What do you think about South Dakota wanting to lower its drinking age to 18?
if so would you want your state or country to lower theirs too?
talk it over here.

Good for them. But at the moment, this thread is in the wrong place. Try not to make that mistake again, you don't want a bad reputation around here. If you need help, read the rules. Its worth it.

Don't Pseudomod, it isn't your job to do so (letting you off since you're new) :winking56
Umm South Dakota has a right to lower their drinking age, and I don't see anything wrong with it. Hey if you can fight and die for this country at 18, why not drink?
Not sure where I should move this, so umm I'll keep it here for now =P

Semprini - I think its fine here in the random section, it may not fit the Lounge.
As for the topic... Illinois is lobbying to do the same, though , they are finding many that oppose to lower age fighting against it with the higher death rate of the teens that will be driving and possibly drinking as well.
I do agree, If you can Vote, Sign a legally binding contract and go to fight/die for this country then you should be able to drink at or around the same age.

In New York the drinking age is 21, as I thought it was nation wide. Guess not, any ways. A drinking age, and the age at which you're allowed to buy alcohol is completely different.
Yea they impede the same thing, drinking to young people. But just because they have to wait until they can legally buy it, doesn't mean that will stop them from drinking.
Hell I had my first beer when I was 12, and I occasionally have a beer here or there. Now I'm 23, and almost don't drink at all..
It's up to each state, and it doesn't really effect much

That's funny.
The drinking age is 18 in Australia, and they're trying to lift it to 21.
About time. We got a lot of youngsters too wild to know what they're doing here who at the age of 18:
- can drink
- can drive
- can engage in sexual relations
Not good when you mix the first two together, or the first and last. Or any, really.

Well I think they shouldn't change it, it's just gonna make stuff a lot worse.....like Australia :p

Pfffffft, South Dakota need to pull their heads out of their asses and look at the drunk driving rate for it's 18-20 group when it's currently ILLEGAL to do so... Imagine if they LEGALIZED it for 18. XD

I am with Nate on this one, if you can fight and die, then why the hell shouldn't you be allowed to drink?
That's why i love living in the UK.
:D
Not that the legal drinking age makes much difference anyway...

I found out the other day that the reason the drinking age is where it is, is becauase our brains are not fully developed until we're 21. That doesn't make sence to me. We can go ahead and smoke deadly addicting ciggartes, that will very slowly kill us, and make our insides look like brown and green mold. Yet it's been proven that about a can of beer a will help our circulitory system. If they did decide to lower it then I think it would be hell for the first three months then it would quite down. Another thing is the reason the state is taking so long to decide is because of government funding. they don't want to lose it.
