Bathing in the sounds,
soaking in the beats
of endless drums.
Tick-a tick ta.

Sinking with the flow,
it breaks and moves,
the hum of ancient voices,
and deep resonance.

Words spoken,
repeating and calling
"Spirits of old,
bring down the rain."

"Spirits of old,
bring down the life-
giving rain. Our land
is cut by the sun."

Rhythms of old,
created through training,
and through a heritage
lost in our land.

Intricate rhythms, so
simple to hear, yet
more complex than
any melody ever written.

Inspired by the music of Africa, some of the most beautiful music ever written.
Before someone asks, the words of the African song are actually a combination of words from various songs... meant to show the feeling found in a lot of the music passed down through their traditions.

i think you did that ver well indeed.
I read the poem before i read the story, and I actually thougt about that. So to me, you captured the spirit you wanted perfectly : )
The whole nature feeling and the feeling of tradition I get from this poem makes me feel very good!
