How many books do you own and what genres?

A simple thread most of us have a personal library in our own rooms if your a usual Anime loving person no matter what.

the question is How many books do you have in your own personal collection in your room and what kind of genres are they include a sample of the authors you read as well.

To go first I have about 60 books on my bookshelf here in my room just beside my desk which I read most of the time, The kind of genre is of course Fantasy which makes up a large portion of it to Reaching style books which are stuff like the Scriptures of Buddhism...An interesting read if your interested in that sort of thing and then finally onto another major interesting read of mine Historic battles in the navy I have a couple of old books which were made around the ending of World War 2 which chronicle the battles of the seaways and the Destroyer the Uyless's last voyage which is a great read indeed.

Now it's your turn folkz I'm dying to find out what sort of books you have and what authors you read.

I can't be sure, I have so many. I have roughly 120 sum books,all of em fiction a few mystery, I have a few I haven't read yet, but mostly all the ones I read were that genre. I have a few civil rights books, and some poetry by Maya Angelou. FANTASY! is my numbah one genre and makes up 90-- books of my collection; my absolute favorite collection has too be the chronicles of Narnia all seven of em.

I have roughly 40 books that I can call my own.

The authors range from Stephen King and Tolkien to Haruki Murakami and Leo Tolstoy. I own most of the Dark Tower saga (missing only the first book), Jonathan Sofran Foer's Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close, which I found to be very touching and very well written. I've got Homer's Odyssey, a classic that one, and even some Willbur Smith, which I found to be very entertaining. Also, I've ordered Charles Baudelaire's Fleures Du Mal, so I'm looking forward to reading that.

That about sums it up, I guess:P I'm constantly adding new stuff my library, but my parallel passion for manga kind slows that down:P

I'm guessing I have about a 100 books in my room, and I have alot that are mine in the rest of the house as well.

The genre varies very much, I have alot of fantasy, some horror, some voyage books, some love stories and more.. Authors are Stephen King, Tolkien, Lars Saabye Christensen and more..

Whenever I see a book that I like I usually have to buy it. Working on several collections atm ^^

I never counted until today. I have about 60 books.

The most in the library is Fantasy books with nearly all the books in that section being from my favorite author R.A. Salvatore and my favorite of his books being the Dark Elf Trilogy. Since I'm still reading books by this author I haven't branched into other authors that write within the Forgotten Realms universe.

Other books include Manga, video game based books, the text books I choose not sell back to school cause they were interesting, including my Psychology books. I also have a bunch of books on the Japanese language from when I was taking classes.

Ai, you mentioned you had books on Buddhism, I was wondering if you ever read Siddhartha. Also, could you recommend something on the subject?

hmmm i never bothered to count how many i have! I have a bit of everything i guess but dominantly its text books for uni, some thrillers like "Hunt for the Red October" and "Angels and Demons". Some Sci-Fi like Isaac Asimov, and Ben Bova, Michael Crichton and a load of fantasy authors like Terry Brooks, Michael A. Stakpole(sp? DAmn great author! wrote the DarkGlory War series!), Marion Zimmer Bradley, Mary Stewart(Merlin series!), David Gremmell and some other random books i have not read as yet!
Its great to see people still taking pleasure in reading a book and not just reading an electronic copy of it! Makes me feel normal again!

roughly 300 that I myself own. They are scattered throughout the house, my room, the lounge room, the garage etc. lol.

Mostly fantasy, crime, adventure and war.

Just moved house so still unpacking all the boxes, but so far we've got 419 out on shelves, 131 are in my room, the rest are all in the study. Of them only about half are actually mine, all the ones in my room are and some in the study because i ran out of room..
Authors include, Tolkien, King, Brooks, Hearn, Homer, Shakespeare
Amongst them are original copies of 'Ancient Greece' by Hammond, and 'Water gypsies' by Shaw.
Amongst the non-fiction are books on arcaeology a masters degree, XML, and Java...

My entire bookshelf is full, I have boxes full of books on the top of my closeth, I have books in the bookshelf upstairs and so on Oo
Plus I've got two shelfs with manga only..

I have a couple of books about photography, some with only photographs, harry potter (norwegian and english), skammarens dotter 1&2, 14 poem books, 20 "animal life" books,
I've been in a book club for girls for many years so I have about a 100 books from there, I just bought myself a 'symbol book' which explains symbols, I've got dictionaries, a couple of bibles (2 I think..), 3 books in norwegian from the "demonata" series (I've ordered more, so they're coming in english :3) and a bunch of other books..
And about a million child books.. But I don't count those xD
And I won't even think about counting the ones on my closeth Oo..

I have no idea how many they are Oo.. But I love reading :3!

Now a little off topic:
When I was small (we're talking 0-1 years) my mother and father read alot to me. And even thought they both speak dilects, I ended up speaking something very close to the way we write over here xD..
So I blame books for my way of speaking :3

I have no idea how many books I have...it's got to be a pretty good amount, because they're freakin' everywhere. I have a couple boxes of books in the attic that I haven't touched for awhile, too. The only books I ever buy are fiction books, because I can just read the other stuff online or borrow them from a library. The only ones I know I'll want to read again are fiction books, thus the reason why I buy them, and not the other types.

Terry Goodkind, R.A. Salvatore, Charles Dickens, William Shakespeare, Socrates (originally, translated and edited, of course), George R.R. Martin, William King, Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle, Robert A. Heinlein (favorite), and various others that I can't remember at this juncture.

I have no clue on the total, but I have a ton of children books from when I was going to college for teaching. I usually just get my books from the library instead of buying them, for now. I am real into Georgian/Victorian England era romance novels.

I would say some were maybe 200+ books even more if you count comics. Oh and as for genres I have something in just about every genre from scifi to romance to poetry.

i don't really read them all tho- i'm not that into reading so its more of a when i can't sleep i might read a book-mite, the only books i will actively choose to read is the artemis fowl books- cuz i'm cool

I have something like 30 or so. Most of them are poetry and fiction. I also like adventure and horror, but not as much as poetry.
