Shu soon discovers the true terrors of war, which includes genocide, brutal torture, hunger, thirst, and child explotation. Now Shu is trying to save Lala-Ru, as well as his hard earned, and often relunctant, new friends from the insane dictator, Hamdo. Whether Shu can possibly accomplish saving those he cares about while still holding up to his values remains to be seen.

Just started watching this anime again because I heard it was really disturbing. So far it's been great but I really hate the animation style. Has anyone else seen it?

Absolutely amazing story. It depicts a crazy and disturbingly bleak world yet doesn't go overboard. It had a lot of really great character development for only being 13 episodes. With complex characters that you can feel for and the surreal and horrid world in which the story takes place, its almost hard not to get pulled in. I watched all thirteen episodes in one sitting because I just couldn't put it off.

If you can just look past the animation and look to its gripping storyline then you will surely love it.

I am planning to finish it all tonight. It is a great anime. If I like the ending then it will probably end up being one of my favorite animes. I'm currently on episode 8 (the one with the evil plant thingy)

Most dramas have bittersweet endings. I have had this anime on my to watch list for a while, and seeing as though I am hearing more good things, I am probably going to check it out soon.

I just finished it

I guess it was a little sad but it ended pretty much how I expected it to. Watching Hamdo die was fun =D I was satisfied with the ending.

/me puts it on her favorite's list
