Isshin Kurosaki...i dont get it

In the later manga series..they reveal the fact that ichigo's father is a shingami..
but how is it that he got nearly killed in the first episode
or that rukia did not recognize him...
or atleast anybody from soul society draw a conclusion that ichigo is related to an ex shingami..any suggestions?

A. He didn't get nearly killed in the first episode. He wasn't there when everything happened. I think he'd gone off on a business trip or something. He didn't get home until the next morning when it was all over.
B. He hasn't been a shinigami for at least twenty years and it's always possible that Rukia has never met him. In one of the episodes where all the Vice Captains are meeting, one of them has to ask who the captain of a certain squad was (he was asking about Hitsugaya) and both that VC and Renji didn't seem to know a lot about Hitsugaya even though he's a captain. So it's highly possible that Rukia wouldn't have known everyone in Soul Society, even high ranking people, and wouldn't have recognized Issin, especially if he was someone she wasn't expecting to see.
C. Who says Issin's last name is really Kurosaki? He could have changed it once he left Soul Society. No one there has seen Ichigo's father so when they hear the name Kurosaki they could just say so what? Also, Issin has been quiet for at least twenty years so they may not even think of him anymore.

in the first episode it says that rukia is atleast 10 times older than ichigo..which makes alot of sense
we know that yourichi and urihare ran away at the same time which was about 100 years ago....
also...i just reread the first manga series and on page 29..u see a picture of him on the ground with blood around it
also...after rukia did the spell..even the father cudnt remember what happened..this is also seen in the anime series
so if he hasnt been around for only 20 years..rukia shud have know him..
if yourichi ran away with urihare ...then that means isshin ran aswell..and in order for them to know each other they were all three captain shingami..as only they could have such powerful reiastu...
so he was a captain..so how come nobody knows where he is?
how can he just dissapear?

he is lying on the floor bleeding, that is strictly comedy, it was Ichigo kicking him and stuffs... the father couldn't remember what happened, that is just called an act, the father is just acting that he doesn't know a thing... Rukia being 10 times older than Ichigo, but she is only a Shinigami for about 40 years.. if Isshin left before that, how would she know him? like she don't know Urahara and Youruichi were captains in the past...

that cannot be right. isshin left SS 20 yrs ago. rukia has been shinigami for at least the past 40 years. so that means rukia is a shinigami for at least 20 years before isshin left SS. surely she must've at least heard of him. it is sensible rukia doesn't know urahara was a captain before, because urahara left SS 100 years ago, which means he left SS 60 years before rukia became a shinigami.

the time line is what messes it up
yourichi ran urahare..which is about 100years
so that means that isshin was there for 80 years after they left
rukia is about 150(10 times isshin roughly)
but doesnt recognize him
but it seems isshin can conceal his spirit energy very well...but the first guy said he's bleeding from ichigo's beating..c'mon...ichigo got sliced up by byakuya and still fought..a few kicks and punches cant take a captain down..at that time...ichigo's energy was fricking low
so....i really dont get this isshin thing

isshin had probably sensed rukia up the stairs, also he knew ichigo could see him, so if he appeared all death god like in front of them his cover would be kinda blown owuldnt it? Plus i think it take him a while to get out the gigai he is in or something, according to him and uraharas conversation when he is fighting :/

also i thought that urahara and yoruichi fled 60 years ago? ill check that out later but also who says that they left at the same time? Maybe isshin left before urahara and yoruichi?

Technically, they said that Isshin hasnt been in his shinigami form for 20 years, they never actually stated when he left SS

I hadn't read the first manga yet, but it's quite different from the Anime. According to Yuzu, the Hollow attacked Issin and knocked him unconscious and then attacked the girls while they were in shock from their father suddenly starting to bleed and then fall over. When Ichigo goes downstairs he sees his father bleeding on the floor.
Possibly, Issin didn't see the Hollow coming because, exactly like Rukia, it was drowned out by the extreme spirit power of Ichigo. She didn't know it was coming either until it was already there.
Also, he may have figured it was okay since Rukia was there. Ichigo pointed her out and Issin certainly saw her even if he pretended not to.
He's also out of practice, which could explain why he didn't sense the Hollow fast enough and why it hit him. Another reason if one of the episodes where a bunch of Shinigmai students get attacked by a Hollow that could hide its spirit power so they couldn't sense it.
Last, Rukia or Urahara mentioned that the longer you are in a faux body the harder it is to get out. Issin had been in one for at least twenty years (or at least Urahara mentions he hadn't been a shinigami for that long). When the Hollow attacked he wouldn't have had time to pop out and attack it like Ichigo would be able to (once he becomes a shinigami) because he'd been in the faux body so long.

Rukia could have just taken a page out of Byakuya's book and be very good at hiding her emotions and reactions. She also doesn't react the first time she sees Ichigo even though he looks so much like Kaien.

since you read the manga, you should know that Rukia had a flashback that Urahara came and asked her whether he shall lend her a gigai after that incident... why would Urahara be there at that time? from what we can see Urahara and Isshin definetely know each other, we wouldn't know if they had planned that time to not help out Ichigo since Rukia is already there... also, if Isshin and Urahara left SS they definetely do not want others to know their location, if they helped out when Rukia was there, SS will come to know about this.

Did Issin have soul candy though or did he just use a glove live thing like the one Rukia has? I've really got no idea what's up with Issin. I'm just speculating. I've only read the first few Manga (not volume one because I wanted to buy it and haven't been able to find it oddly) and the the latest chapters from about 182 I think. So, I'm at a disadvantage in terms of that. I know everything that happens though, just not the specifics. People who have read everything will be able to respond better. Issin mentions being captain level (or at least implies it) but doesn't actually say he was a captain. Much like Ichigo is captain level but isn't a captain. Is it possible that Issin was not a captain, which could futher explain Rukia not meeting him or recognizing him? Though I still think that she could be acting as if she doesn't know him when she really does. She goes into that whole act to be allowed to stay at the Kurosaki house and Ichigo can't believe it worked. Maybe she knew it would work because she knew who Issin was. Or maybe it's just a giant continuity problem in the storyline. Who knows? :)

It was never satated when he left. but it was probaley around the time that Urahara left. Rukia never knew Urahara or yourichi. But she has heard yourichis name so she muight know about Isshin. But also there is the fact that there is not just one name per person. And there is even the possibility that rukia has been noticing something about him. I think Urahara was banned for more than just the hongoku and gigai. Maybe the creation of the vaizards? Isshin must have had been involved in dome way.

I wonder which squad Isshin used to command. It woud be hilarious if he was the previous commander of the 11th squad, but that guy supposedly died in battle with Zaraki. I don't know though. It is Bleach. Almost anything could be possible at this point.

it was said he hasn't been in shinigami form in 20 years not that he left ss 20yrs ago he could've been in shinigami form after he left ss, isshin does have what looks like a captains coat attached to his arm, so i'm assuming he's a captain, anything before that made him look incomptetant or weak was all an act, in the begining he saw rukia so he just layed low trusting that she would kill the hollow, but the hollow was defeated by ichigo so he didn't have to reveal his identity, i hope ichigo does find out soon though, i'd like to see a match between the two actually.

Isshin could probably help Ichigo to unlock the full potential of his bankai. All he can do with it is boost around right now. Black Moon Fangs don't count either, because he wasn't the one using them. I don't know who other than Vaizard could teach him how to control his hollow. Maybe Urahara, he's a suspicious fellow who seems to know everything...

Im just wondering but did it occur to you people that Isshin maybe has left SS but could have still been killing Hollows and other stuff even after he left? Maybe he did leave before Rukia but has been on Hollow patrol. This is basically how anything goes until We really find out what is up with Isshin. Until then we just wait

Maybe Isshin would have taken out the hollow before it harmed anyone, but prefered not to reveal his cover.

I think that Rukia does not know who Isshin is, but Isshin let her in to the house because he did know who she was.

Also, notice that no shingame that is in the real world now would have the history to know Isshin (I think).

Perhaps Kubo Tite has indeed foreshadowed/hinted at Ichigo's dad being a Shinigami... but IMHO I think this has gone too far =/

The original storyline is about Soul Society and Ichigo beating the supposedly-strongest Captains to save Rukia, but now after Rukia is saved

-Captains are not the strongest but the Vaizoids (sp?)
-More people can bankai, thus making it less of a rarity
-There is another 'world' in the world of the dead apart from Soul Society

Honestly I'd rather Kubo to continue the story in the existing Soul Society and develop further from there, instead of starting a whole new story. I miss a lot of people in Soul Society (Shunsui, Byakuya etc)

well...its mostly 11th people that get it..renji..ikkaku...and people of that sort..cuz of they're love of fighting( ichigo got his by rigorous training)
being born with a bankai is a rarity...normally for noble familes
which means kaien shud have had one....his family WAS noble before
