Bus Gamer follows the story of three young men hired by a mysterious company to participate in a business game, a way for companies to gamble against each other for corporate secrets.
The title Bus Gamer is often mistaken for "Bus", however Bus backwards is for "Sub" as in Subway. The Anime ending theme song title is called, "Train" sung by the same individual seiyuu for the both Anime and Drama CD. The word Bus is abbreviated and pronounced as "Biz" for Business. Has anybody heard of this anime? I watched the first episode and it doesn't seem too bad, I will keep watching and see how it goes.

It's a short manga (only 1 tankoban) so it goes really fast after the initial episode so you have to pay attention or you WILL miss something . . . but other than that it's pretty good. The story is rather stereotypical put it does throw some twists in here and there (^_^)

Yeah but I heard the author of the manga is also continuing the story from the anime version so it will most likely be longer than 3 episodes [it says it will be 3 episodes on AniDB]. The manga is not the complete version from what I know

The story is rather stereotypical put it does throw some twists in here and there (^_^)

Yep, I like plot twists :)

The author is currently rewriting and rereleasing the manga, which only catched up from the last chapter the day the anime came out. IMO, the anime looks and sounds quite cheap, although the manga was pretty damn great if I do say so myself.

Nobody likes it at the moment? lol

Anyway I will keep watching until it gets crap which is what I did with KIBA, that got crap really fast [no offence to people who enjoyed it]

As for Bus Gamer, the characters do seem stereotypical at the moment but hopefully any plot twists will fix that [if there are any]

Never thought I would hear anything about Kiba ever again. It definitely started out with great promise util they just totally screwed it up. It was supposed to be an advertisement for a tradig card game, but it didnt seem like any spirit trading was going on. Every fight was determined by one of the key spirits, and it just become boring. The story at the end was stupid too. I liked Yu-Gi-Oh better.

So this anime isnt looking as good as it originally did? Ill watch the first episode soon.

Personally, I have gotten through the first Duel Monsters arc with ease. I did happen to get stoned before watching it and laugh at Joey's hilarious English dub, but I didnt think it was half bad. They didnt even try and hide the fact that it was all about a card game, and even though there was a fight almost every episode, they still seemed to be fresh enough to stay interesting.

Also the first season of Yu-Gi-Oh (the one not totally subbed yet) is a solid anime. If you just think its childish like the Duel Monsters season, your wrong cause it is definitely in the same teen age group as Bleach. I recommend it.

edit: now that I think about it, I could say Digimon Adventures 01 is better than Kiba or Yu-Gi-Oh. I dont know why it rates so low, it is a kids show but its pretty good.

edit2: I just watched the first episode. I do see how the characters are stereotypical, but most anime start off like that anyways. After seeing Gungrave, I can no longer judge an anime based upon its first episode, or first few for that matter. This anime kind of reminds me of Kaiji a bit, where they are pretty much putting their lives on the line for rich people's entertainment. I will definitely give it a chance, it shows some promise. But no way is this a 3 episode OVA. I can see this being at the least 12-13 episodes long, even more considering the amount of "battles" the one guy proposed. I wonder if they just initiated it as a 3 episode OVA, and if it got a following they would continue on with it. I hope so, because overlooking first impressions of characters is quite easy when there is a nice thrilling story involved.

Just watched the 2nd episode, they introduced one new character which kinda made the anime a bit more interesting since she is a cop, I wonder what she will do when she finds out about these games.

copied from my post in the 2008 anime thread :
And Bus Gamer is like 10 years off as far as animation/art goes. It wouldnt surprise me if someone told me it was a mid-late 90s anime. Just got done with the second episode, and it didnt really pick up that much. Im a bt dissapointed thus far. Although there was a small plot twist in the end that was a bit unexpected. I will still watch the 3rd episode though.

To be honest, I dont think this anime is very good. Considering there is only 1 more episode, I dont see how it can get to be much better. I could see it getting a little better later on, but the animation is outdated, and the characters arent that great (except for the main). The fight sequences also seemed rather uneventful, except for maybe the last one where the guy hooked up the electricity and surprisingly shot the guy (unexpected).

Yep. I gotta admit its gonna suck if there is only 1 more episode left. The animation does seem a bit outdated which I don't mind that much but they just introduced a new character in the 2nd episode and then end the series on the 3rd episode is pretty bad.

I will still watch the 3rd episode though to see how it goes or how it ends.

Ep3 is out. Although I havent downloaded it yet, it does look like it is the final episode which kinda sucks. Hopefully the ending is reasonably good. This is probably like the shortest anime I've ever seen

In my opinion, although this anime was very short, ep3 was probably the best out of the 3 episodes. It didn't end as bad as I thought it would (when I found out it was 3 episodes, I expected worse lol) but it didn't really reveal anything about what the 3 guys were going to do with the money and why the police guy wanted that disk and how they seemed to be involved in it somehow.

Either way, it wasn't too bad an ending.

Ha, this anime was hilariously bad! I mean seriously, if you didnt read summaries on the net, or have any idea what it was about, you would seriously have no idea what was going on. And the fact that none of their lives, motives, or purpose for this wole thing was revealed, makes this anime totally pointless.

Battles to satisfy rich people? Its like Kaiji gone terribly wrong. Although somewhat enjoyable to watch, there are absolutely no redeeming qualities to this anime whatsoever. No development or anything.

I guess im just ranting now. This anime had so much potential, but it was just terrible. Even if they were to make a sequel I probably wouldnt watch it.

I'm deeply disappointed in this anime. It had potential to develop into an interesting series. We didn't even get find out the proper reasons for them to participate in the game, just little flashes for you to guess.

Mehhh...and this has got to be the shortest series ever...a bad one at that :<

If it was longer it would've been better. But too bad it was so short. In my opinion, ep3 wasn't too bad and was probably the best outta the 3 episodes. And it didn't end too bad either. Maybe cos I expected worse.

Anyway I agree, they left out way too many plot holes.

Anyway its over and I am watching better stuff (Soul Eater, Kure-nai etc. :))
