Jiraiya vs Itachi(manga spoilers)

Jiraya, he may have lost to Pein. But still Itachi was scared of fighting Jiraya quoting "We'd both be killed if we tried to fight him head on". Itachi obviously feared Jiraya's strength knowing his limits. in Shippuden Itachi got nearly-blind only weakining him for the fights. But in his prime as well Itachi could not defeat Jiraya.

Itachi said "I might not win. Worse case scenario, we will both die." or something along those lines. Meaning he would die killing Jiraiya. Jiraiya admitted to not being a Genjutsu type much like Naruto, though I don't think he's that weak against Genjutsu. Tsukyomi isn't just "some Genjutsu" though. And Pein was using Rinnegan against Jiraiya, which shared his eyesight with his other bodies. It didn't slow Jiraiya's movements down to readable levels like a Sharingan can.

The only reasn I can think of that Jiraiya could win is Hermet Mode...but much like Naruto vs. Sasuke, the key to winning would be making sure Jiraiya doesn't get a chance to bring out the big guns. Basically, all I'm saying is if Jiraiya can't get out of Tsukuyomi, the fight is overwith. Forget Susano'o or Amaterasu.

I'm giving it to Itachi.

I'd say Jiraiya would win. Itachi has already admitted that if both he and Kisame attacked simultaneously, Jiraiya might be defeated at the cost of their own lives. Itachi alone would do even worse. Seeing as Itachi seems to always know what he's talking about, I'd trust his word.

No contest Jiraya takes this one. Itachi's own words put both him and Kisame against Jiraya would mean unevitable death for the both of them. So Jiraya wins hands down!

I get what he said, but actions speak louder than words. I've seen him do things more noteworthy than Jiraiya, therefore I consider him the winner. The more frogs Jiraiya summons, the more opponents he makes for himself, as they can be fooled into attacking Jiraiya himself. Also, I'd have to see Jiraiya pull off an anti-Tsukuyomi jutsu before believing he could stand a chance.

Kakashi, when fighting against the Itachi clone states that there is no possible way to escape Tsukuyomi. None at all. If Jiraiya is hit with Tsukuyomi, there really is no way to get out of it unless he has a Sharingan, which he obviously doesn't.

I think Jiraya wouldnt even be fooled into Tsukiyumi he'd probably jump into hermit mode from the get go. And from what i can gather in hermit mode he's strong enough to punch a Giant summoning at 50 yards off of him. Not to mention he's fast enough that 3 people with a kekei Genkai barely keep up with him. Amaterasu wouldn't work on him either cause he'd just seal it up like he did last time. The man was a legend!

Orochimaru was the BEST of the legends, and Itachi beat him with one basic paralyzing genjutsu. Amaterasu was sealed by Jiraiya pulling out a scroll, writing script onto it, and then allowing the flames to get pulled into said scroll. If you have a swirling black inferno chasing you down when the heck would you have time to do all of those things while running? Sure, he'd move faster with Hermit mode, but those flames don't stop. Not for 7 days and 7 nights atleast.

Then we've got the Rinnegan again. Those three bodies didn't have the ability to predict someone's movements through the chakra in their body, or the tensing of their muscles. All it did is allow them to share eyesight. It was akin to just having 2 other people point at a really fast guy and saying "Look, there he is!" Not nearly as beneficial as seeing someone move in SLOW MOTION.

Again, the fight comes down to whether Jiraiya and his toads can fight with their eyes closed the entire fight. If not, game over.

No, game isn't over, Orochimaru WAS the best out of the Sanins, WAS and for all its benefits the great and fabled Itachi said it himself that he would lose in an in all battle against Jiraya... even if Kisame, who had the greatest Chakra out of the Akatsuki helped him. And yet you still say all that?? The same man who's able to reseal the 9tails chakra with a lil napkin sized paper??? you serious? In an all out fight Jiraya would beat Itachi, he would beat Orochimaru the only difference between then and now is that Jiraya doens't see Orochimaru as a friend anymore only as rogue ninja and wouldnt hold back against him while in his younger years he would have.

I still say all that, because that's a terribly small amount of evidence compared to what I've stated. Itachi probably made his statement because Jiraiya is a Sannin, and that's it. We've no evidence of him losing a fight to Jiraiya, having him go on missions with Jiraiya, having him watch Jiraiya fight an Akatsuki level opponent, or having seen the fight between he and Orochimaru, therefore I'm sure he's just going on heresay.

And suppressing Kyuubi with a napkin pales in comparison to controlling it with a simple glance.

Jiraiya hasn't shown us anything that can escape Tsukuyomi or pierce Susanoo, but because Itachi said "we'd die against him" then it's automatically the end all, be all of it? That ain't doing it for me. I need manga scans showing him escape high level Genjutsu. I need pics of him effectively getting the drop on someone with Sharingan. I gotta see him break Susanoo's Kagami shield or effectively escape Amaterasu, or survive an attack from the Totsuka.

Jiraiya can do none of these things. And you said Jiraiya can beat Orochimaru? I sincerely hope someone makes a "Orochimaru vs. Jiraiya" thread...that nonsense has gone on WAY too long.

I've the feeling I read somewhere that Jiraiya , much like Naruto isn't that good at defending against Genjutsu * hits head on the wall to remember where *

@ Chi , dude from what we have seen , Mangekyou Sharingan is a lot stronger than Rinnengan. The only ability of the Rinnengan we have seen , is it's ability to give the 6 bodies of Pain shared eyesight. I do not doubt that Rinnengan is potentially greater than the Sharingan but we cannot take that into account yet , not having seen pretty much anything from it.

Also , do not forget that having a Sharingan means auto-win in Narutoverse.

I won't say a thing about Jiraiya being stronger than Orochimaru ~ You were joking right?

I haven't heard of many anime characters that make claims that they could not beat a character, only to have it turn out that they actually CAN beat them. The only time I've seen that happen is if the person doesn't have a clue of the opponent's real strength, he gets some powerup during the fight, or an outside force intervenes.

Jiraiya hasn't shown any genjutsu techniques, but he never faced an opponent in the storyline where it was necessary. Itachi is a genius, so I really doubt he'd grossly overestimate the opponent, to the point where he'd need Kisame to tie against Jiraiya *in a best case scenario*.

Look, there is not enough time to show every fight in Naruto, use ur minds to think of an outcome. Itachi said himself, him and Kisame would not defeat the Jman. You guys think that sharingan is the ultimate end all moveset, its not, there are ways to counter it, how do you think the 1st defeated Madara?

Looking at the recent chapters its safe to say that Itachi will win if he has to use his strongest stuff. Besides Madara already said Itachi didnt like to see needless fighting which would go along with him not wanting to fight Jiraya

Itachi already said he would lose, i think he was talking about it as if he and Kisame went all out against Jiraya. The only reason why they didn't engage him was because itachi wanted to live and be killed by Sasuke.
