question about urahara and yourichi...are they more than best friends? i was hoping that they would be lovers but my hope has been dashed since someone said that they might be relatives...oh please say it's not true

Nothing is confirmed that they are more then friends or saying that they are realitives. It that's true then it will come up in the manga sometime, however it has not been brought up yet. So there is nothing confirming it, so it is simply speculation or theories. :redbiggri Least thats what I have seen so far.

I think they might be romantic intrests as Yoruichi might not ditch soul society and one of her best friends their for another best friend so rashly.

Um, Yoruichi would. Remember what she repeatedly does to Ichigo? I don't think she would much care if Urahara saw her like that. She's not terribly modest.

I agree. Yoruichi doesn't care about modesty. Not to anyone else. And in the earlier episode where she appeared the first time as a cat, we were introduced to her as 'Urahara's only living relative'. I forgot who said that. Was it Tessai?

It was in one of the earlier episodes.

They wouldn't be real relatives...Yoruichi is in the Shihouin House, a noble house, and there's no suggestion that Urahara is at least from a noble family. Relatives are...relatives. You can even call your best friends brother/sister.

Actually she was introduced as Urahara's best friend. Then Jinta made fun of him because his best friend was a cat. Indicating that Jinta, unlike Tessai, has not been in Urahara's service for a long time.

Bleach portal is not a reliable scource for information, at all. The information there is compiled by fans, and fans can easily make mistakes. Just earlier today there was a debate in the manga thread about Yumichika's zanpakuto, with some guy quoting bleach portal as if it were an official scource, when the information he was quoting (which stated that Yumichika's zanpakuto is a sickle even when unreleased) was actually completely false.

This is a fighting manga, son. Most male characters don't even have a working ding dong! Ichigo's reaction to what is essentially the perfect woman naked was to suggest she put on clothes! They ain't normal people!

Well if they are related, then that would explain the possiblity of Yorichi and Urahara not being lovers.

In the manga, as opposed to the anime, it says that they are related, instead of friends.

I don't think they are releated. For one they don't have the same Skin colour (i like reviewing old threads ;P) and considering yourichi's last name is a Noble name. Uruhara would propely have the same last name no matter what if they where related. considering every person that becomes a part of a noble family even tought Marrige is required to take the name.

They're related. All noble family are basically related. Different branches that's all. Maybe that's why Yoruichi called Byakuya like little Byakuya??? Just speculation.

Noble's are if we look at history. At some point in the family's history a Person (allways a man) have been granded Nobility in one form or another (For examble by beeing knighted) That starts the noble family. So if we look at the 4 Noble familys in SS. they all have 4 People where the all started. and thoes 4 people would not have been Related in any way...

Im pretty sure you are thinking about a Royal family :) THEY Have to be related somehow.

Nowhere. He is a noble just because he lived in the Seireitei, where everyone are nobles.

As for Urahara and Yoroichi... I think they are best friends or lovers. Because... they just can't be anything else. And for them to be related, they need to have the same family name. Show the place where Urahara was shown to be a son of the Shinhouin family.

But she was naked in front of Ichigo, because she couldn't have clothes with her if she transformed and when she was in her underwear, she probably did it on purpose;) And I think when Tessai said that they're related he could mean something else than flesh and blood. I know this idea is a bit far-fetched, but there is a possibility of... secret marriage or something like that.

The idea of secret marriage is actually good. maybe Urahara is something like a dropout, or the sheer fact that he isn't noble may mean that he can't marry nobility...
who knows maybe they fell in love while in the gotei 13 and that's why they left for the human world...
it's speculations...but it would be nice if it was true (i'm romantic in nature so it would be nice :)

I've kind of assumed she left SS mostly because of the fact she didnt care for being treated like royalty and just wanted to taste life simple, and saw since Urahara was leaving that it would be her chance.

As we have seen in the episodes of her and soi fong's past, she didnt really seem to care much for being treated in such a way such as why she told soi fong to call her by a different name.

It seems like that just may be what it is, not everyone out there and this is in real life wants to be treated like royalty, some people prefer working with their own hands as it gives them a better sense of satisfacation.

You know what? I was looking at the old episodes today and I got depressed. There was so much more about my favourite pairing that time. And now is nearly nothing about them and I have a feeling that KT is starting to forget about them more and more;( I want to see them again. But not for a few seconds. I want their characters to be developed.

They were best friends since they were in the academy. That doesn't mean that Urahara is necessarily a noble as non-nobles can get into the academy too. However, I wouldn't rule out the possibility that Urahara and Yoruichi are related as:

- Noble bloodlines tend to be stronger and are more likely to produce shinigami that can produce bankai (explained by Byakuya) and we assume that Urahara can produce bankai given that he was a captain.

- Yoruichi and Urahara may be cousins. It could easily be that Urahara's mother may have been a Shihouin that married out of the family and thus they would be related and have different names (think about your own cousins people!)

I don't think I'll really mind either way. I'd happily leave them just as best friends though. :P

Recently I've come to the conclusion that I would prefer them to die as a couple than live as only friends. But of course my ideal scenario would be "they live happily ever after as a couple":D

I wonder if anyone has put any thought into this sugestion. Maybe Yoruichi and Urahara could be related and lovers. I've seen it in many mangas and animes before. To be honest I really hope that's not the case with these two.
