Hope
Hope is that ray of light that makes people go forward and do the impossible. I don't think that life can go on without hope.

It's also that belief that pushes people to create, and that's hope I'm trying to show on this photo of that old woman who lives in village in India far away from civilization. They don't have electricity or anything so life isn't so easy. Obviously that woman didn't know that what she was holding is a camera.

Talking about the camera, it wasn't like that before also other machines. So hope lets an opened window for people to create new stuffs and improve them to make life easier.

Yellow Flower of Hope
Hope to me is something that is desired to a person or something that you are destined for. It is also something that you want to turn out okay in the end.

In my photograph the I try to make the point that you can do anything you want to even if you are the only one. Never give up. There is still hope in the world even if it seems like there is none. Nature itself is hope on it's own. If there is ugliness in your life or stress in your life you can always turn the beauty that surrounds you that you might not notice.

I went to a place close to where I live which was where I used to hang out when I was little. The place was totally deserted and knocked down. There was nothing there. But there was one thing. There was one tall tree full with birds and flowers were on the bottom. My picture was taken at the thought of this place I spent a lot of my childhood at. The flowers and the tree represted hope that there is still beauty even if some of your memories go away.

A Portrait of Hope
Peace and Love are the two things that symbolize a dove. But to me, it also represents hope - to lead us in the way, the truth and the life of our own spiritual consciousness. Spiritually speaking, whenever we suffer because of the negativity from society or from the difficult situations, we are looking for an inspiration - a symbol - in which - in order for us to carry on in our lives. That's why this portrait is one of the things that are important to me.

This is a portrait of my dove here who sat on the upper corner of the sofa. One day, I let him out of the cage to fly around the living room and played. Then, he flew down on this sofa and stayed there in few minutes. To me, he wanted to take the photo of him.

Which one do you think it's the best photo in this month's theme?

Everybody is welcome to critique and vote from April 26, 2008 - May 11, 2008.

Excellent entries :)

Some comments:

no.1- I love the concept, if only the water bottle didn't distract me xD

no. 2 - it would've been better if you've cropped out the little details in the background, which distracted my eye. I love the concept though, and the strong yellow.

no. 3 - Symbolic, but would have been better if it wasn't such a static image in the centre of the photo. Even if the bird wasn't in motion, the Rule of Thirds and maybe cropping would have greatly improved this :)

Again lovely photos :)

It was a difficult choice, picking between what represents hope the most, since its meaning is different for each individual.
