A tale of polar opposites. One person is respectful and the main healer of the Gotei 13. The other is the opposite, has no respect for the life of even his own daughter.
Unohana shikai can heal and fly and is an animal. Mayuri's bankai breathes poison and is also an animal. Unohana has average mobility, Mayuri has way below mobility.
both are maxed out on kidou and intellect. Unohana is an expert at Kendo(we all know what that can do)
Who takes it?

From what we know, Unohana most likely has this, being a captain just as long as Shunsui and Ukitake, and being the healer she is, her bankai is probably some insta-heal shit that could make Mayuri's poison useless.
Speculation of course.

I agree, though let's not assume Kendo is gonna double someones attack power in the same sense that it does Kenpachi...it's just a fighting style, a way for Kenpachi to admit he wasn't fighting seriously when we see him flailing wildly with one arm. I'm sure Mayuri uses Kendo when he actually fights, though it's not as advanced as everyone else.
And forget his poison, concidering it's a fog that erupts from Konjiki Ashisogi-jizou's mouth...and Unohana can fly. She'd have to screw up majorly to actually get touched by it, let alone inhale it.

I think Unohana's going to win... I mean, since she can fly (on the back of a giant manta ray o_O;) and everything she can easily avoid Ashisogi Jizo's weird poison gas fumes. Even if she were to inhale it, she's the captain of 4th squad which is known for healing... so she'd probably be able to heal herself, anyway.
It's hard for me to imagine her fighting, but she must be pretty good since she's been captain since Kyoraku and Ukitake were. But then again, Mayuri might've been in the Maggot's Nest for just as long as they've been captain and only "dangerous" people are imprisoned there. For him to be considered dangerous for that long must mean he's pretty powerful too... assuming that was how long he'd been there, anyway.

I went with Unohana on this one. As much as i'm a fan of Mayuri I have to admit that Unohana's experiance towers over Mayuri making it a one sided fight.

Unohana wins this easiely most likely because mayuri's poisin and paryalization tricks would not effect unohana because of her instant heal. Conclusion:Unohana wins easily

There's not going to be a lot of talk in here outside of speculation. We haven't really seen Unohana do anything. Mayuri has shown us quite a bit of his sword abilities, but in terms of his physical attributes, he's only really given us an idea of his mobility (out maneuvering Ishida until Ishida experience a surge of power thought to permanently burn out his power). Don't judge the databook statistics as figures directly comparable between two characters.
Judging by the databook's extra information, and what little we've seen to show she's weak, i would give the victory to Unohana. I don't think it would involve something like 'instant healing' though. Mayuri has always had a trick up his sleeve, so it's difficult to say what would occur in the fight. He may also take his liquefied form (unattackable, as stated by Mayuri) resulting in a draw.
What's she going to do against his poison? What's she going to do period? Besides some guaranteed swordfighting, I have no idea.. which is why i'm not voting right now.

That's understandable. i'm pretty sure Unohana doesn't have an instant heal unless that's her bankai ability. but Nnoitora already has this ability so i doubt Unohana will have it too.
I just think that your right there is a lot of speculation because a lot would depend on her kidou using abilities. As far as i know she's the only character that can fly in shikai, i'd guess then she would be a good ranged fighter. If she drops that level 99 kidou that hachi did to kensei, from minazuki's back, that'd be pretty devastating. that might be a one and done.

Mayuri has a similar regeneration technique to Nnoitora.
Like Unohana, I don't think we've seen anything to show Mayuri's full kidou ability. When he was at the main hospital of the 4th division, he effortlesslessly blew two holes in the wall. That's the only time i can think of, off the top of my head... I love that bit :biggrinki

true, that's why i made this thread, Mayuri is underated in my opinion. he's got a great shikai and bankai. he has range with his ear and arm. he can instant heal parts of his body. he also has gadgets i'd say he's very formidable.

Do we even know if that giant Manta ray is her shikai?
Isn't it possible it could be her bankai?

Yes. But having not witnessed any other sword abilities, people generally assume it's her shikai (seeing bankai before shikai would be a bit anticlimactic IMO).
it's more then likely her shikai, i would say this puts her in a bit of an addendum. With her Shikai released she doesn't have a sword to fight with. I am assuming the same with her bankai. Mayuri has a sword during both.... so its really hard to say for me. Untill i see more of Unohana i won't have a real opinion on this one.
