoverable wounds...
It is kinda cool, albeit morbid

I don't urahara think uses actally that much blood. For the shield it seems all he needs is a small cut, and the blood grows. same for the slash.

Renji managed to get his Bankai by raining in the hidden cavern. But as it was pointed out that you need a long time to master it.
I don't doubt that what happened in SS, that people were made to train their swords to Bankai lvl.
If they don't, then SS will surely collapse, since they are fighting a stronger breed of Hollow's . It would seem probable that everyone has been given the possible 3 day training Ichigo got. But who knows.

i dont think that people are overreacting to the whole, "omg everyone has bankai" thing so much as we are all worried that the manga will go the way of, say, naruto. if ya'll dont know, naruto hit mainstream, and all the cahracters just got ally strong WAAAY too fast, and the power scaling became retarded.

he mustve had it when he fough ichigo. becuase he says i told a long time ago when i taught you how to fight. and it mentions in the manga about abarai becoming vice captain while rukia is away, meaning he had bankai before ichigo was even a shinigami.

re read chapter 87, he asks ichigo who trained him, and when ichigo mentions urahara, he says he will not kill him the easy way.

ikkaku wasn't allowed to use zanpakutou release when he fought ichigo. I think he actually got caught up and broke the rules, just by using shikai. Remember? "Central 46" edict, for wartime release came after. Also, you notice ikkaku isn't fighting to win. He's fighting to have fun.
Ah, minor correction, you said that "as the ink drains, it grows in power" that's backwards, it's as the coloring fills IN that it grows in power.
Other corrections, eduardo actually mentions, that the bankai doesn't change his speed, or give him special abilities. His destructive power just goes through the roof.
I don't believe ikkaku to be a 3rd officer level shinigami. He is probably of high vice captain, low captain level, and he doesn't want to go any higher, because of
1. Yachiru being the vice captain, so he wouldn't get the position anyway (I think she can beat him up tho)
2. Wanting to serve under kenpachi until his death.
I found it funny, how he goes shikai when he's getting rather pounded, but eduardo breaks houzukimaru in like 1 page.....when ikkaku says "bankai" the staff is already in two halves.....
